Nashville police take driver into custody after he evades them twice
Nashville police arrested a man who evaded officers twice during a Street Racer Initiative on Saturday night.
More: Why arresting drivers, seizing cars isn't enough to combat street racing in Nashville
A Dodge Charger, driven by 27-year-old Frank Eduardo Reyes-Borrayo, was seen driving at a high rate of speed on Nolensville Pike at Harding Place when officers attempted an initial traffic stop, police said.
The vehicle fled and was followed by MNPD Aviation to Edmondson Pike near Old Hickory Boulevard.
Officers then initiated a second traffic stop.
Police say the driver failed to yield a second time, traveling at 100 miles per hour and passing other vehicles in center turn lanes to evade officers.
Police successfully took the driver into custody after he backed the vehicle into a parking space in the 2500 block of Murfreesboro Pike.
According to a release, a semi-automatic pistol was recovered from the driver's side door.
Reyes-Borrayo is not a U.S. citizen and cannot lawfully possess a firearm, police said.
He faces several charges including felony reckless endangerment, not having a driver's license, unlawful possession of a firearm and two counts of evading arrest.
He remains in jail on a $27,000 bond.

Ice Officers Assaulted During Raid That Nabbed 70 Illegal Immigrants At Meat Plant: Dhs Immigration attorney Mustafa Cetin told that around 50 detainees at the private facility pushed down a dormitory wall after becoming agitated when meals were delayed. "It's about the food, and some of the detainees were getting aggressive and it turned violent," Cetin said. He added that his client reported the wall was "not very strong" and described detainees hanging bedsheets in what may have been an escape attempt. The client also said he smelled gas during the incident. By 6 p.m., dozens of officers from the Essex County Sheriff's Office and Newark Police were present, according to Rutgers University-Newark professor Whitney Strub, who posted images of the police presence and said he and others outside the jail "were all coughing at the same time," after being exposed to what they believed was "some kind of gas," reported. 4 detainees unaccounted for after unrest at immigration facility
(NewsNation) — A search is underway Friday for four migrants who went missing from a New Jersey U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention center, according to the Department of Homeland Security. The detainees escaped from Delaney Hall in Newark on Thursday amid reports of unrest. Officials are still trying to determine how they managed to escape. The DHS is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the four individuals who escaped. Hondurans Franklin Norberto Bautista-Reyes, Joel Enrique Sandoval-Lopez, Joan Sebastian Castaneda-Lozada, and Andres Pineda-Mogollon, from Colombia, are the men on the run, according to the DHS. They are all illegal entrants into the United States, per DHS. Additional 'law enforcement partners' have been brought in to help locate them, according to a statement attributed to a senior DHS official that was emailed to The Associated Press. DHS did not name the agencies involved. LA grandma self-deports to Mexico, leaving family behind Newark Mayor Ras Baraka referenced reports of a possible uprising and escape Thursday night. 'We are concerned about reports of what has transpired at Delaney Hall this evening, ranging from withholding food and poor treatment, to uprising and escaped detainees,' Baraka said in a statement obtained by NewsNation local affiliate WPIX. Protesters outside the facility locked arms and pushed against barricades, while vehicles moved through the gates, according to the AP. The Delaney Hall facility, which houses up to 1,000 detainees, opened earlier this year under the Trump administration's immigration enforcement push. DHS Secretary Noem attends ICE raid at LA County home Photos and videos from outside the facility showed protesters clashing with security. Mustafa Cetin, who represents a detainee, told tensions escalated after delayed meals sparked unrest inside. 'It's about the food, and some of the detainees were getting aggressive, and it turned violent,' attorney Cetin said. 'Based on what he told me, it was an outer wall, not very strong, and they were able to push it down.' One woman told WNBC-TV she rushed to the center after her detained husband called about a lockdown and a protest over inhumane conditions. She said she's worried for his safety. Attorneys representing detainees say they've been unable to reach their clients or enter the facility since the incident, according to a spokesperson for the American Friends Service Committee, a nonprofit that advocates for immigrants.
