Govt schools embrace yoga through Olympiad initiative
Ranchi: Govt school students are now learning yoga through the Yoga Olympiad initiated by the Jharkhand Education Project Council (JEPC), embedding yoga into their daily lives. The initiative aims to promote holistic well-being among school children by encouraging the regular practice of yoga and making it an integral part of school life. As part of the programme, selected participants from the Yogamay Jharkhand Olympiad are receiving specialised yoga training from May 29 to June 12. The trained students will represent Jharkhand at the National Yoga Olympiad, scheduled to be held from June 15 to 18 in Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu. To institutionalise yoga activities and ensure their continuity, the education department has directed the formation of yoga clubs in all govt and aided schools. These clubs will be constituted on June 12, said officials. Lucknow: In a bid to promote holistic wellness, Bhatkhande Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya has launched a yoga camp which will continue up to International Yoga Day on June 21. The university has planned a diverse range of activities combining traditional yoga practices with modern engagement methods. The camp features innovative events like yoga dance performances and enlightening dialogues on disease prevention through yoga practices. Special emphasis is being placed on Naad yoga and various yoga asanas. To encourage student participation, the university has organized several competitions, including impromptu speech contests, yoga-themed quizzes and artistic events such as painting competitions featuring different yoga asanas and rangoli-making. The academic aspect of the celebration includes an international webinar titled 'Yoga: The confluence of knowledge and experience' and a thought-provoking discussion on "Heritage to development: role of yoga." One lakh people from Vizianagaram will take part in Yoga programme at Bhimili: Joint Collector Sedhu Madhavan
Vizianagaram Joint Collector Sedhu Madhavan directed officials of all the departments concerned to mobilis around one lakh people from Vizianagaram district and encourage them to participate in mega yoga programme to be held in Bheemunipatnam of Visakhapatnam district on the eve of International Yoga Day to be observed on June 21. According to him, mobilisation of one lakh people would be easy as Bheemunipatnam is very close to several mandals of Vizianagaram district. As the Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to participate in the event, the district is planning to make it as a grand success and bring laurels to the district with its efforts to gather huge number of people for the programme. who visited various tourism spots including Thatipudi reservoir directed the officials to arrange yoga camps in a big way. Chintapalli, Ramateertham, Thatipudi, and other areas were selected for special yoga camps planned between June 6 to June 19. T-shirts, yoga mats have to be given to the participants. Spot registration desks are needed to be established at those selected places since many of them might have not registered their names in Yogandhra portal.
