Lucknow: In a significant reshuffle of senior IPS officers, the Uttar Pradesh govt has appointed Prayagraj commissioner of police (CP)

as IG, Lucknow Range. Prior to his posting as CP in Prayagraj, Gauba was IG Lucknow Range. He was shifted in June 2024 ahead of Maha Kumbh Mela.
Jogendra Kumar
, the current inspector general (IG) of Kanpur Range, has replaced Gauba as the new CP, Prayagraj.
Notably, Kumar served as Prayagraj SSP in 2016. The high-level reshuffle involves the transfer and appointment of 11 senior IPS officers across the state aimed at boosting administrative efficiency and strengthening law enforcement. A 2007-batch IPS officer, Kumar brings with him an extensive experience in both field policing and operational leadership.
He earlier served as superintendent of police in Hamirpur, Mau, and Fatehgarh, and as senior superintendent of police (SSP) in Varanasi, Prayagraj, Bareilly, Ayodhya, and Agra. He also held the post of DIG/SSP Gorakhpur, where he was lauded for solving over 250 cases in just seven months in 2020. In 2012, during his posting in Mau, Kumar led a successful operation in which two notorious criminals were gunned down in an encounter. For his bravery, he was awarded the Police Gallantry Medal by the President of India in 2015.Other key changes include the transfer of IG Upendra Agarwal from Lucknow Range to IG PAC, Lucknow. Ashutosh Kumar, who was serving as IG PAC, has been posted as additional CP, Kanpur Commissionerate. Harish Chandra, additional CP in Kanpur, has been appointed as DIG, Kanpur Range. Sanjeev Tyagi, additional CP in Agra Commissionerate, has been shifted as DIG, Prisons Department, and Hemant Kutiyal, who held the dual charge of DIG Prisons and UPSSF, has been relieved of the Prisons responsibility, continuing with UPSSF alone. Ram Badan Singh, additional CP Noida, has been transferred as additional CP, Agra Commissionerate, and Pradeep Gupta, DIG Telecom, has been shifted in the same capacity to the Prisons Department. Ramesh Chandra Gupta, SP Logistics, has been posted as Commandant, PAC Moradabad, replacing Amit Kumar, who has now been moved as Commandant, PAC Lucknow.

MHA directs against senior UP IPS officer
Lucknow: The Union of home affairs (MHA) has directed the UP government to initiate departmental action against senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Aditya Mishra, at present serving as director general, fire services. According to senior officials in the state home department, the ministry has sent a formal notice recommending disciplinary proceedings against Mishra, a 1989-batch IPS officer. The action pertains to his tenure with the Land Ports Authority of India (LPAI), where he was on deputation. Sources said that Mishra would soon be issued a notice and asked to submit his response. One senior official described the move as a standard procedure under departmental discipline. Mishra has previously served as the ADG (law and order) in Uttar Pradesh. During his tenure with LPAI starting 2019, he played a key role in developing critical infrastructure, including the passenger terminal building and Maitri Dwar at Petrapole in West Bengal, as well as UP's first land port at Rupaidiha in Bahraich district, along the Indo-Nepal border and other projects. Man gets 5-year RI for molesting 8-year-old
N agpur: Nikhil Nikose, a 26-year-old resident of Wadi has been convicted for molesting an 8-year-old girl, and awarded rigorous imprisonment of five years and a fine of Rs4,000. Nikose was pronounced guilty on June 13 by judge RP Pandey of the district and sessions court. The case stems from a complaint filed by a 30-year-old lady at Wadi police station on April 23, 2022. According to the complaint, the complainant and her daughter had gone to attend a relative's engagement ceremony when the accused lured the eight-year-old victim away on the pretext of feeding her ice cream, and molested her. Following the complaint, the cops arrested the accused the next day under the Pocso Act . Based on evidence and witnesses presented, the court found Nikose guilty and sentenced him to undergo imprisonment of five years under Section 10 of Pocso, and Section 363 of IPS, along with a total fine of Rs4,000. Karnataka Lokayukta tells cops to leave if they can't work with honesty, integrity
Bengaluru: Taking note of a recent case where a dismissed constable was found extorting money from corrupt officials by using the name of an IPS officer, Lokayukta Justice BS Patil told police officers of the anti-corruption agency to leave if they don't want to work with honesty, integrity, and commitment. Speaking to TOI, Patil confirmed he had a meeting with senior officials of the police wing of the institution. He said a few people are spoiling the reputation of the institution. "We, as an institution, raided many corrupt officials and unearthed maladministration. As of today, 25,000 cases have been registered under the Karnataka Lokayukta Act," he said. "Outside criminals encouraged by insiders (officials) create a mess. So, I have been curt with them... I asked them to leave the institute if they are not committed to their work," Patil said. "I warned them of leaving all my work and investigating them if any such allegations come to my notice," he added. "Based on the outcome of the investigation into the recent (extortion) case, I have instructed police to issue notices to all those involved and take necessary action.
