Caleb Holt, the No. 15 player for the 2026 class, will visit the Plains soon.
Auburn Tigers basketball is scheduled to receive an official visit from one the top players in the 2026 recruiting class. Five-star shooting guard Caleb Holt will be visiting the Tigers along with Alabama and Kentucky per Joe Tipton of On3.
According to 247Sports, Holt is the No. 6 player for 2026 and would be a huge commitment for the Tigers. The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine has Holt at 36% to Auburn with Alabama next at 24.6%. Ole Miss is also in the running for the guard.
Holt is a 6-foot-5 guard with a wingspan capable of also playing at the small forward position. He recently transferred to play his senior season at Prolific Prep in Fort Lauderdale, Florida after attending Grayson High School in Loganville, Georgia. He led Grayson to the GHSA AAAAAA semifinals this past season before being eliminated 68-53 by Wheeler. He is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 1 shooting guard and overall player.
Holt recently won a gold medal with Team USA when they defeated Germany 109-76 in the FIBA U19 World Cup. In a semi-final win over New Zealand, Holt led Team USA with 20 points in a 120-64 victory. How Holt performs with Prolific Prep will be interesting, as will his visit to Auburn soon.
Auburn has done well in both high school recruiting and making key transfer portal additions. The 2025 recruiting class ranked No. 15 according to 247Sports. A lot of fans and experts are excited about what guard Kaden Magwood can bring to the team this season. He has drawn comparisons to star guard Tahaad Pettiford. Auburn also has signed four-stars Sebastian Williams-Adams, Abdul Bashir, and Simon Walker.

Kirby Smart is looking forward to Georgia's night game at Auburn. 'It's a challenge.'

Auburn will face Georgia at JHS in the primetime window. The Georgia head coach spoke on the time slot Tuesday at SEC Media Days. One of the most highly anticipated games on the SEC docket this season will take place on Saturday, Oct. 11, at Jordan-Hare Stadium when the Auburn Tigers host the Georgia Bulldogs. Not only will the game be another chapter in "The Deep South's Oldest Rivalry," but the game will also be played at night for the first time since 2014. Jordan-Hare Stadium, especially during night games, is one of the most electrifying atmospheres in college football, which is why some are putting the defending SEC champions on upset alert ahead of their trip to the Plains. Georgia head coach Kirby Smart was asked about the upcoming game and to describe the atmosphere at Auburn's home stadium. Smart jokingly responded with "you want me to pump up Jordan-Hare?" before giving the atmosphere a ton of credit. 'It's already one of the iconic places to play college football,' Smart said via 'Some of the greatest games in SEC history have come out of that stadium. It's one of the toughest places to play in college football because of the passion and environment that they create.' Georgia has won eight games in a row over Auburn, but has lost several heartbreaking games inside Jordan-Hare Stadium over the last 15 years. The Bulldogs lost to Auburn, 40-17, in 2017 when they were ranked No. 1 in the country. A few other examples include the 2013 "Prayer at Jordan-Hare" game when Auburn quarterback Nick Marshall connected with wide receiver Ricardo Louis on a tipped pass within the final minute to escape an upset bid by the Bulldogs, and the 2010 game when Cam Newton led the Tigers to a 49-31 win. Smart was also asked about the possibility of the SEC switching to a nine-game format, which could affect the annual meeting between the Tigers and Bulldogs. Smart says that the annual rivalry game is one that he would hate to lose due to the tradition of the game, which has been played 129 times. 'That's a tradition I love,' Smart said. "I grew up in southwest Georgia where it was easier to get to Auburn than it was Georgia from where I lived. So, I respect that rivalry, but they're all big games." Hugh Freeze, QB Jackson Arnold are confident Auburn can be a winner in 2025

Associated Press ATLANTA (AP) — Hugh Freeze is in unfamiliar territory as he heads into year three as Auburn's coach. The former Arkansas State, Ole Miss and Liberty coach only had one losing season in his decade as a Division I head coach, but his first two seasons at Auburn have yielded meager results at 6-7 and 5-7. Last fall marked the first football season without a head coaching change in the SEC since 2018, but Freeze certainly enters 2025 on the hot seat. "I'm glad I'm at a place that has those expectations,' Freeze said Tuesday at SEC media days. 'I think when you've done this awhile, you really don't give into a lot of the pressure stuff.' Everything starts at quarterback with the highest profile of Auburn's 19 incoming transfers. Freeze signed former Oklahoma starter Jackson Arnold, hoping he can finally provide stability. Starting quarterback Payton Thorne and his backup Hank Brown both struggled last season particularly with ball security, as the Tigers threw 13 interceptions as a team and finished 119th nationally in turnover margin. Arnold himself struggled through a difficult season with the Sooners, losing his starting job for two games and playing the final five games of the regular season with an interim offensive coordinator. But between Freeze's quarterback-friendly system and a year of SEC experience now under his belt, there is optimism about the fresh start being mutually beneficial. 'Coach Freeze isn't scared to push the ball down the field, which I absolutely love,' Arnold said. 'I thought with my experience running the RPO game, I think it meshed well with what Coach Freeze wants to do with his offense.' He will have two of Auburn's top three receivers from last year in terms of both yards and touchdowns back with Cam Coleman and Malcolm Simmons, along with incoming transfer Eric Singleton Jr. from Georgia Tech. That combined with a returning nucleus on the offensive line led by center Connor Lew has Freeze expecting a sizable jump offensively. 'This is my favorite offensive line when I look at it on paper,' Freeze said. 'We'd better be able to run the football and protect the quarterback, because I think we're pretty talented up there.' Heading into 2025 Freeze is not only 11-14 overall, but 5-11 in SEC play, 2-6 in one-possession games and perhaps most damaging in the eyes of fans and administrators, 0-4 against rivals Alabama and Georgia. 'Our roster is one that can compete with those teams,' Freeze said, directly addressing the rivalry shortcomings. 'We've been in the games the first two years, but we haven't found a way to win.' Auburn will get both games at home, with Georgia playing at Jordan-Hare Stadium on Oct. 11 and Alabama coming in for the regular-season finale Nov. 29. ___ Get poll alerts and updates on the AP Top 25 throughout the season.
