Bah Kano Open Day strengthens TLDM's ties with local community

KOTA KINABALU: The Bah Kano Armada Timur Open Day 2025 was officially launched with much fanfare by Eastern Fleet Commander Vice Admiral Datuk Khir Junaidi Idris at the Royal Malaysian Navy (TLDM) Base here on Saturday. Held in conjunction with TLDM's anniversary, the two-day event from Saturday to Sunday offers the public a close-up experience of naval life, including guided visits aboard seven TLDM vessels and the KD Tunku Abdul Rahman submarine. Crowd favourites include a silent drill performance by TLDM's Lumut team, an air and maritime demonstration by Paskal, four combat boats, and an AW139 maritime operations helicopter. Also featured are 122 food vendors and exhibits from the Malaysian Army, Maritime Enforcement Agency, Submarine Command Headquarters, and other military and civil service agencies. AUBURN: Some 30 Sabahans from across the United States gathered here, recently, for the fifth annual North Borneo Sabahan Abroad Kaamatan Celebration, maintaining cultural traditions thousands of miles from home. It was hosted by Jo Monjuil-Frinak and Tim Frinak at their Auburn home and drew participants from Arizona, Texas, Arkansas, Georgia, Florida and Ohio. What began as a modest gathering five years ago has evolved into an annual homecoming for Sabahans living in the US. Advertisement The event featured a unique addition this year when Malaysian storyboard artist Glen Bosiwang, visiting his sister Kim Bosiwang in Phoenix, documented the celebration through his cartoon illustrations, capturing the spirit of Kaamatan in artistic form. Unlike formal cultural events, the Kaamatan Abroad celebration operates without any central committees or rigid protocols. US Immigration service detain top TikToker Khaby Lame: Reports

"US Immigration and Customs Enforcement detained Seringe Khabane Lame, 25, a citizen of Italy, on June 6, at the Harry Reid International Airport, Las Vegas, Nevada for immigration violations," the ICE said in a statement to Agence France-Presse. Advertisement According to authorities, Lame entered the United States on April 30, but it turned out that he had overstayed his visa. The blogger was released on the day of his detention, after which he voluntarily left the country. Lame is a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and one of the most popular TikTok influencers, with more than 162 million followers. No travel ban on Fahmi Reza, IGP confirms

He said Fahmi Reza's name was included in the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) movement monitoring list for internal record and reference purposes due to ongoing investigations involving him. Advertisement 'However, it must be emphasised that this list does not imply any restrictions but is part of the standard monitoring procedures implemented by the authorities,' he said in a statement today. Razarudin said the confusion occurred during the exit clearance process yesterday, resulting in the erroneous issuance of a movement restriction order, adding that the matter is being reviewed with appropriate steps to be taken to refine existing procedures. 'PDRM remains committed to protecting and respecting the freedom of movement of every Malaysian, and the individual concerned is free to travel in and out of the country as usual, subject to any regulations set by the Immigration Department and other relevant laws,' he said.
