Jason Jones may testify at wife's trial

Yahoo06-06-2025
LAUREL, Neb. (KCAU) — A man who was found guilty of killing four people in Laurel, Nebraska, may now be asked to testify at his wife's trial.
Court documents indicate that prosecutors filed a motion for deposition on May 28, asking a judge to approve the state's request to have Jason deposed before Carrie Jones' trial begins.
Prosecutors say they believe Jason will testify for multiple reasons. One reason includes a letter dated January 2 of 2025, and authored by Carrie stating her husband is supposed to be a witness at her trial.
Carrie is facing three charges, including one count of 1st-degree murder. A hearing is set for June 12, with a jury trial scheduled for July 28 in Madison County.

Jason has a status hearing scheduled for July 25. Back in September of 2024, a jury found Jason Jones guilty of 10 charges, including four counts of 1st-degree murder.

Plane Stolen Twice In One Week Begs The Question: Just How Easy Is It To Steal A Plane?

Plane theft is an exceedingly rare crime. The pool of potential plane thieves isn't large, with there being fewer than 1 million active pilots in the United States. However, one plane owner has been figuratively struck by lightning twice. A single Cessna 172 was stolen twice over the past week from two general aviation airports in Southern California. The aircraft was found and recovered both times, but law enforcement has yet to identify a suspect in either theft. It would have been hard to miss Jason Hong's Cessna 172 at Corona Airport, roughly 18 miles west of Anaheim. The 75-year-old's plane is painted in distinctive red, orange, yellow and blue stripes. It's not yet clear how or when the Cessna departed the airport, but Hong contacted the Corona Police Department once he realized the plane was missing, KCAL reports. The single-engine aircraft was found parked at another airport, Brackett Field, 17 miles away. He told the airport's manager that he'd come back in a few days with a fully-charged battery. However, the plane went missing again. The Cessna was found at San Gabriel Valley Airport in El Monte, California, roughly 12 miles west of downtown Los Angeles, by the El Monte Police Department. Patrol officers found the plane parked on the tarmac, chained to a bolt. This time, we know the plane was flown to the airport because the facility's CCTV camera would have seen the aircraft towed through the gates. According to KNBC, an eyewitness saw a woman with the plane at the airport. While commercial airliners don't have ignition keys, it's not a guarantee that small turboprop planes do as well. Small planes often don't have locks either. The most significant deterrent to private plane theft is the security at the airport when the plane is parked. According to KVVU, a string of plane thefts in 2024, three over six weeks across the entire country, led to an increase in scrutiny over its poor security at general aviation airports. A stolen 1,700-pound single-engine might not pose the same threat as a 65,300-pound twin-engine jet, but it can still be a danger to the public if anyone can just take one for a joyride. GOP Rep. threatened with murder by fmr. gov't funded media employee

A former employee of Voice of America was arrested and charged on Thursday for allegedly making repeated threats against Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) and her family for over 15 months. In a Thursday press release, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia announced that 64-year-old Seth Jason had been arrested by U.S. Capitol Police and the Anne Arundel Police Department and charged with 'influencing a federal official by threatening a family member, influencing a federal official by threat, interstate communications with a threat to kidnap or injure, and anonymous telecommunications harassment.' According to Fox News, U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro explained that Jason, who has been identified as a former employee of the government-funded Voice of America news organization, 'repeatedly and continuously' made threats against Greene and her family from October of 2023 to January of 2025. The outlet noted that Jason worked at Voice of America until retiring a few months ago. Pirro told reporters that in one of Jason's alleged threats against the Republican congresswoman, he said, 'I'm looking forward to your book signing. We are all armed and ready to take care of you. We're coming after you and your staff, and we are locked and loaded. We're going to take you all out. We've got our AK-47s. You're going to get one between the eyes. Bam, bam, bam.' The press release added that Jason made eight calls in fifteen months and threatened to use firearms to 'kill Rep. Greene, her staff, and their families.' In a statement to Fox News, Greene said, 'For 15 months, I received terrifying death threats from one individual who worked alarmingly close to my office building at the Voice of America. That kind of sustained, targeted harassment is deeply disturbing. I truly feared for my life, as I do with all of the death threats I receive.' 'I want to thank U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro, Senior Advisor Kari Lake, the Capitol Police, and the prosecutors who took this threat seriously and acted decisively to stop someone who was planning to kill me,' Greene added. 'Threatening an elected official, their family, or their staff is not free speech; it's a crime, and it must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. My family and I are incredibly grateful. Justice must be served.'

A longtime Voice of America employee has been arrested for allegedly threatening to kill Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene — including a call where he threatened to shoot her 'between the eyes' with an AK-47. Seth Jason — who is also a reserve police officer with the Maryland department that arrested him Thursday — made at leats eight calls over 15 months threatening 'the use of firearms to kill Rep. Greene, her staff and their families,' federal prosecutors said Thursday. The calls 'were made from various phone lines connected to studios and control rooms at Voice of America headquarters,' the feds said of the government-funded broadcast network 'where Jason had worked as a longtime employee,' with the final call in January. 'I'm looking forward to your book signing. We are all armed and ready to take care of you,' he allegedly said in one, according to prosecutors. 3 Ex-VOA employee Seth Jason allegedly threatened to assault and kill Rep. We're going to take you all out,' the call continued. 'We've got our AK-47s. You're going to get one between the eyes. Bam, bam, bam.' Jason, 64, of Edgewater, Md., was arrested early Thursday by US Capitol Police as well as the Anne Arundel Police Department — where he had worked as a volunteer reserve officer since 2016. The Anne Arundel department said one of its volunteers was arrested, while saying is no longer affiliated with the department. Jason began working at the VOA in 2001, according to his LinkedIn. Getty Images Interim US Attorney for the District of Columbia, Jeanine Pirro, said the threats were made 'repeatedly and continuously.' 'You threaten a public official, and you face the full force of the law crushing down on you,' she warned. 'There will be no mercy and no excuses.' Jason was indicted on four charges for influencing a federal official by threatening a family member, influencing a federal official by threat, interstate communications with a threat to kidnap or injure, and anonymous telecommunications harassment, according to his arrest warrant. 3 The threatening calls came from multiple phone lines linked to studios and control rooms at VOA headquarters.
