Swiggy Instamart to deliver gold and silver coins from Kalyan Jewellers
Swiggy Instamart will deliver gold and silver coins of various weights from Kalyan Jewellers to customers in a matter of minutes, announced the companies in a press note.
The coins now available through the quick commerce service include include 0.5 gram and 1 gram gold coins, as well as 5 gram, 10 gram, and 20 gram silver coins. The 24-Karat, BIS hallmarked gold coins and the certified, 999 pure silver coins both come with decorative motifs.
The coins will be available to order all year round, though they are being launched in preparation for the Akshaya Tritiya festival, when it is trendy to buy precious metals.
Swiggy Instamart customers can use the service to order gold and silver coins across all 100 cities, including top metros, the company said.

Blinkit also offers gold and silver coin deliveries in a matter of minutes, with the launch scheduled around the Diwali and Dhanteras festival last year.

Under this order, a wide range of industrial, construction, and electrical machinery will be brought under mandatory BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) certification. The list includes over 400 products grouped under 90 Indian Standards, covering critical equipment categories such as pumps, compressors, cranes, packaging machinery, switchgear, and machine tools. The order covers 43 categories of machinery and products, including construction, earthmoving, and mining equipment; textile machinery such as looms and embroidery machines; packaging machinery such as filling, sealing, and labeling units; thermal treatment machinery used in manufacturing processes; metal-cutting and stone-working machine tools; pumps and compressors for handling liquids and gases; cranes and lifting machinery; and more. He said since the new regulations under OTR 2024 will come into effect on Aug 28 this year, it will become mandatory for manufacturers to obtain a license by then. This is the first time in India that such an extensive order has been issued to ensure safety, he added. All manufacturers and importers of these products will be required to obtain BIS certification through the Manakonline portal, he said. However, behind the scenes, the workers who make this convenience possible face significant challenges. A recent Reddit post by a part-time Blinkit worker has exposed the harsh realities behind India's growing demand for 10-minute delivery. "We all love the idea of getting groceries or snacks delivered in 10 minutes, but most people have no idea what goes on behind that 'ultrafast' service. The pressure on workers is next-level — and honestly, kind of scary," the post on Reddit read. The worker, who balanced his job as a picker and packer with studies, shared his firsthand experience of intense pressure, frequent accidents, and unsafe working conditions. According to the post, workers are under constant stress, with supervisors exerting "crazy, non-stop pressure" and a timer system called PPI (per picking item) that adds to the strain. The worker described the warehouses, known as dark stores, as small and cluttered with racks and items. Employees are expected to run, not just walk quickly, while picking orders, navigating through crowded spaces and sharp corners, and racing against time. The worker shared personal experiences of accidents, including a collision with another employee that resulted in a broken phone. "I've had a few accidents. Once, I collided with another guy and broke my phone. These kinds of things happen almost daily because it's all rush and no safety. We had to follow a timer called PPI (Per Picking Item). If it takes even a few extra seconds to find an item (maybe it's misplaced or out of stock), the manager tells you to log out and go home. The pressure from higher-ups is crazy, and managers just pass it on to the workers," he added.
