Nissan currently sells the Magnite and the X-Trail in India.
Putting to rest all rumours surrounding the future of Nissan Motor India, the carmaker's Managing Director Saurabh Vatsa today said that the Magnite-maker is not leaving the country as it plans to introduce three new models over the next two years.
Nissan, which currently sells only the Magnite and the X-Trail in India, will launch a new sub-4 metre MPV in the first quarter of 2026. In mid-2026, the carmaker will introduce a mid-size SUV, which will rival the Hyundai Creta and the Kia Seltos, among others. A third car, which will be a 7-seater SUV, will enter the market in early 2027.
According to Nissan, the MPV will be based on the same platform as the Renault Triber, while the mid-size SUV will take inspiration from the popular Nissan Patrol in terms of design. New Nissan cars for India
During a select media briefing, Vatsa said: "Nissan has had a very long stint in India, and we are not going anywhere."
The new models are not just quick additions but competitive vehicles offering value-for-money, he said, adding that they will be aggressive in style and have advanced features.
While the X-Trail is available in India as a completely built-up (CBU) model, the Magnite is manufactured at the company's Alliance plant in Oragadam, Chennai. Although Renault is set to acquire Nissan's complete stake (51%) in the Alliance facility, it will continue to produce Nissan cars, including the three upcoming models.
For reference, the Alliance plant has an annual installed production capacity of 4,80,000 units.
Even though the X-Trail has struggled to attract buyers, Vatsa stated that other CBU models are currently being actively evaluated for the Indian market. Nissan's dealership expansion plan
While Nissan currently has 160 dealerships across the country, Vatsa said that the carmaker is expecting to add 20 more dealerships to its network this year.
"There's a special program that we have rolled out for our partners to get ready for the next year as the new cars start coming in," he added. Nissan's volume target
Nissan's domestic sales dropped 7.51% to 27,881 units in FY25 from 30,146 units in FY24. However, the exports jumped 65.93% to 71,334 units in FY25 from 42,989 units in FY24.
With new models arriving, the carmaker is targeting volumes of 1,00,000 units for the domestic market and another 1,00,000 units for exports by FY27.
"We are on track to go to 1,00,000 units domestic and 100,000 units export in FY27," Vatsa said. Nissan Magnite CNG
Expanding the Magnite portfolio, Nissan introduced a retrofit CNG kit option for the SUV earlier in the day. It is priced at Rs 74,999.
Developed by Motozen, the retrofit CNG kit for the Magnite comes with a 3-year or 1,00,000 kilometre warranty. The installation will be carried out exclusively at government-authorised fitment centres.
At present, the retrofit CNG kit option is available in seven states: Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Kerala, Karnataka and Delhi-NCR.

New Delhi: Hyundai Creta dominates the mid-size SUV segment, which includes models like the Maruti Grand Vitara, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, Skoda Kushaq, MG Astor, Volkswagen Taigun, and others. Among them, the MG Astor is the only SUV in this segment to offer both a large 10-inch infotainment display and a panoramic sunroof under Rs 12.5 lakh (ex-showroom), the JSW MG Motor India claims. In an official press release, JSW MG Motor India stated, "The MY2025 Astor 'Blockbuster SUV' is India's only 1.5-litre mid-size SUV to offer a large 10-inch infotainment display and a panoramic sunroof under Rs 12.5 lakh (ex-showroom)." It also added, "The MG Astor is also the only vehicle in the 1.5L Mid-SUV Automatic segment to offer a wireless charging feature under Rs 15 lakh, with its 'Sharp Pro' trim." While the Astor features a 10-inch infotainment display as standard across the lineup, the panoramic sunroof is available from the 'Shine' trim, priced at Rs 12,47,800 (ex-showroom). The full Astor range is priced between Rs 11,29,800 and Rs 17,55,800 (ex-showroom). Though it is among the most feature-rich SUVs in the segment, the Astor has struggled to gain traction and has failed to generate good sales volume so far. Nissan Magnite CNG: Here are 5 things to know about the SUV before you decide to buy

Nissan has debuted the CNG version of its well-liked Magnite compact SUV, with prices beginning at ₹6.89 lakh (ex-showroom). In contrast to many competitors that provide factory-installed CNG kits, the Magnite CNG features a dealer-level retrofit, meaning the CNG kit is added at authorised centres post-manufacturing. This method grants customers a more adaptable and budget-friendly option to shift to cleaner fuel, appealing to environmentally conscious buyers. In the Indian market, the Magnite CNG competes with models like the Maruti Suzuki Fronx CNG, Tata Punch iCNG, and Hyundai Exter CNG. While these rivals come with factory-ready kits, the Magnite distinguishes itself by utilising a dealership-based installation approach that reduces the cost. Here's five things to know before you decide on buying the Nissan Magnite CNG. ₹ 6.14 - 11.76 Lakhs Offers Expiring soon ₹ 6.15 - 9.02 Lakhs Offers Expiring soon ₹ 7.54 - 13.06 Lakhs Offers Expiring soon ₹ 7.74 - 13.04 Lakhs Offers Expiring soon ₹ 7.3 - 10.17 Lakhs Offers Expiring soon ₹ 6.21 - 10.51 Lakhs Offers Expiring soon The CNG kit installed in the Magnite is crafted, produced, and quality-tested by Motozen, an external vendor. It features a 12 kg single-cylinder system and is fitted at government-approved service centres. Motozen offers warranty coverage for the components of the CNG kit, and Nissan maintains its standard three-year or 1 lakh km warranty on the vehicle, even post-retrofitment. Nissan is rolling out the Magnite CNG gradually. Initially, it will launch in seven states—Delhi-NCR, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Kerala, and Karnataka. The company intends to broaden availability to additional states in the subsequent phase. (Also read: Nissan India remains steadfast on commitments despite shift in global strategy) The retrofit kit is priced at ₹75,000 and is compatible with any variant of the 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol Magnite. With the base petrol model starting at ₹6.14 lakh, the CNG version is available from ₹6.89 lakh (both ex-showroom). This positions it among the most economical CNG-equipped SUVs in India, particularly compared to those with factory-installed kits. Nissan has not yet unveiled official performance metrics for the CNG variant. Nonetheless, it is anticipated to have marginally lower power output than the petrol version, similar to other CNG vehicles. The CNG Magnite is projected to achieve 24 km/kg in urban settings and up to 30 km/kg on highways, making it a cost-effective choice for daily commuting. Nissan India plans four new models including C-SUV, Triber-based MPV and mass-market EV

Nissan Motor India is commited to its previously announced plans for India and will be launching four new cars including a B-segment MPV based on the Renault Triber platform. Check Offers Nissan India recently reaffirmed its commitment to previously announced plans for the Indian market. Speaking at a recent press conference, Saurabh Vatsa, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India, emphasised that India remains a key market for the company and that its previously disclosed product strategy remains on track. Nissan India had earlier announced that it will be launching a new seven-seater B-segment MPV as part of its future lineup in the country. This takes the upcoming product pipeline to a total of four new models, including a five-seater and a seven-seater C-SUV alongside a mass-market EV. Nissan has stated that the B-MPV, as well as the five-seater C-SUV, are currently in the pre-production phase, and both will be launched in 2026. With development underway, let us take a look at what's expected from Nissan in the coming years: Renault Triber-based seven-seater B-MPV: The first of the upcoming cars from Nissan will be a seven-seater B-MPV based on the Renault Triber while carrying a unique design. Nissan will kick things off with the upcoming B-segment MPV, expected to launch in early 2026. This three-row seven-seater will be based on the CMF-A+ platform that currently underpins the Renault Triber. However, it is being positioned as a standalone model rather than a simple rebadged iteration, and Nissan has stated it will bring a distinct design and interior. This MPV is expected to carry over the same 1.0-litre three-cylinder that powers the Triber with 71 bhp and 96 Nm of torque, mated to either a five-speed manual or automatic. Renault Duster-based five-seater C-SUV: Nissan is also developing a five-seater mid-size SUV for India. Based on the CMF-B platform, it shares its underpinnings with the Renault Duster with a distinctive exterior and interior design. The second model from Nissan to hit the streets will be a five-seater C-segment SUV, expected to launch later in 2026. This SUV will be based on the CMF-B platform that underpins the Renault Duster. The automaker says the model will borrow design cues from the globally available Nissan Patrol and will offer a high approach and departure angle. The upcoming mid-size SUV will take on the likes of the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. It will be manufactured locally at Nissan's Chennai plant and is expected to carry over the 1.2-litre three-cylinder mild-hybrid that drives the Duster. Dacia Bigster-based seven-seater C-SUV: Nissan will follow up the MPV and the C-SUV with the launch of a seven-seater SUV, expected to launch by 2027. This model will be based on a longer wheelbase version of the CMF-B platform that underpins the Dacia Bigster, a stretched-out iteration of the Duster. However, Nissan has confirmed that the model will feature a distinctive exterior and interior design and will not be just a stretched-out version. It is expected to be positioned against premium seven-seater SUVs such as the Hyundai Alcazar and the MG Hector Plus. Now, Renault has been working on a mass-market Kwid EV for some time, and it is expected to be rebadged for the Japanese automaker. The Kwid EV is itself based on the Dacia Spring EV, which is powered by a 26.8 kWh battery, promising a single-charge range of up to 225 km. It comes with features such as a 10.1-inch infotainment display, a 7-inch digital cluster, ADAS, and more. While Nissan is expected to launch its EV by 2027, an official timeline is not available at present. Check out Upcoming Cars in India 2024, Best SUVs in India.
