Search for motoring influencer: Family feared joke turned tragedy in Muar river
Motoring influencer Tengku Nizaruddin Tengku Zainudin, 38, better known as Ija Nizaruddin, was reported missing after the Perodua Axia he was driving was found submerged in the river this evening, with no trace of him inside.
His younger brother, Tengku Abdul Aziz, 30, said they last met around 2 pm yesterday after travelling separately from Johor Bahru to Muar.
'We left Johor Bahru in separate vehicles for business purposes. I went to a different place, while my brother told me he wanted to go to his friend's workshop in Parit Jawa.
'My family last heard from him at around 4 pm, but after that, they couldn't reach him,' he said when contacted by Bernama today.
He said both he and his sister-in-law reached out to the workshop owner but were told that his brother never showed up.
'At first, we thought he was joking as usual, but started to get worried when we couldn't reach him and the vehicle was found not far from where we last met,' he said.
Earlier, Pagoh Fire and Rescue Station operations commander Senior Fire Officer I Nor Alfatah Omar said they received an emergency call about the incident at 3.22 pm.
He said the team arrived at the scene at about 3.51 pm and discovered that a Perodua Axia had plunged into a river about two metres deep.
Meanwhile, Muar district police chief ACP Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz said search efforts were still ongoing.
He urged witnesses to contact the Muar District Police Headquarters (IPD) to assist in the investigation. — Bernama

Missing woman found drowned after car discovered on bridge
KUALA NERANG: A woman who was reported missing near the Tekih Highway Bridge, Kampung Pinang, Pedu, since yesterday was found drowned at Jeram Tok Din, about one kilometre away. Kuala Nerang Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) Chief, Assistant Fire Superintendent Mohd Aminuddin Mad Khozali, said the victim was found by members of the public who were camping in the area. Firefighters, with six personnel, proceeded to the scene and retrieved the victim at about 10pm. Yesterday, the woman was reported missing, and a Perodua Axia car, believed to be hers, was found on the bridge. Following the report, a search and rescue (SAR) operation was carried out by the fire department and police at the scene from 5.30pm.

RM8.6m copper factory busted in Perak for operating illegally, man in 40s arrested
IPOH, Aug 2 — The General Operations Force (GOF) seized various types of copper materials, several machines, and other equipment valued at RM8,586,000 in an enforcement operation at an unlicensed factory in Simpang Pulai yesterday morning. Northern Brigade (Ulu Kinta) GOF Commander, SAC Shahrum Hashim, said a local man was also arrested during the operation, which was named Op Hazard. 'The GOF, assisted by the Perak Inland Revenue Board, the Batu Gajah Municipal Council, and the Perak Department of Environment (DOE), arrested a local male who is in his 40s, along with the seized items at a factory that processes copper dust and raw materials into copper scrap, which is suspected to be for export,' he said in a statement. He added that intelligence gathered over the past month found that the activity had been ongoing for about a year, and inspections revealed that the factory was operating without any approval from the DOE. He said the case is being investigated under Section 34A and Section 34B of the Environmental Quality Act 1974, and the Perak DOE also took action by issuing a stop-work order under Section 38(1)(a) of Act 127. 'The case is also being investigated under Section 113(2) of the Income Tax Act 1967, which pertains to making incorrect declarations to eliminate or reduce income for oneself or others. Or providing any false information regarding any matter that affects one's own or another's tax liability,' he said.
