Rajmargyatra app to help motorists choose best route available to reach destination
The feature will suggest different routes, including the alternative with the lowest toll charges to the motorists. This service will be available from next month.
Officials said that with the launch of the new feature, the highway users would be at liberty to choose a route to reach a destination as per their convenience to save travelling time or toll fees.
'There are two best possible routes to reach Agra from Delhi. One can take the Yamuna Expressway or National Highway 44 (Mathura Road). The app will inform users which route will attract a lower toll,' said officials while explaining the purpose of the feature.
Google Maps provides live traffic data and real-time GPS navigation for driving, walking, cycling and public transport. It also suggests routes with estimated toll charges. Moreover, it offers options to avoid tolls entirely or prioritise routes based on the preferences of the user.
The move is being seen as another strategic attempt by the NHAI to increase downloads and usage of the Rajmargyatra app.

Statistically Speaking, You are Smarter than You Think!!!
Every morning, we wake up, glance at the weather app, scroll through social media and plan our day. It all feels routine but behind these small actions lies something powerful and invisible STATISTICS. Think about that weather forecast telling you there is a 70% chance of rain. That number is not a guess; it is the result of years of weather data analysed by predictive models. When you grab your umbrella because of it, you are already making a data-driven decision without realizing it. Many assume statistics is a dry subject reserved for researchers or economists. But the truth is, it quietly shapes how we live, work, shop and stay healthy. Let us take a closer look at how statistics is deeply rooted into our daily lives now. From Alarm Clocks to Breakfast Cereal Why do you set your alarm for 6:30 AM instead of 7:00? Likely because you have noticed statistically that you feel better after seven hours of sleep. Even your smartwatch telling you your sleep score was 82% is built on statistical analysis of heart rate, movement and breathing patterns. At the breakfast table, choosing between two cereal boxes one with 120 calories and the other with 180 is a simple statistical comparison. A label claiming '90% of customers loved this cereal'? it is based on survey sampling and not just marketing flair. Your Daily Commute is Data-Driven Ever wonder how Google Maps predicts traffic so well? It uses real-time data from thousands of vehicles, compares it with historical trends and applies algorithms to offer the fastest route. If you take public transport, schedules and routes are designed using commuter's data and usage patterns. The on-time bus or train is the result of countless statistical calculations working quietly behind the scenes. Workplace Decisions - All About the Numbers In the office, statistics is everywhere from the sales dashboard to your performance review. Marketing teams use testing of hypothesis to decide which ad performs better. HR teams analyse employee surveys and retention rates to improve company culture. Even project assignments and promotions are backed by metrics comparing productivity and output. Your workday might feel full of meetings and e-mails but beneath it all lies a world of data guiding decisions. Smart Shopping with Statistics Do you believe that your shopping app is reading your mind? No, it is reading your behaviour. Your apps use your search history and buying habits to make suggestions based on statistical methods such as collaborative filtering. Even promotional combos such as 'Buy pasta, get cheese' result from looking at which products are being bought in combination which is the market basket analysis. You are not merely shopping by instinct; you are led by algorithms that understand what you and others like you usually purchase. Money Matters - Everyday Math Managing your finances is not all about addition and subtraction. By breaking down your expenses and monitoring your monthly spend, you are performing data visualization to spot trends. Need to know whether you are spending too much on food or subscriptions? That's descriptive statistics in action. Your credit rating to grant loans or determine credit limits is based on a sophisticated statistical logistic regression model. It looks at your payment track record, credit balance and other conduct to forecast how probable you are to repay. Banks use this information to determine important financial choices. Health & Fitness - Numbers that Heal Whether it is counting your steps, calories burned or heart rate; fitness apps are transforming raw data into actionable information. Over time, those trends and graphs keep you informed about your health. Physicians and scientists use even more advanced statistical techniques. When a drug is said to work 95% of the time, that is the data derived from clinical trials and probability modelling. Public health policy, vaccine licensure and even emergency planning are based on statistical data. In short, statistics do not merely keep us up to date they keep us safe. Social Media's Statistical Engine Curious why your YouTube or Instagram feed always seems to be on the same wavelength as you? All that liking, commenting and scrolling is monitored and analysed to make your feed personalized. Algorithms also rely on engagement metrics to determine what content appears first. Meme creators also live by numbers monitoring reach, click-throughs and watch time to optimize their posts. In the digital era, statistics is the language of influence. News, Polls & Public Opinion When you see headlines such as 'Unemployment at 6%' or 'Polls forecast close race,' you are witnessing the effects of survey sampling. Because it is impossible to poll everybody, statisticians take representative samples and use models to make predictions about trends. They also utilize aids such as confidence intervals and margin of error to report the accuracy of results. It is statistics that enables a small sample to voice the opinion of a nation. The Big Picture - Why this matters Knowing the fundamentals of statistics gives you an invisible superpower. It enables you to challenge deceptive statements, perceive patterns and make better decisions whether you are saving, spending or just browsing. In an information-cluttered world, statistical thinking is no indulgence but a life skill. It makes you think well, act sensibly and live well. Guess What? You are Already a Statistician You don't have a degree in statistics but you are applying it every day. Comparing prices, selecting restaurants from reviews, planning travel time all involve statistical thinking. So, the next time someone complains about statistics remind them they are living it, breathing it and gaining from it every single day. For at its core, statistics is not necessarily about complicated equations; it is about interpreting life. Once you start noticing statistics in action, you will realize you have been thinking smart all along. 'This article is part of sponsored content programme.'

Bandikui-Jaipur Expressway open to public, cuts Delhi-Jaipur travel time to 3 hours
Gurugram: The Bandikui-Jaipur Expressway — part of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway — has been opened to the public, significantly slashing travel time between Delhi-NCR and Jaipur in Rajasthan. The 66.91-kilometre-long Bandikui-Jaipur Expressway was constructed at a cost of ₹ 1,368 crore. (HT PHOTO) The new route, opened to commuters on July 15 after safety checks, is expected to reduce Delhi-Jaipur travel time to just two-and-a-half to three hours under normal conditions, National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) officials said. For Amit Yadav, a Gurugram-based IT consultant, it took three-and-a-half hours to reach Jaipur instead of the usual five to five-and-a-half hours using the Bandikui-Jaipur Expressway. 'Last weekend, we drove down to my in-laws' house in Jaipur. We took the new route and the entire journey was incredibly smooth—no heavy vehicles, no city traffic, no bottlenecks. We left at 7 am and reached our destination before 10:30 am,' Yadav said. Similarly, Pallavi Mehra, a Delhi-based marketing executive, took the new route to visit her parents in Jaipur. 'I had heard that the route was partially open, but I didn't know it is fully operational now. Last Saturday we took the new route, and it felt like a completely different experience. The old NH-48 was full of traffic and diversions, but this new expressway felt like an airport runway,' Mehra, who visits her parents in Jaipur every fortnight, said. It was fully opened to the public after all safety checks and road signage were completed,' a senior NHAI official, requesting anonymity, said. The 66.91-kilometre-long Bandikui-Jaipur Expressway was constructed at a cost of ₹1,368 crore. Nashik To Akkalkot In Just 4 Hours? The Link On The Chennai-Surat Expressway Gets A Green Signal
Last Updated: Once complete, the travel time between Nashik and Akkalkot will drop from 9 hours to just 4 hours. The long-awaited Nashik–Akkalkot highway is finally set to roll out. After facing several delays, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has now decided to move forward with this key stretch under the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model. The final proposal has been submitted to the Centre, and tenders will be floated once it gets the green signal, as per Swarajya. Why Is This Highway So Important? The Nashik–Akkalkot corridor is part of the massive 1,271 km Chennai–Surat Expressway, which links six Indian states – Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu. This route connects major cities like Surat, Nashik, Solapur, and Tirupati, boosting trade and travel. The 374-km Nashik–Akkalkot stretch is considered one of the most vital segments of the expressway. It will have six lanes and will be built in two parts: Earlier, the project was floated under the hybrid annuity model but didn't take off due to technical and financial challenges. This led NHAI to adopt the BOT model instead, allowing private players to take a more active role. Now, with the Public-Private Partnership Appraisal Committee giving its nod, the project is back on track. How Will This Benefit Travellers? Once the road is ready, travel time between Nashik and Akkalkot will drop from nine hours to just four. And when the full expressway is complete, Nashik to Surat could be done in as little as two hours. Additionally, the route will connect to the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway at Navsari, providing better access to the national capital and strengthening transport links between the west and south of India. view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
