I am too young to play certain roles I am offered on TV: Mazel Vyas

Mazel Vyas
Mazel Vyas
, who was seen in the Gujarati film Vahali recently, is in a happy space professionally. The actress from Vadodara, known for TV shows like Saath Nibhana Saathiya, Bollywood films like A Thursday, Ginny Weds Sunny and Wazir, and web series like Dahaad, made her D-Town debut in 2023 with Hello.
Mazel, who was in Ahmedabad recently, shares, 'I am happy to see the growing scale of Gujarati cinema. We had shot Hello at one location during the pandemic, where there were limited people around. But since then, I have seen a massive difference in the scale of our films, the production, locations, and genres we are exploring. With makers putting in more efforts, audiences are watching more Gujarati films now.'
'I owe everything to TV, but want to explore other mediums'
While Mazel is grateful to television for giving her fame, she isn't keen to explore the medium for now.
She shares, 'Even now, many people call me Meera (her character in Saath Nibhana Saathiya). I am grateful to have played a character that people remember even today. I owe everything I have today to television, as it exposed me to this industry and made me reach the audience. However, I used to work 30 days a month, playing the same character.
So, I couldn't take up other work that I was offered. Also, I feel I am too young to play certain roles I am offered on TV, like playing a mother or characters older than me.'

She adds, 'I don't want to explore just one genre or medium. I want to play different characters in different mediums. For instance, I have played a sweet girl, quirky characters, a sex worker in a short film (Highway Nights) alongside
Prakash Jha
and some thriller shows on OTT. So, I am content with the kind of work coming my way and want to continue playing characters that are challenging and creatively satisfying.'
'Artistes need to go beyond what has already been done'
Mazel, who was recently seen in an OTT show co-starring
Suniel Shetty
and
Jackie Shroff
, feels, 'Artistes should explore subjects beyond what has already been done. When a project or a particular genre works well on any medium, makers keep offering similar content, thinking it will have a loyal audience. But for how long can we continue watching or doing the same kind of stuff?'
She adds, 'It's not just about makers, it's true for actors also.
Once, after playing a character on a show, I got five similar offers. I rejected those because I don't want to be typecast. It is important for all artistes to take risks and explore things that haven't been done.'
Talking about the love she gets from Gujarat, Mazel says, "It feels special to have got recognition at the national as well as international level (she has done international projects like In Bloom). However, the love I get from Gujarat, especially in Ahmedabad and Vadodara, can't be compared with anything.
Fans here are like family and doing Gujarati films feels like my gift for them."
Sharing her thoughts on importance of social media, she says, "Times have changed, and social media has become an important part of our lives. During audition calls, I have been told that I need to have a certain number of followers to be cast in an ad. While it is the need of the hour, I prefer being myself on social media instead of going all out there."

Suneel Darshan recalls first meeting with Priyanka Chopra for 'Barsaat'; says ‘Yeh kaunsi heroine ki tarah hogi?'"

Suneel Darshan , who introduced Priyanka Chopra in his film 'Barsaat' alongside Akshay Kumar and Lara Dutta , recently shared how it all began. While promoting his upcoming film 'Andaaz 2' in an interview, recalled meeting Priyanka for the first time. He said she didn't fit the typical image of a Bollywood heroine like Kareena or Karisma Kapoor, but there was something unique about her that stood out. That's how she ended up being the lead in 'Barsaat'. Priyanka to lead opposite Lara Dutta When asked how he decided to cast Priyanka opposite Lara in 'Barsaat', Suneel shared with Bollywood Bubble, 'She came to meet me with her secretary/manager, Prakash Jaju. Haan. So since I got a call from my accountant, you know, from the reception, asking me to come down, it was right here. And my cabin was upstairs. So I asked him to come in, and he said, 'I've brought this girl along, I want to introduce you to her.' I was looking at her and I said, 'Oh… she's not a conventional heroine. ' Woh conventional heroine nahi thi, woh ek alag si lagti thi. Hamari jo typical heroines hoti thi, Karisma, Kareena — unka ek alag look, ek alag approach hota tha.' Describing the look 'Yeh wheatish toh nahi kahunga… chocolate-ish thi, thodi darker tones mein thi. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 20 Things Women Should NEVER Wear! 'Dhadak 2' Box Office collection day 4: Siddhant Chaturvedi-Triptii Dimri's film earns just Rs 1.4 crore on Monday; faces heat from ‘Mahavatar Narsimha' and Ajay Devgn's ‘Son of Sardaar 2'

Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri teamed up for 'Dhadak 2', a film that had all the right ingredients, powerful performances, a meaningful message, and mostly decent reviews. Directed by Shazia Iqbal, this Hindi remake of the Tamil film 'Pariyerum Perumal' was expected to make waves at the box office. But four days in, the numbers tell a different story. Dhadak 2 Movie Review A promising weekend, but a worrying Monday After a fair start on Friday, the film managed to grow over the weekend. 'Dhadak 2' opened with Rs 3.5 crore on Day 1, followed by Rs 3.75 crore on Saturday, and peaked on Sunday with Rs 4.15 crore, its best day yet. However, the real test came on Monday, and unfortunately, the film stumbled. Early estimates suggest that 'Dhadak 2' collected only Rs 1.40 crore on Day 4, taking its total box office collection to Rs 12.80 crore. Although a drop is normal on Mondays, this sharp fall has raised concerns about the film's long-term performance, especially since it didn't see a major jump even during the weekend. Facing a tough crowd at the box office One major reason behind 'Dhadak 2''s struggle could be the strong competition it is up against. The film released alongside Ajay Devgn 's 'Son of Sardaar 2', which performed better with Rs 2.50 crore on Monday, and a four-day total of Rs 27.25 crore. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Salatiga: New Container Houses – Take A Look At The Prices! Container homes | Search ads Learn More Undo Another strong contender is 'Mahavatar Narsimha', which made a solid Rs 8 crore on Monday. And then there's 'Saiyaara', a clear crowd favourite that continues to draw audiences, earning Rs 2.5 crore on Monday alone. With such big titles in theatres, 'Dhadak 2' is struggling to hold its ground and attract footfalls. A new story, not a direct sequel While the film is titled 'Dhadak 2', it is not a continuation of the 2018 film 'Dhadak'. Instead, it stands alone with a fresh storyline and characters. The plot follows a law student who falls in love with his classmate. But things take a dark turn when her family begins to harass him due to caste differences. The film tries to tackle social injustice through a love story. Day 4 occupancy 'Dhadak 2' saw modest theatre attendance on Monday, with an overall Hindi occupancy of 14.26%, as per early data. The film struggled to fill seats in the morning with just 8.36%, but witnessed a slight improvement as the day progressed, 15.30% in the afternoon, 14.59% in the evening, and 18.80% during night shows. Box office performance so far Day 1 (Friday): Rs 3.5 crore Day 2 (Saturday): Rs 3.75 crore Day 3 (Sunday): Rs 4.15 crore Day 4 (Monday): Rs 1.40 crore (early estimates) Total (4 days): Rs 12.80 crore Will the film bounce back? The big question now is whether 'Dhadak 2' can pick up pace again. With just Rs 1.40 crore collected on Day 4, the chances of it reaching a big milestone soon look slim unless something changes mid-week. It's not impossible, but for that to happen, the film will need to gain a stronger hold at the box office, especially in the face of heavy competition.
