Narivetta OTT release date OUT: Actor Tovino Thomas-starrer gripping cop-drama Narivetta will soon be streaming online. The makers have finally locked the OTT release date. Directed by Anuraj Manohar and written by Abin Joseph, the film is based on the 2003 Muthanga Case.
Narivetta will be released on OTT on 11 July 2025.
The film will be streaming on SonyLiv.
On Thursday, the official Instagram handle of the OTT platform posted a video from the film. Announcing the OTT release, their post read, 'Faces of phases! Watch #Narivetta from July 11 only on Sony LIV @tovinothomas @surajvenjaramoodu @cherandirector @anurajmanohar @aryasalimofficial @jakes_bejoy #SonyLIVSouth.'
The film also stars Suraj Venjaramoodu, Arya Salim, Priyamvada Krishnan and Rini Udayakumar in key roles. It also marks Cheran's Malayalam film debut.
Narivetta focuses on the story of 28-year-old Varghese (played by Tovino Thomas), a man struggling to find his place in the world. Deeply in love with Nancy (played by Priyamvada Krishnan), Varghese turns down every job opportunity, convinced none of them match his idea of a 'respectable' profession. Tired of his indecisiveness and lack of direction, Nancy ends their relationship, urging him to grow up and take responsibility. Left with no choice, Varghese joins the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) as a constable.
What follows is a journey of transformation in his life. While his superiors mock and belittle him, Varghese finds an unexpected ally in Officer Bashir Ahmed (played by Suraj Venjaramoodu), who is a kind-hearted senior who becomes both his mentor and friend. Under Bashir's guidance, Varghese slowly begins to mature. However, the story takes a dramatic turn, intersecting with a tense operation rooted in the 2003 Muthanga tribal protest, challenging Varghese's beliefs, morality, and identity once again.
Narivetta is backed by Tippushan and Shiyas Hassan under the banner of Indian Cinema Company. The film music is composed by Jakes Bejoy.
The film was released in theatres on 23 May and became a commercial success, thanks to strong word-of-mouth and positive reviews from the audience.
It had a theatrical run for 40 days before debuting on OTT. Wondering what else can you watch on the OTT this week? Check out our list of Malayalam films which will be out on digital platforms.

On Friday, Hrithik shared a small video from the time he was training for the film, where he was seen taking a few moments in between what seemed to be a swimming lesson. The video was shared by his physical training team, which saw the actor bare-chested, flaunting his ripped physique. He flaunted a ripped physique in the video, flexing his muscles as he turned around and went for another dip. Purpose Studios shared the video with the caption, "During the training period of War 2, we captured this quiet, unfiltered moment with Hrithik Sir @hrithikroshan. No lights, no retakes—just him and his discipline. Over the years, every time we've had the chance to work with him, we've walked away having learnt something. Not just about the craft—but about commitment, humility, and showing up with intention, day after day. This journey has filled us with gratitude. And Purpose—the kind that anchors you. We wouldn't have it any other way." Hrithik reposed the video with the caption, 'You guys are the best. Thank you for journeying with me 🤗👊.' Earlier this year in January, a workout motivation video of Hrithik was shared by his brand HRX on Instagram. In the clip, Hrithik said, 'Just once, reach that point where you have gotten yourself to a point where you feel like you have a body that you are proud of. Just once, just know it, keep it. Then do whatever you want. Without knowing that you will never know what you want, and what you don't want. Just one reason – one life, one body, this is all that you own. Do the best you can for it, once. Get there, get your best body once, and then never have that body again in your life. That is fine. But know that address once. Know how to get there.' About War 2 Hrithik is reprising his role as super spy Kabir in War 2, a sequel to the 2019 hit War. The first part starred Hrithik along with Tiger Shroff and Vaani Kapoor. War 2, which pits Hrithik against Telugu superstar Jr NTR, is part of YRF's expansive Spy Universe. War 2 is slated to release on August 14 in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil.

Vivek Agnihotri Says ‘Star-Kid Obsession' Is Hurting Bollywood: ‘A Common Man Can't Make Entry'

Last Updated: Vivek Agnihotri blames Bollywood's decline on star-kid obsession, lack of new talent, and undervaluing writers. Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri has delivered yet another blunt critique of the Hindi film industry, this time targeting its lack of inclusivity, over-reliance on star kids, and disregard for writers. Speaking with Siddharth Kannan, the director said Bollywood's closed-door culture is stifling new talent and weakening its creative core. 'It is because there has been no new talent entering the film industry. A common man cannot make an entry," Vivek said. Using the example of Shah Rukh Khan, he argued that if the superstar were to debut today without English fluency or an elite background, he might never get through the doors of a studio. He criticised the current selection process that prioritises Instagram followers over acting ability, questioning how aspiring actors from smaller cities like Kanpur, Jhansi, or Visakhapatnam could ever break in. 'So what happens is, they take kids from film families. Also, star kids want to become influencers, and influencers want to become stars," he added. 'Writers Ki Koi Aukaat Nahi Hai' Vivek also took aim at the sidelining of writers in Bollywood, which he believes is damaging the quality of Hindi cinema. 'Writers ki koi aukaat nahi hai. Stars aur studios ne unki aukaat cheen li hai. They've made a nexus. Studios want numbers, and for that, they want stars… The writer gets ₹10, while the star gets ₹10,000," he said. He pointed out that the overexposure of star kids on social media — from their outfits to their workouts — strips away the audience's ability to imagine them as different characters. This, combined with poor writing, results in films lacking depth and authenticity. Vivek's Upcoming Film: The Bengal Files Despite his criticism of the industry, Vivek Agnihotri continues to make politically charged films that aim to provoke discussion. His next project, The Bengal Files, follows the controversial success of The Kashmir Files. The upcoming film will explore West Bengal's history of political violence and ideological conflict, with a star-studded cast featuring Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Pallavi Joshi, and Darshan Kumar.
