Bharat 6G a national mission: Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani to industry
Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani
on Wednesday urged stakeholders to view '
Bharat 6G
' as a national mission, and stressed that India aims to resolutely lead the development of sixth-generation (6G) technologies.
At an industry event, Pemmasani highlighted the country's transformation from a technology adopter to a standard-setter and urged all stakeholders to treat
Bharat 6G
not merely as a technical pursuit but as a national mission, the Central government said in an official statement.
He termed 6G as a transformative opportunity that can redefine connectivity for the future generations, and outlined its potential to revolutionise sectors such as healthcare, education, agriculture, and smart cities.
Pemmasani said the
Bharat 6G Vision
document has envisioned an ambitious path for India to design, develop, and deploy
6G technologies
by 2030.
He stated that Bharat's 6G Vision aims to position India as a global 6G leader by 2030 through the
Bharat 6G Alliance
, over 111 funded research projects, global partnerships with Japan, Singapore, and Finland, and breakthroughs in terahertz communication and AI-native networks, as per the statement.
Bharat 6G Vision is based on principles of affordability, sustainability and ubiquity. The Department of Telecommunications has facilitated the setting up of 'Bharat 6G Alliance', an industry grouping of domestic industry, academia, national research institutions and standards organisations to develop an action plan as outlined in the document.
'6G presents not merely an incremental improvement, but a fundamental transformation… enabling terahertz frequency bands, 1 terabit per second speeds, sub-millisecond latency, intelligent self-healing networks, and volumetric connectivity — from underwater to aerospace,' Pemmasani said, as per the statement.
He noted that India's approach is to develop technology, shape global standards, and lead digital transformation for the benefit of humanity.
He added that India has the 'necessary scale, innovation capacity, and political will to lead the global 6G journey'.

Claims by Congress that BRS pushed State into debts proved wrong by Parliament: KTR
BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao said the Congress's claims that the BRS has pushed Telangana into a debt of ₹8 lakh crore is utterly false and misleading, and it was revealed in the Parliament by the Central government. Mr. Rama Rao in a statement, said the Central government itself admitted that the State's debt under the BRS government was not ₹8 lakh crore but only ₹3.5 lakh crore. 'The allegations made by Revanth Reddy and others regarding the BRS government's debt were proven to be blatant lies in Parliament today. Where would Revanth Reddy and other Congress leaders now hide their faces,' he asked. Mr. Rama Rao clarified that when the BRS government left office on March 31, 2024, the State's debt was only ₹3,50,520.39 crore. He said the BRS government never took on unnecessary debt. Instead, the loans were used not just for welfare schemes but also for creating long-term assets for future generations. 'These funds were spent on projects like Mission Bhagiratha, Mission Kakatiya, the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme, the Kaleshwaram Project and other infrastructure developments. Mr. Rama Rao asserted that the State's rapid progress was a result of the BRS government's financial discipline and efficiency under K. Chandrashekar Rao's leadership,' he claimed. For the fiscal year 2023-24, while Telangana's debt was ₹3,50,520.39 crore, the value of State government assets stood at ₹4,15,099.69 crore. This means the value of assets was ₹64,579 crore more than the debt. Mr. Rama Rao pointed out that for the last six fiscal years (2018-19 to 2023-24), the value of Telangana's assets has increased by over ₹50,000 crore annually, which he cited as evidence of the BRS government's efficiency. Mr. Rama Rao demanded that the Revanth Reddy's government explain why it has taken on so much debt without building a single new project or implementing any of the promised welfare schemes.

K.N. Rajanna, known for sparking controversies, finally exits Cabinet
K.N. Rajanna, leader from the Scheduled Tribes community who has now been sacked from the State Cabinet, has been sparking controversies continuously in the ruling Congress over the last two years. Known to be a close aide of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and a strong critic of the functioning of Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, Mr. Rajanna, 74, elected from Madhugiri constituency in Tumakuru district, has embarrassed the Congress high command on many occasions by issuing public statements on party and government matters. The three-time MLA and one-time MLC's latest remarks about alleged irregularities in voter lists has dismayed the party high command, which apparently directed Mr. Siddaramaiah to sack him from the Cabinet. Mr. Rajanna's remarks came at a time when the Congress, led by Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, has launched a nationwide protest against 'vote theft'. Mr. Gandhi staged a protest in Bengaluru on August 8. The high command's direction to sack Mr. Rajanna from the Cabinet is also seen as a stern message to the Chief Minister's loyalists to adhere to the party's discipline. History of controversies In the past, Mr. Rajanna had made several controversial statements which had embarrassed the party leaders. During the Budget Session of the legislature in March, Mr. Rajanna triggered a controversy claiming that vested interests had honey-trapped 48 people, including legislators and Central leaders. His remarks apparently did not go down well with the high command when the Parliament Session was on. Incidentally, on the day of Mr. Rajanna's sacking, the Assembly passed a resolution revoking the suspension of 18 BJP MLAs. The legislators were suspended for six months for creating a ruckus while protesting against the 'honey-trap' allegations by Mr. Rajanna. A few days ago, Mr. Rajanna, who was actively involved in the cooperative sector since the early 1970s, was removed as Minister in charge of Hassan district. In the game of one-upmanship between Mr. Siddaramaiah and Mr. Shivakumar, Mr. Rajanna had demanded the appointment of three more Deputy Chief Ministers representing the Veerashaiva-Lingayats, the Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes, and the minority communities in an attempt to 'weaken' Mr. Shivakumar. He is currently holding multiple posts including that of the lone Deputy Chief Minister. Advocating the principle of 'one-person, one-post' as part of the Udaipur declaration of the Congress, Mr. Rajanna demanded replacement of Mr. Shivakuamar as the KPCC chief. Mr. Rajanna met Central leaders several times seeking execution of their announcement in 2023 that Mr. Shivakumar, who holds the post of KPCC chief, would be replaced after the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Dropping the leader from the Ministry is seen as an 'achievement' for Mr. Shivakumar. The leader, who was summoned by the ED in an alleged money-laundering case in 2019, has been saying that Mr. Siddaramaiah would be the Chief Minister for the full-term. In July, Mr. Rajanna made public his displeasure about AICC general secretary in-charge of Karnataka Randeep Singh Surjewala's one-to-one meetings with MLAs and Ministers. He even skipped the meeting with Mr. Surjewala. Predictions on September A couple of months ago, Mr. Rajanna claimed that 'major political developments' would take place after September in Karnataka, amid speculation about a possible Cabinet reshuffle and leadership change later this year.

Andhra Pradesh BJP cheif Madhav needs to question government on public issues: Former CM Kiran
KADAPA: 'While following the coalition dharma in the State, BJP chief PVN Madhav should also raise public issues without any hesitation. If we speak too much, those in power will be offended; if we speak too little, the people will be offended. Hence, the BJP should move forward balancing both,' observed former Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, while addressing a party meeting in Rayachoti on Sunday. Kiran also took aim at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, saying his allegations of election rigging against the BJP were baseless. He pointed out that the BJP had won 282 seats in 2014 and 303 in 2019, and questioned the logic behind Rahul's remarks, noting that if rigging had occurred in 2024, the BJP would have won far more than 240 Lok Sabha seats. He further criticised the Congress for its inability to address voter list irregularities in the States it rules, citing the Mahadevpura case in Karnataka. The meeting, held on a large scale in Annamayya district headquarters, was led by Madhav, who emphasised that the BJP never discriminates on caste, religion or community, and that minorities remain safe in the BJP-ruled States. He urged Muslim minorities to come forward with confidence to join the party. Highlighting local issues, Madhav called on BJP district, village and mandal leaders to strengthen the party at the grassroots, and take the BJP flag to every doorstep, Madhav said the Narendra Modi government was committed to village-level development, providing funds for drinking water, roads, schools, streetlights, and secretariats. He urged party workers to raise awareness about Central schemes among the people, and assured that those carrying the party's message would be duly recognised. On regional development, the State BJP president pledged to complete the Handri-Niva Sujala Sravanthi project at the earliest, rebuild the Annamayya project damaged during the previous YSRCP regime, and establish silk marketing facilities for local weavers. He also stressed the need for coalition government leaders to ensure basic facilities for party workers, and reiterated the BJP's commitment to the development of Rayalaseema.
