Notification for local body polls to be out next month
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy instructed all the departments to complete the formalities for the distribution of the scheme benefits including new ration cards to ensure no violation of election code which is being into the force soon after the SEC announced schedule for the conduct of local body elections anytime after August 10.
In the wake of protracted delay in conducting the elections, Telangana High Court has already ordered the state government to complete the local body elections by September end this year. Sources said that the only challenge before the government is to implement 42 per cent BC quota in the local body polls since the approval of ordinance to BC reservation was pending before Governor Jishnu Dev Varma. The government was expecting the Governor will also take a call on the issue by August first week and then the election process will be started. The SEC authorities already prepared the revised electoral rolls and the Panchayat Raj department announced the total number of MPTC and ZPTC segments as part of the election preparations. The Municipal Administration and Urban Development department also finalized the number of wards and merger of villages with the surrounding municipal bodies for elections.

Ms Kavitha objected to the reported comments by him, asking about her position, recognition and deviation from the party, and said everyone in the party got recognition due to Mr. KCR. 'Another small leader who joined the party later is also questioning my credibility. Telangana society will not spare such leaders.' Responding to BJP leader CM Ramesh's comments on BRS-BJP merger, she said his comments were taken out of her leaked letter written to Mr KCR. 'I know Mr. Ramesh, but have not met him in the last five years. But his comments surely have connection with my leaked letter.' BC dharna permission yet to come Ms. Kavitha said the government is yet to give permission on her BC dharna but hoped that the High Court would protect her rights. 'Our petition is being allowed during the lunch motion tomorrow (August 4) and I am hopeful that the government gives permission.' The 72-hour hunger strike from Monday (August 4, 2025) demanding 42% reservations for Backward Classes (BCs) will follow the Gandhian path of peaceful resistance without food or water. She said there were approximately 112 BC castes in Telangana, and the idea behind the 72-hour dharna is to give 40 castes every day an opportunity to express their problems. Ms. Kavitha also criticised the BJP for its indecisiveness on the proposed ordinance for BC reservations. 'Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi haven't even raised their voices in Parliament on this matter. If they genuinely care, they should at least seek an appointment with the President,' she said.

CM's push has collectors get cracking to improve governance
HYDERABAD: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy's recent directive to district collectors to conduct regular field visits is gaining momentum, with Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao initiating a structured daily monitoring system to track officials' performance. A streamlined mechanism is now in place to compile comprehensive daily reports outlining proactive steps taken by collectors across the state. During a recent review meeting, the chief minister instructed the chief secretary to submit a daily status report, particularly in light of key issues requiring enhanced supervision, including regulation of fertiliser supply, disease prevention, weather alerts, and ration card distribution. District collectors have since been submitting detailed reports in a standardised format, covering aspects such as inspections of healthcare centres and government hospitals, the number of ration card distribution camps held, and the status of cards issued or pending. Reports also include findings from inspections, deficiencies noted, and actions taken. Revanth Reddy has repeatedly stressed the importance of on-ground inspections to ensure transparency, efficiency, and accountability in governance. Collectors have been asked to conduct surprise visits to schools, colleges, hospitals, and government offices to monitor staff performance and service delivery. To support key welfare initiatives like ration card distribution, midday meals in schools, and construction of Indiramma houses, the CM has directed officials to dedicate the first half of three working days each week to field visits. This directive has begun yielding visible results. Progress is being observed in midday meal implementation, timely distribution of ration cards, and the ongoing construction of Indiramma houses. Collectors have also been instructed to disseminate daily IMD weather forecasts and regularly review rainfall and flood preparedness. As a result of heightened alertness, no major incidents have been reported in the past six months, with emergency response teams and helplines remaining active during heavy rains and other emergencies.

Give no share of 42% BC quota to Muslims: BJP chief N Ramchander Rao
HYDERABAD: State BJP president N Ramchander Rao has demanded that the Congress government allocate the proposed 42% reservations exclusively to Backward Class (BC) communities, excluding any share for other groups. The BJP's OBC Morcha staged a maha dharna at Indira Park on Saturday, urging the implementation of the Congress' Kamareddy Declaration. Along with Ramchander Rao, Union minister G Kishan Reddy, several MPs, MLAs, MLCs, and other senior party leaders participated in the dharna. Addressing the gathering, Ramchander Rao warned the state government against including Muslims in the 10% quota under the overall 42% reservation proposed for BCs. 'BJP will strongly oppose religion-based reservations,' he said. Accusing Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of politicising the issue by staging protests at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, he alleged that the Congress was attempting to shift blame onto the Centre to hide its own failure in implementing the promise. He asserted that the BJP has always been committed to the welfare of BCs, citing the appointment of Narendra Modi -- a BC leader -- as the Prime Minister. 'There are 27 ministers from BC communities in the Union Cabinet and five BC chief ministers in BJP-ruled states,' he noted. He also pointed out that the Congress never appointed a BC leader as chief minister in either undivided Andhra Pradesh or Telangana. He demanded that Revanth Reddy disclose how much the Congress government has spent on BC welfare since assuming office, and appealed to BC communities to support the BJP for securing their rights. Addressing on the occasion, Union minister G Kishan Reddy accused the Congress of reneging on its promise to implement 42% reservations for BCs within 100 days of coming to power. 'It has been nearly two years, and the promise remains unfulfilled,' he said. Rejecting the proposed 10% quota for Muslims within the BC reservation pool, Kishan Reddy argued that the minority community is already covered under the Economically Backward Classes (EBC) quota. He also expressed concerns about the state's caste survey, questioning how the population of SCs and STs increased while the number of BCs declined.
