‘JD Vance's Netflix Password Is Password': UK Locals Roast US VP During Family Holiday
As Vance toured Charlbury, residents used satire and social media-inspired jokes to poke fun at the US vice president.
JD Vance, US Vice President, received an unusual welcome this week as he, his family, and a large security detail passed through the village of Charlbury in England's Cotswolds and just not the kind he might have hoped for, according to a report by US broadcaster NBC News.
Bathed in sunshine, dozens of demonstrators drank tea, ate cake featuring a meme of Vance's face and held up humorous placards earlier this Tuesday in the small community.
'JD Vance Netflix password is 'password,'" read one handmade sign near the location where the Vances are vacationing about 100 miles west of London.
Another declared that Vance 'claps when the plane lands," referencing a habit mocked by some Britons as overenthusiastic.
Others held placards quoting Vance when he said he 'never liked" US President Donald Trump.
The Cotswolds, with its rolling hills rising from meadows along the upper River Thames, has long been popular with holidaymakers.
In recent years, it has also drawn a wealthier crowd. Chipping Norton and surrounding towns are home to the 'Chipping Norton set," including former UK Prime Minister David Cameron and his wife Samantha Cameron, media executive Elizabeth Murdoch and US talk show host Ellen DeGeneres.
Nearby, former 'Top Gear" presenter Jeremy Clarkson's 'Diddly Squat Farm" in Chadlington falls under a no-fly zone covering the Cotswolds.
Referencing this on Instagram, Clarkson wrote: 'The JD Vance no fly zone. We are the pin. So on the downside, no drone shots today. On the upside, no annoying light aircraft." He later shared a video showing the peaceful countryside.

'On a question about politics, he [Munir] said that political reconciliation is possible only if there is a sincere apology," the report read. Although it was not clear who Munir was referring to, it can be inferred that he may have been referring to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and its incarcerated leader, Imran Khan. On foreign relations, Munir was said to have expressed confidence in maintaining equilibrium between the US and China. 'We will not sacrifice one friend for the other," Munir was quoted as saying. The army chief also described President Donald Trump's efforts for peace as 'genuine", and said Pakistan had taken the lead in nominating him for the Nobel Peace Prize, which was then followed by other nations.
