Residents report citrus odor from kratom plant
WYOMING, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Residents of several communities in the northern part of the Wyoming Valley say they are being plagued with a citrus-type odor they say is emanating from a business in their area.
Officials from West Wyoming and Wyoming borough filed citations against the company, KB Crash Creations, in West Wyoming.
The company specializes in making Kratom extracts.
A hearing on those citations was held in District Court today.

The State House's public health committee heard testimony on multiple vaccine bills, including an extremely contentious piece of legislation that would eliminate religious exemptions to vaccine mandates in schools. For every enthusiastic advocate for getting rid of the religious exemption, there was an equally passionate advocate to keep it. These parents and doctors testified that disallowing parents from choosing to exempt their children from vaccination is a violation of their freedoms, and only serves to keep deserving children out of school. 'Public health policy should support and empower, not harm and humiliate,' said Dr. Sylvia Fogle, a psychiatrist. Those speaking against the bills say the total harm of their passage would far outweigh their speculative benefit. Those who testified pro-vaccine say that claim is based on misinformation. The conversation around vaccine exemptions is especially relevant as the federal Secretary of Health and Human Services has voiced consistent support for getting rid of mandates. Female wrestling coach facing sexual assault charges
KINGSTON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A Luzerne County former assistant wrestling coach is now behind bars facing sexual assault charges. The Wyoming Seminary coach was arraigned Friday afternoon after being accused of inappropriately touching a female wrestler. 25-year-old Nina Pham is accused of inappropriately touching a young female wrestler during a workout. Pham turned herself in to Kingston Police Friday afternoon. Former Wyoming Seminary assistant wrestling coach Nina Pham was taken to prison Friday afternoon. The 25-year-old is charged with institutional sexual assault and indecent assault of a person less than 16 years of age. According to police reports, it happened during a workout when Pham asked a young female wrestler to 'get down.' Cell phone store theft investigation moves forward Police and the criminal complaint indicate she then inappropriately touched the young girl and immediately stopped as two people entered the gym. Wyoming Seminary officials released a statement to 28/22 News: Wyoming Seminary is aware of an allegation of sexual misconduct involving a coach and has cooperated fully with authorities in the investigation. The individual was removed from campus and is no longer employed by Wyoming Seminary. To protect the privacy of those involved, we will not comment further at this time. Wyoming Seminary Director of Communications Jill Snowdon Police reports indicate Pham was hired as an assistant wrestling coach in December 2024. Pham's attorney, Frank Nocito, said during the arraignment that she served in the military and was awarded two Army achievement medals as well as previously qualifying for the wrestling Olympic trials. Wyoming Seminary tells 28/22 News that Pham was removed from campus and is no longer employed by the school. Pham's preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 18. Her bail is set at $25,000. Over the years, the tick population has increased dramatically and it's important to protect yourself from them. As the weather gets warmer, more and more of us are spending time outside. Ticks tend to be very active this time of year, and they can carry dangerous and even deadly diseases like Lyme, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, and Powassan. So it's important to avoid areas where they could be. If you're hiking, sticking to the middle of the trail.
