'No Political Motive Behind Ram Temple Construction,' Says Committee Chief Nripendra Misra

Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Construction Committee Chairman Nripendra Misra on Wednesday said that there is 'no political objectives" behind the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh.
Speaking to PTI, Misra also confirmed that the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya will be completed by June 5.
'No political objectives behind Ram Temple construction… This moment has come after over 500 years of struggle," Misra said.
Speaking more about the construction of the temple, Misra stated that it has been built in three phases. 'In the first phase, the ground floor, where the child form of Lord Ram was to be installed in the Garbh Griha, was completed in early 2024, and the Pran Pratishtha was performed. Now, the construction of the first and second floors is nearly complete," he said.
Misra further noted that the ongoing work on the first and second floors is nearing completion. The Ram Darbar, which includes idols of Lord Ram, Sita, Lord Ram's brothers, and Hanuman, will be installed in the sanctum on the second floor.
He said that the final ' Pran Pratishtha ' of the Ram Darbar will take place between June 3 and 5, completing the sacred project. 'The final phase of construction and Pran Pratishtha is scheduled for June 5," Misra added.
Following the ceremony, a new portion of the temple will be opened to the public within a week, Misra confirmed.
Misra also said that no VIPs from the central or state governments will be invited to the June 5 ceremony.
'Instead, spiritual leaders from different beliefs will be invited to take part in the consecration ceremony," he stated.
Misra, who is the former principal secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is serving as the head of the construction committee and has been closely involved in the coordination and progress of the temple work. The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust is overseeing the temple's construction.

Amid China's restrictions on exports of rare earth elements and magnets, Indian automakers have sought Modi government's help in expediting approvals from the Chinese government for importing rare earth magnets, reported news agency PTI. China controls more than 90% of global processing capacity for the magnets, used across several sectors such as automobiles, home appliances and clean energy. Beijing had imposed curbs, with effect from April 4, mandating special export licences for seven rare earth elements and related magnets. Several domestic suppliers have sought approval from the Chinese government through their local vendors in China, but no approvals have been granted so far, according to the PTI report citing industry sources. Last week, Maruti Suzuki India Senior Executive Officer (Corporate Affairs) Rahul Bharti said China has asked for an end-user certificate, endorsed by the Indian government and approved by the Chinese government. "So that process is on and industry is in discussion with the government," he stated. In Japan, Suzuki Motor has already suspended production of its Swift car because of China's curbs. Rare earth magnets are used for multiple applications in electric vehicles (EVs) – electric motors, regenerative braking systems, power steering etc. They have high magnetic energy storage capacity with low coercivity at high operating temperatures. The curbs on export of the rare earth magnets by China could have serious implications such as inflationary pressures or disruption in production for the auto industry. The critical materials include, samarium, gadolinium, terbium, dysprosium and lutetium, which are essential in electric motors, braking systems, smartphones and missile technology. On Saturday, the Union Commerce Ministry said China approved a certain number of export license applications for rare earth-related metals. The approval was granted considering rising global demand for medium and heavy rare earth elements driven by industries such as robotics and new energy vehicles, a spokesperson of the Commerce Ministry said. Rare earth-related items have dual-use attributes for both military and civilian purposes, the spokesperson said. China will continue to strengthen the review of compliant applications and is ready to enhance communication and dialogue on export controls with relevant countries to facilitate compliant trade, the spokesperson said.

Encroachers can't claim right to continue occupying public land: Delhi HC
New Delhi, Jun 8 (PTI) The Delhi High Court has held that encroachers cannot claim a right to continue occupying public land till their rehabilitation claims are not resolved, as this would unduly impede public projects. The high court made the observation while granting liberty to the DDA to proceed with the demolition action at Bhoomiheen Camp in South Delhi's Kalkaji in accordance with law. Justice Dharmesh Sharma said the writ petitions were not only flawed due to the misjoinder of multiple parties with multiple causes of action, but also failed to meet the essential threshold provided by the Delhi Slum and JJ Rehabilitation and Relocation Policy for being considered eligible for relocation and rehabilitation. 'None of the petitioners have any legal right to continue occupying the JJ cluster incessantly, to the detriment of the public at large," the court said in its order passed on June 6. The court passed the judgment on a batch of petitions, involving around 1,200 people, seeking direction to the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to suspend any further demolition activity, maintain the status quo at the site, and refrain from physically evicting the petitioners from their respective 'jhuggi jhopri' clusters. The petitioners also sought a direction to the DUSIB to conduct a proper and comprehensive survey of the affected residents and rehabilitate them in accordance with the 2015 policy. The high court said there can be no gainsaying that the petitioners have no vested right to seek rehabilitation, as it is not an absolute constitutional entitlement available to encroachers such as themselves. 'The right to rehabilitation arises solely from the prevailing policy that binds them. The determination of eligibility for rehabilitation is a separate process from the removal of encroachers from public land. 'Encroachers cannot claim a right to continue occupying public land pending the resolution of their rehabilitation claims under the applicable policy, as this would unduly impede public projects," it said. The court, however, allowed rehabilitation of some of them and directed the DDA to allocate the EWS category flats. According to officials cited by news agency PTI, resignation remains his only option to avoid a Parliamentary motion for removal, which, if passed, would strip him of pension and retirement benefits. Justice Varma came under scrutiny after a fire at his Delhi residence in March led to the discovery of several burnt sacks of unaccounted cash in the outhouse. Though he denied knowledge of the money, a Supreme Court-appointed in-house panel, led by then Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna, found him culpable after recording witness statements and Varma's own deposition. Based on this report, Justice Khanna urged the President and Prime Minister to initiate his removal, PTI reported. As per Article 217 of the Constitution, a High Court judge may resign by writing to the President. The resignation becomes valid without requiring formal acceptance. If a judge resigns, they retain post-retirement entitlements. However, if removed by Parliament, they lose all such benefits. In Parliament, a motion for removal must be supported by at least 50 Rajya Sabha or 100 Lok Sabha members. 'It cannot be brushed aside,' Rijiju was quoted as saying by PTI, adding that reconciling the existing report with the statutory inquiry process will be a matter for the Speaker or Chairman to decide. Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar, while meeting members of the Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association, expressed dismay over the lack of a criminal investigation into the matter. 'A very painful incident happened... There was a cash haul, obviously tainted, unaccounted and illegal,' he said. Dhankhar criticised the judiciary's internal mechanism for shielding its members from FIRs, saying, 'Unless permission is accorded by a functionary at the highest level in the judiciary, an FIR can't be registered.' Justice Varma has since been transferred to the Allahabad High Court, where he has not been allotted any judicial duties. Rijiju has begun consultations with political parties to build consensus on the motion, which could be the first impeachment to be taken up in the new Parliament building. The Monsoon session of Parliament is scheduled from July 21 to August 12.
