The Chase star Mark Labbett's ex Hayley Palmer gives her verdict on his Celebs Go Dating debut following their 'traumatic' relationship and him 'refusing to divorce' his second cousin
The TV personality, 44, and The Chase star, 59, announced their break up in May 2024, days after their one-year anniversary, with Hayley claiming that he dumped her because he 'didn't want to divorce' his ex-wife Katie, who is also his second cousin.
Mark is now back looking for love and will appear on the E4 show alongside the likes of Kerry Katona, 44, and Christine McGuinness, 37.
Hayley told Daily Mail: 'A year later, I've been able to turn past trauma into something positive. I feel like i've done a lot of glowing up. I am in a really strong, happy place. Feeling very grounded'.
Despite wishing Mark well and pointing out his 'wonderful qualities' Hayley said she had no intention of watching his hunt for Mrs Right, revealing she had moved on and was dating someone she 'saw having a future with '.
Instead she said she was planning on using her past relationship experiences to help others: 'I'm currently in the process of writing a book and coaching others who have been through tough experiences and want to change their mindset'.
Following their split Hayley claimed that she'd been left needing counselling for 'betrayal trauma' after being dumped in a three-minute phone call.
She previously told Daily Mail that she 'never in a million years' imagined Mark, AKA the Best, would agree to appear on a dating show.
But the presenter also said she was glad to see her ex following her example and starting a new life chapter, after she'd he time post break up 'pouring love and confidence' into herself.
Hayley said: 'I never thought in a million years he'd go on a dating show after such a painful and public breakup'.
She previously claimed Mark ended their romance because he didn't want to divorce ex, Katie, 32, with whom he shares seven-year-old son Lawrence.
However despite her claims Mark told The Sun: 'She's [Hayley's] a lovely lady and I was very lucky to date her for a year, and as I said...it's me, I got old.'
In 2020, Katie - who had been dating senior design engineer Scott Bate for 18 months at the time - and Mark split because their attempts at an open marriage failed.
The Beast also blamed other factors, including their 27-year age gap, the Covid-19 lockdown and his own mental health, for their eventual split.
Last year Hayley confessed to Daily Mail that she was forced to turn the TV channel over after seeing him on Loose Women as she admitted she found it 'triggering'.
She said Mark 'lives up to his nickname' after 'blindsiding' her by brutally breaking-up with her over the phone.
'It was really upsetting seeing him pop up on my screen, and I had to turn over. I didn't expect it to feel like that.
'As the last time he was on there, I was sat beside him and we were speaking about celebrating our one year anniversary and then exactly one week later my world came crashing down.'
She added: 'To be honest thinking about him with anyone just brings it all back.'
Hayley explained she was taken aback by her feeling as she continued: 'It was triggering. I didn't think it would be as I have worked really hard on my mindset and have been in a good place.'
Meanwhile The Best has has revealed he 'couldn't wait to leave' a recent date he went on because he didn't find the mystery woman 'attractive'.
Speaking to BANG Showbiz at Celebs Go Dating launch party about his current dating life, Mark said: 'You never know who you're going to find, someone who you just get on with – that's the key thing.
'I won't say who, but there's been one situation I've met someone and I'm going, "I should find them really attractive", but instead I can't wait to get away.
Asked if the woman was a celebrity, Mark responded: 'No comment.'
Mark hopes to find his perfect match, with the help of the programme's dating agents, Paul Carrick Brunson, Anna Williamson and Dr. Tara Suwinyattichaiporn.
Ironically, Mark said the experience of doing the show has taught him not to seek 'perfection'.
He said: 'If you expect that from your partner, if she goes, "You don't do that", you can't get all stroppy.
'You can argue on the point of modern dating issues that you see someone who's this, this and this, and you go, reality check.'

Maura Higgins shows off dramatic living room makeover after moving into her 'dream' £1.25m Essex mansion
has given fans a sneak peek inside her plush £1.25million Essex mansion - unveiling a dramatic living room transformation. The Love Island favourite, 34, shared a before-and-after look with her 3.7million Instagram followers on Monday on her new home Instagram account. Maura showed how the once sparse space, pictured with just two slouchy white beanbags and a boxed-up TV, has been completely transformed into a snug lounge. Gone were the empty walls and floors and in their place, a plush white and cream sofa, a matching ottoman, soft rugs, candles and warm lighting. The Irish beauty, who first shot to fame in 2019, has finally fulfilled her dream of upgrading from her modest one-bed flat to a five-bedroom home. The upgrade comes after Maura's meteoric rise to fame, from her breakout stint on Love Island to presenting Love Island USA, starring in I'm A Celebrity, and bagging her latest role in The Traitors US. Speaking about her ambitions, Maura previously said she always knew she wasn't destined to stay in rural County Longford, marry her teenage boyfriend and open a hair salon. 'That wasn't my dream, I wanted more,' she once declared. Earlier this year, she splashed her hard-earned £3.2million fortune on the luxury pad, which boasts an en-suite master bedroom, four further bedrooms, an expansive kitchen with an island, and black French doors leading to a landscaped garden. Overjoyed, Maura shared to her Instagram followers a picture of her new kitchen with a chandelier and grey floors, which she bought in October, with the caption 'Bought my dream house'. Maura's previous home was raided by three-masked men and so the Love Island star has ensured her new home was in a gated development which provides privacy and security. After first sharing the news of her new home in October, Maura had barely gotten the keys to her new house when she entered the jungle in November for a four-week stint in Australia. Maura entered the Love Island villa in 2019 and after almost six years in the spotlight with lucrative brand deals, she has amassed a fortune of an estimated £3.2million. Maura recently shared how she escaped working in a hair salon in Ireland to become a ring girl for the brand Monster against the wishes of her then-boyfriend and dad. The influencer said: 'I wanted to do more and travel the world. I'm young, why not?' Her time with Monster caught the eye of ITV recruiters for Love Island, who approached Maura multiple times before she finally accepted as revenge against her boyfriend, which has now landed her a multi-million-pound fortune. Maura previously shared with her Instagram followers a picture of her new kitchen with a chandelier and grey floors, with the caption 'Bought my dream home' Her big home purchase came after she treated herself to a new £60,000 Porsche just before heading into the I'm A Celebrity jungle in November. Maura became the proud owner of a Porsche Macan, which typically ranges in price from £60,000 to £98,00. Sharing a photo from inside her new car, she showed off its luxurious all-white leather interior. Maura captioned the post: 'My baby has arrived finally,' along with a white heart emoji. It comes after Maura displayed her toned physique in a summer minidress on the weekend as she shared a glimpse of her lavish lifestyle in an Instagram post. The former Love Island star, 34, stunned as she enjoyed a picnic in the sun while wearing an ivory and pink milkmaids dress. In a second image she looked happier than ever after pulling on a pair of thigh-skimming shorts and fedora hat for a bike ride. Another snap captures Maura enjoying a mint ice cream, while wearing a ruffled dress in a similar colour. She also shared a glimpse of herself in more casual attire, including a bright pink T-shirt dress branded with the Love Island logo. The brunette later posed for a fun snap with her pals as they made funny faces for a photo collage.

"I thought Jon would come in a lot more guarded but he's not," Tara said. "He's ready to bare it all emotionally and it's a beautiful thing. I've been learning a lot about him already, and I have to say it's a very touching story." Elsewhere in the debut episode of the series, fans saw Olivia get close to Too Hot To Handle star Russell. Will we see sparks fly in Ibiza?
