Rian O'Neill returns as Armagh survive late Derry blitz in nervy All-Ireland opener
But Orchard captain for the night Rory Grugan insisted that the victory was all that mattered — as his side stumbled over the line to take two points in the group of death from a game they should have cruised home in.

Armagh's defence kicked off with a nervous win against a tough Derry outfit
Second-half goals from Barry McCambridge and Conor Turbitt saw Kieran McGeeney's men take a commanding 13-point lead with just over ten minutes left.
But Derry rallied, scoring two late goals from Conor Glass and Tommy Rogers to make the hosts sweat at the Athletic Grounds.
Armagh hung on to banish the memories of another drama-filled Ulster final defeat to Donegal.
Grugan said: 'The first few days are tough, getting the corner turned in terms of mentally and that, but we managed to do that and we put in a good ten days of training.

'We treated this like a final, basically, because if you lose this first game, you're scrambling away to Dublin, neutral to Galway, you don't know where it'll take you and suddenly you're fighting for your life.
'We want to push on now, see where this week takes us and I look forward to Croke Park.'
Grugan admitted he was glad to hear the final whistle.
He added: 'I went off just after we'd conceded the first goal and it went back to a ten-point deficit, and you're hoping that's still enough of a buffer.

'But in the modern game we've seen those disappear really quickly. There was a significant wind there, Derry took advantage of it.
Antrim GAA captain Dermot McAleese insists Ulster SFC clash against Armagh will be at Corrigan Park
'You could tell they were really going for goal and they never stopped fighting. They came at us hard, kicked a couple of two-pointers and it was more nervy than it needed to be there.
'It would have been a travesty if we threw it away.'
Armagh came flying out of the blocks in the second half having only led by three points at the break despite dominating the opening period.
The return of talisman O'Neill for his first game of the year came in the No 6 jersey after he had initially not been named in the matchday squad.
That all changed on the day and he was among the scorers as his side led 0-9 to 0-2 after 19 minutes. Grugan, Andrew Murnin, Oisín Conaty with a two-pointer, Ross McQuillan and Turbitt all contributed.
But Derry hit back with Conor Glass, Paul Cassidy, Ruairí Forbes and Shane McGuigan on target to cut Armagh's half-time lead to 0-12 to 0-9.
Murnin, Jarly Óg Burns, Jason Duffy and McQuillan all helped extend the Orchard lead again before McCambridge steered Murnin's optimistic delivery into the net and then Turbitt displayed class to slip his shot past keeper Ben McKinless.
However, Derry chipped away with a big two-pointer from McGuigan and then with ten minutes to play, Glass' low effort gave Armagh keeper Ethan Rafferty no chance.
And Paddy Tally's men really started to believe when substitute Rogers rattled in another goal.
Indeed, they came close to turning it around with Rafferty required to make saves from Rogers and his namesake Brendan.
But Joe McElroy stemmed the tide with a vital insurance point as Armagh hung on and they now head to Croke Park to face Dublin next weekend with both sides having won their group openers.
Derry will welcome Galway to Celtic Park as both teams look to get off the mark.
Ahead of facing the Dubs, Grugan warned: 'The amount of goal chances Derry created and scored would be concerning.'

Bohemians football club faces breach of contract lawsuit
Leading League of Ireland football club Bohemians faces legal action from a company seeking to recover around €100,000 for alleged breach of contract. Digital ticket services specialist, Future Ticketing Ltd, filed proceedings in the High Court this week against The Bohemian Football Club Company. It is understood that the Tullamore, Co Offaly-based business is seeking to recover around €100,000 that it alleges resulted from a breach of contract by Bohemians. Future Ticketing says it provided services to Bohemians from 2016 through contracts that the two companies renewed several times, including in 2023, when the relationship ended. READ MORE The figure sought by the ticketing company includes fees for its services and a penalty for Bohemians ending the contract, it is understood. Future Ticketing provides technology to sports organisations and other event businesses that allow them to sell tickets directly to customers through their websites and mobile apps rather than going through an agent. The company works with more than 50 professional football clubs, including other well-known SSE Airtricity League of Ireland sides St Patrick's Athletic, Shelbourne FC and Drogheda United. It recently renewed a deal with Northern Ireland Football League club Glentoran FC. The Irish company also numbers Scottish and English clubs among its clients. Future Ticketing also works with racecourses in Ireland and Britain, including leading national hunt tracks, Punchestown and Cheltenham. Dalymount Park, Dublin-based Bohemians is one of the State's best known football clubs. In advance of its Friday fixture against Drogheda United, it was ranked second in the SSE Airtricity League of Ireland Premier Division, with 42 points, seven behind league leaders Shamrock Rovers. In an unrelated case, the Workplace Relations Commission recently awarded former Bohemians player and coach David Henderson the maximum compensation of €26,000 against the club. The commission found that Bohemians had unfairly dismissed him from his €250 a week job as head of recruitment in November 2024. The club maintained that it had to cut spending as it had lost money in 2023 and was likely to do so again last year. Accounts filed by The Bohemian Football Club, which is a company limited by guarantee, show that it had €2.2 million in assets at the end of 2023. The accounts note that it had 'an operating deficit of €245,000″ that year and projected a loss for 2024. It employs around 40 people. Bohemians is not yet due to file accounts for last year. Neither Future Ticketing nor Bohemians had commented by the time of going to press.

For more go to Meath v Dublin, Croke Park, 4.15pm Orlagh Nolan is named to start in the Dublin team. Nolan's 2024 season was cruelly cut short by an ACL injury sustained before the quarter-final clash with Galway but she returned against the same opposition in the recent semi-final – and performed well in a substitute's role as the Sky Blues won a dramatic game after extra-time. She comes in for Caoimhe O'Connor, who sustained a hamstring injury against Galway last time out. That's the only change in personnel from the semi-final, with Meath opting for an unchanged starting line-up. However, there may be a change in personnel for the Royal County, as key defender Katie Newe was forced off with a knee injury during the semi-final win against Kerry. Dublin won the most recent competitive clash between them, in the 2025 TG4 Leinster final. Meath's last victory against their old rivals was in a National League Division 1 group game – while the Royals last achieved a championship win against Dublin in 2022, in Leinster. The counties have not met in the All-Ireland series since the dramatic 2021 All-Ireland final. Dublin are readying themselves for the 14th Senior final in the county's history – and a win for the Sky Blues would hand them a seventh All-Ireland crown. Bradley dismisses ‘outside talk' ahead of return to Premier Division action
Stephen Bradley has described as 'irrelevant' recent developments in the Premier Division title race. While his table-toppers have been idle in terms of League of Ireland action over the past four weeks, playing in the FAI Cup and the Europa Conference League, rivals have been busy playing their games in hand. One of those saw second placed Bohemians take on third placed Derry City - and the draw between the two sides was the best result possible for the Hoops. With everyone now on 25 games each, Rovers have a seven-point advantage at the top of the table. Not that Bradley is bothering himself with such details. 'Look, our mindset hasn't changed,' he said, ahead of the visit of Derry on Sunday. 'And I know there was a lot of talk outside, I get that, in terms of they had to play games in hand. 'We know if we do our stuff, everything else is irrelevant. And we know that throughout the years. If you're curious, you can read our Privacy Notice . 'We genuinely don't get caught up in anything other than Derry are here on Sunday, let's win the game. And that's the aim. Wherever that takes us, we still have to go up there. 'There's still 11 games left. So there's still games to be played and still points to be won and lost. 'I always say, judge us come November, last year was December, let's see where we end up, and then you judge the team at the end of the season. 'But we just focus on Derry, our aim is to win the game. And let's see where that takes us.' Bradley reckons the Candystripes will be tricky opponents, with Tiernan Lynch's side on the rise after a shaky start to the season. 'Up until Sligo (a 2-0 defeat last month) they've been very good in terms of picking up points,' said the Hoops boss. 'They've obviously invested really heavily in their squad, which is clear to see. 'And it's what we want in the league, we want that in the league, we want competition, we want good squads and teams. 'But with that comes expectation. So, they will come here, I've no doubt on Sunday, and will look to win the game. So, we've got to be ready for that. And we will be. We'll be ready to go. 'We've got to expect the best Derry that they have. And we've got to make sure we match that.' Get the latest sports headlines straight to your inbox by signing up for free email .
