Man in 'serious' condition and four arrested after collision involving pedestrian shut North Wales pass

A 21-year-old man has suffered serious injuries and four people have been arrested, after a collision on the Horseshoe Pass, Llangollen, on Friday. The road was closed while emergency services worked at the scene .
The collision happened following the Olly Murs concert at the Llangollen Pavilion, with heavy traffic in the area. Police have launched an appeal for people with dashcam footage, or witnesses, to come forward.
A North Wales Police appeal yesterday (Saturday) said: "Road traffic collision A542, Horseshoe Pass, Llangollen. Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious injury road traffic collision on the A542, Horseshoe Pass, Llangollen at approximately 11pm on Friday the 4th of July 2025.
"A 21-year-old man is in a serious condition and being treated in a major trauma centre following the incident last night. Four people have been arrested in relation to the incident and the investigation is underway."
Sergeant Daniel Rees from the Roads Crime Unit, added: 'I would like to appeal for witnesses, and to anybody with dash cam footage, who were in the area of the Horseshoe Pass, Llangollen last night.
"I know the area was particularly busy with people having left the Olly Murs concert in Llangollen Pavilion and we are keen to speak to anyone who saw an incident involving a pedestrian and a red Vauxhall Corsa. If you have a dash cam and travelled that route after the concert, please provide us with your footage.'
'If anyone has any information relating to this collision, please contact North Wales Police quoting event number 25000551605.'

Three people have been rushed to hospital and a dog has died following a serious crash involving a stolen car near Inverness. Emergency crews raced to the A96 at Newton of Petty at 8.45am on Friday July 18 after receiving reports of a serious collision involving a stolen car from the Buckie area. The 50-year-old female driver of a red Vauxhall Corsa was taken by air ambulance to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. The 74-year-old female passenger of a black Volvo XC60 was also taken by air ambulance to the same hospital, while the 74-year-old male driver was taken by road ambulance to Raigmore Hospital. A dog travelling in the Corsa died at the scene. The A96 was closed for crash investigation work to carried out and re-opened around 6.30pm. Enquiries so far have established that the Corsa was stolen from the Great Western Road area of Buckie around 7.30am the same morning. Sergeant Ewan Calder said: 'Our enquiries into the crash and the events leading up to it are ongoing and I would like to thank everyone who has come forward and spoken to officers so far. 'In particular we would like to speak to anyone with information relating to the theft of the Corsa and also if you were driving in the area between the time it was stolen and the time of the crash to please check any dash-cam footage. 'If you have captured anything that could assist with our enquiries into the theft and the crash and have not spoken to us already then please get in touch.' Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0755 of Friday, 18 July, 2025. Earlier today, in a separate incident, we reported that a car burst into flames after it was "abandoned" following a crash in Glasgow. Police spotted the vehicle "allegedly driving at speed" along Govan Road in the early hours of Friday, July 18. The vehicle later crashed on Harmony Row, with officers saying three occupants ran from the wreckage, reports Glasgow Live. The vehicle then caught fire, however police confirmed there were no injuries. An image from the scene shows massive flames coming from the scene where emergency crews raced to. A 21-year-old man was later traced by officers nearby on Roseneath Street. He was arrested and charged and appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Friday. Police say enquiries remain ongoing. ‌ A Police Scotland spokesperson said: 'At around 1.35am on Friday, 18 July, 2025 officers on patrol observed a vehicle allegedly driving at speed on Govan Road. ' Officers traced the vehicle which had crashed on Harmony Row. Three people from the car made off on foot from police. 'The vehicle caught fire when abandoned. Nobody was injured as a result. ‌ 'A 21-year-old man was traced by officers a short distance away on Roseneath Street and arrested. He has been charged in connection with the incident and is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Friday, 18 July. 'Enquiries into the incident remain ongoing.' A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 1.39am on Friday, 18 July, to reports of one vehicle on fire on Govan Road, Glasgow. "Operations Control mobilised one appliance to the scene, where firefighters extinguished a fire affecting one car. The 39-year-old, who has been described as the "kindest gentlest loving person you could ever meet", was last believed to be in the Llyn Brenig area of North Wales. North Wales Police released an image of Edward and the cap he is believed to have been wearing when he was last seen. ‌ ‌ Inspector Rachel Hare revealed what the cap looked like and several other items the 39-year-old, from Denbighshire, Wales, was believed to have on him at the time he went missing. Hare said: "Edward is believed to be wearing the cap featured in this post, he is believed to be in possession of a fishing rod, a sleeping bag in a green cover, and an emergency blanket. "I would also like the public to report any sightings of these items, or any evidence of camping equipment in the vicinity of Llyn Brenig.
