Free support from leisure centres up for grabs for Somerset community heroes
A new scheme offering free support from leisure centres has been launched for community heroes in Taunton and Wellington.
Everyone Active, in partnership with Somerset Council, has started the Community Champions scheme to aid projects addressing local issues.
The initiative, which was launched on Thursday, May 1, aims to recognise the dedication of those who go above and beyond in their communities.
People involved in mentoring, promoting health and wellbeing, supporting inclusivity, or leading environmental or cultural projects are being encouraged to apply.
It can be a charitable initiative or a small, targeted project.
Successful applicants will secure valuable use of facilities within their local leisure centres to help them carry out these projects.
Everyone Active will raise awareness of this work to strengthen connections, encourage civic engagement and foster a culture of giving back.
Those selected for the Community Champions scheme are also in with a chance of being shortlisted for the Champions Awards in autumn of this year.
Mark Washington, Everyone Active's contract manager, said: "We are hugely excited to launch the Community Champions scheme, which we hope will make a real difference in Taunton and Wellington.
"We want to highlight the work of everyday heroes who are changing people's lives and inspiring others to make a positive impact in their communities.
"We encourage local people, community projects and charitable initiatives to get their applications in so we can support the fantastic work that you do."
People interested in applying have until Thursday, June 12 to submit their applications via the Champions website.
For more information or to submit an application, visit the Champions website at ea-champions.com.
Everyone Active, which operates Blackbrook Leisure Centre & Spa, Wellsprings Leisure Centre, Taunton Swimming Pool, Wellington Sports Centre and Vivary Golf & Adventure Centre, is also set to launch a new Colleague Champions scheme.
This will recognise and reward Everyone Active employees who consistently go above and beyond in their roles.
The company also runs the Sporting Champions scheme, which has helped more than 6,000 athletes by giving them free access to Everyone Active's leisure centres nationwide.
Since 2016, the scheme has provided aspiring athletes with access to top training facilities and mentoring support from Olympians and Paralympians.

‘Madden NFL 26' trailer packed with snowstorm highlights, Travis Hunter as a Jaguar, new game features
EA Sports released its 'Madden NFL 26' trailer Wednesday, fully loaded with NFL staples including an Amon-Ra St. Brown headstand, cover athlete Saquon Barkley's reverse hurdle, snowstorm games and our first glimpse at Travis Hunter scoring a touchdown in a Jacksonville Jaguars jersey. 'Madden NFL 26' is set to be released on Aug. 14. The trailer coins the game's latest installment as 'the realest Madden ever,' highlighted by new features like 'Coach DNA' and 'QB DNA,' both based on years of real NFL data and powered by an AI-based learning machine, per an EA Sports release. Built From Sundays. Available 8.14.25. Pre-Order Today.🔗: — Madden NFL 26 (@EAMaddenNFL) June 4, 2025 Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell discussing a play call with quarterback Jared Goff in the trailer is an example of how the Coach DNA software brings the unique philosophies of NFL coaches, like Campbell's aggressive fourth-down mentality, directly to the game. Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen and Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes are also prominently featured, both finding targets off a scramble that you might see on an NFL Sunday. Similar to Coach DNA, QB DNA brings the signatures of the NFL's quarterbacks to game play. Advertisement Rookies, including Hunter and Las Vegas Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty, are shown on their new NFL teams. Notably, Hunter and Jeanty ranked No. 1 and 2 in EA Sports' College Football 25. And speaking of the college game, which returned after an 11-year hiatus last summer, a new Madden feature called 'Superstar' will allow players to import athletes from EA Sports' 'College Football 26' and watch their evolution from rookie to seasoned pro. The gameday atmospheres are also revamped, as the trailer opens with the Minnesota Vikings' 'SKOL' chant and shows the sloppy conditions in rain and snowstorm games. ''Madden NFL 26' represents a leap forward in delivering the authenticity and control our players crave,' said Daryl Holt, EA Sports senior vice president and group general manager, in the release. 'QB DNA and Coach DNA, combined with explosive movement and physics-based interactions, create the most lifelike NFL experience yet. With deeper modes and true-to-life presentation, Madden NFL 26 delivers an NFL experience that's as close to the real thing as it gets.'

Centric Consulting Offers Seamless Transition as Microsoft Moves to Eliminate Mid-Market Enterprise Agreements
DAYTON, Ohio, June 3, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- As Microsoft evolves its licensing strategy to better serve enterprise and mid-market segments, thousands of organizations with fewer than 2,400 users will transition from Enterprise Agreements (EA) to new licensing models. Centric Consulting, a Microsoft Direct Cloud Solution Provider (CSP), announced today that it is providing specialized services designed to guide businesses through this transition. Microsoft has restructured its licensing agreements, limiting EA renewals, particularly for those with user/device counts between 500 to 2, 400. This segment is known as Level A. These companies are encouraged to evaluate their current user counts and expiration dates and develop a strategy for licensing and support before their agreements expire. When their agreements are up for renewal, they must engage with a Microsoft CSP like Centric or purchase directly from Microsoft to renew their licensing. "We're seeing many leaders of mid-sized companies working to understand how the licensing changes will affect their company. The transition presents an opportunity for them to reassess and optimize, but if they're unprepared, they risk cost increases and service gaps," said Maurice Faison, Microsoft Partnership Director at Centric Consulting. "As a Direct CSP, we're uniquely positioned to offer our clients not just licensing solutions, but comprehensive strategic guidance and managed services that maximize their Microsoft investment." To help companies understand the nuances of Microsoft licensing, Centric developed a Microsoft Licensing Comparison Guide. This self-assessment provides personalized recommendations and conversation starters for choosing the right licensing support model. While Microsoft's recent policy change has created urgency for many organizations, Centric's deep expertise in managing complex licensing requirements has consistently helped clients optimize costs and maintain compliance throughout the evolving technological landscape. "Over the past decade, we've assisted numerous clients with their licensing needs from initial cloud service adoption to optimization and broader technology implementations," added Faison. "Our efforts have consistently resulted in cost savings while ensuring that technology fully supports the business objectives." Unlike standard resellers, Centric offers a comprehensive approach that includes complimentary licensing assessments to identify potential cost-saving opportunities, frictionless EA-to-CSP transition services, and ongoing strategic and IT support from certified Microsoft specialists. The firm's robust Microsoft Consulting Services encompass Microsoft's complete cloud ecosystem—Microsoft 365, Dynamics 365, Azure, Teams, Power Platform, Copilot, and Defender—while also supporting critical on-premises infrastructure, including Windows Server and SQL Server deployments.
