Kabul holds six-day Industry exhibition showcasing products by Afghan industrialists
According to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce statement, the exhibition aims to assist domestic investors, facilitate interactions between individuals and businesses, and educate the public about local products.
In his opening remarks, acting Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund emphasised the Afghan interim government's commitment to support industrial development, investment attraction, economic progress, and local products.
"Holding domestic exhibitions has many benefits, including making people aware of domestic products and people knowing that there are manufacturing companies in Afghanistan, and through this, Afghan industry is also introduced to the world." Basir Ahamad Nazari, the head of a food manufacturing companies, told Xinhua.
Speaking about the event at a press conference earlier, Shirbaz Kaminzada, the Director General of the Afghanistan Chamber of Industries and Mines, said that over 700 booths will showcase products made by Afghanistan industrialists and entrepreneurs, offering a unique opportunity to explore the diversity of domestic manufacturing.
Additionally, Kaminzada had announced a special 25% discount on selected goods to encourage citizens to purchase items—especially Eid essentials—at prices lower than regular market rates. This initiative is aimed at easing economic burdens and increasing visibility for local producers, according to a report by Khaama News.
Mohammad Saber Latifi, the Director General of the Afghanistan International Exhibition Center, also emphasised that the exhibition is intended to encourage and support the country's industrial sector, and actively encouraged locals to support national industries by purchasing locally made goods. He stressed that by buying Afghan products, citizens can play a direct role in strengthening the economy and motivating investors to expand domestic production.

Assault on journalist: NHRC issues notice to Punjab DGP
New Delhi, Aug 19 (UNI) The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has taken suo motu cognizance of media reports alleging that a journalist was assaulted earlier this month by two police personnel in the Batala area of Punjab's Gurdaspur district. 'According to reports published on August 7, the incident occurred on August 1, when the scribe was allegedly beaten in full public view after he questioned the officers about their deployment in the area ahead of Independence Day celebrations,' said the NHRC in a statement. 'The Commission observed that if the contents of the report are true, they raise grave concerns about abuse of power and custodial excesses by law enforcement personnel,' said the statement. Congress to launch statewide agitation against ECI from Aug 22 in Tripura
Agartala, Aug 19 (UNI) Tripura Pradesh Congress announced a statewide agitation from August 22 to September 6 against the alleged large-scale vote theft and manipulation of the electoral process. The state Congress President Ashish Kumar Saha accused Election Commission of India (ECI) of colluding with the BJP-led government to curtail the constitutional rights of citizens, and said, 'The most surprising thing is that ECI has joined hands with the government in a conspiracy to deprive people of their voting rights.' Saha said that Congress was staging protests across the country against this trend. As part of the nationwide programme, the Tripura unit will launch an intensive study of the voter list alongside a series of protests. The agitation will begin in Udaipur on August 22, followed by district-level activities across all districts of the state. The state-wide procession will be held in Agartala on August 30, where Congress leaders, workers, and supporters from across Tripura will take part. The movement will culminate in Kailashahar on September 6. The Congress chief also reiterated Rahul Gandhi's allegation that since 2014, the Narendra Modi-led BJP government has been 'misusing administrative machinery, money, and muscle power to capture state elections.' He claimed that the ruling party has now turned the Election Commission into a 'puppet and branch organisation' to manipulate votes.
