Diljit Dosanjh faces backlash over Hania Aamir casting in ‘Sardaar Ji 3', film body demands blacklist
Amid mounting backlash over Pakistani actor Hania Aamir's presence in Sardaar Ji 3, singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh has posted a cryptic message on Instagram. The post, titled 'Censored before release?', ostensibly referenced his unreleased film Panjab 95, which has faced prolonged delays due to objections from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), but likely also reflected his response to the fresh debacle.
Diljit's post comes just a day after the trailer for Sardaar Ji 3 was released, revealing Hania Aamir in a prominent role. The timing has added fuel to the ongoing controversy, as tensions between India and Pakistan remain high following the recent Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor. The trailer announcement also confirmed that the film will release overseas only on June 27.
The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) issued a sharp condemnation of the film and its makers, including Dosanjh, directors Amar Hundal, and producers Gunbir Singh Sidhu and Manmor Sidhu. Calling the collaboration with Aamir an 'anti-national act,' FWICE demanded that the industry blacklist those involved and that the government revoke their Indian passports.

AICWA Condemns Inclusion of Pakistani Actress Hania Aamir in Sardar Ji 3
Calls for Boycott of Singer & Producer Diljit Dosanjh

In its official statement, FWICE accused the Sardaar Ji 3 team of defying an industry-wide ban on Pakistani artists and labelled Hania Aamir a 'vocal propagandist against India.' The body further urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take 'strict and immediate action' and framed the collaboration as a 'shameful betrayal' during a time of national mourning.
Producer Gunbir Singh Sidhu responded to the backlash by clarifying that the film was completed before current hostilities escalated. 'We are not releasing the film in India, keeping in mind the present situation and the sentiments of India and the Indian people,' he said, adding that they would await a more appropriate time for a domestic release.
Despite the storm, Diljit Dosanjh continues to promote Sardaar Ji 3 globally. The third installment of the popular Punjabi horror-comedy franchise features Diljit as a ghost hunter, alongside Hania Aamir, Neeru Bajwa, and others.

Diljit Dosanjh's fluent interview in English irks netizens amid Hania-Sardaar Ji 3 controversy: ‘Everything is a lie'
Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh has been trending online since the last few days but sadly not for the right reasons. He is being brutally trolled across social media by netizens who are hurt that Diljit is sharing the screen with Pakistani actor Hania Aamir in his upcoming film Sardaar Ji 3. A few months ago after the Pahalgam terror attack, rumours were rife that Hania, who was all set for her Bollywood debut, would be replaced in Diljit's film as Pak actors were banned. However, when the trailer was shared, fans were introduced to Hania as a prominent character in Sardaar Ji 3. This is because the film was shot before the war-like situation between India and Pakistan. Amid this controversy, an interview of Diljit has now surfaced online where he can be seen speaking in English. Diljit Dosanjh and Hania Aamir For the longest time, Diljit Dosanjh has maintained that his English is not perfect and he often finds it difficult to express himself fluently in the language, opting for Punjabi instead. Even during his car ride with Shakira before the 2025 Met Gala, Diljit was on his phone learning English from Chat GPT in a viral video. Well, a few weeks ago Diljit sat down with Recording Academy/Grammys President Panos A. Panay for a chat. A clip from the same has now surfaced on social media, where the Punjabi star is speaking in English. Netizens, still angry about Hania Aamir's casting in Sardaar Ji 3, are now accusing Diljit of lying that he can't speak in English, calling it all an 'act'. Under a Reddit thread, one social media user claimed, 'When the Grammy President calls, you can no longer continue your act of not knowing English😂,' whereas another comment read, 'His English, marriage, patriotism everything is....I don't know what to call ACT maybe?' A netizen stated, 'Everything about him in the public domain is a lie!!,' whereas another wrote, 'OMG he was acting all along of not knowing english lmao. Such a fake guy 😱😱. Hope they throw him out of border 2. And we have been hyping this man eww, he used india as a cash cow only and fooled us all along . Thank God he's mask has been peeling off slowlys.' A comment also read, 'Loser! Liar! I remember watching so many interviews where he put on a convincing act of not knowing English. How convenient?! The fact that he is married with a child yet continued his public admiration for a much, much younger Kylie Jenner. This man is problematic. And despite the backlash, he's now releasing his film with Hania Amir.' There were some, however, who came out in Diljit's support. One such internet user shared, 'Are ppl dumb to think he knew nothing at all like he literally speaks English in his vlogs and stuff? Hes just comfortable speaking in his language otherwise normally and not so fluent in English. It's not some giant conspiracy or act,' whereas another wrote, 'Go watch the full interview OP, he clearly states at the beginning of this interview to the Grammy President that he doesn't know fluent English, but he's been learning and wants to try speaking it more, hence him doing this interview. So by your logic, a person shouldn't learn new skills, and if they do, they were fibbing lol.' Sardaar Ji 3, also starring Neeru Bajwa, is set to release overseas on June 27. It will not be released in Indian theatres.

Dharmendra was the highest paid actor for 'Sholay', Amitabh Bachchan was paid ₹1 lakh while Jaya Bachchan's fee was the lowest
When Sholay hit theatres in August 1975, few could've predicted that it would go on to define an era—and remain etched in the hearts of generations to come. As the legendary film marks its 50th anniversary this year, fascinating details from behind the scenes have resurfaced, offering a glimpse into its making and the people who brought it to life. Financially, the film's cast was paid modestly by today's standards. Dharmendra was reportedly the highest-paid actor on the sets, receiving ₹1.5 lakh for his portrayal of Veeru. Sanjeev Kumar, who embodied the resilient Thakur Baldev Singh, was paid ₹1.25 lakh, while Amitabh Bachchan—now a towering figure in Indian cinema—was paid ₹1 lakh for his role as Jai. The menacing yet unforgettable Gabbar Singh , played by Amjad Khan, earned him ₹50,000. Among the leading ladies, Hema Malini took home ₹75,000, whereas Jaya Bachchan received the least—just ₹35,000. In a recent interview, Dharmendra opened up about how Amitabh Bachchan came to be cast as Jai. Surprisingly, the role was initially intended for Shatrughan Sinha. Dharmendra, however, advocated for Amitabh. Recounting the moment, he shared, 'Amitabh used to come meet me often and sit by my side. I once told Ramesh Sippy ji, 'This new boy, listen to his voice—he has something special. He has this fire, this inner drive. Take him.'' The veteran actor revealed that he never claimed credit openly, but it was his quiet endorsement that helped Bachchan land the iconic part. Reflecting on the experience of working on Sholay, Dharmendra fondly remarked, 'This film, I believe, is made for centuries to come.' His sentiment echoes the timeless impact the film continues to have, half a century after its release.
