Tom Walker reveals reason he invited folk group to join him at TRNSMT
Singer Tom Walker has revealed the heartwarming reason he invited folk favourite Cammy Barnes to join him at TRNSMT music festival.
Cammy, from Fife, joined Walker by playing the bagpipes on the song Leave A Light On.
Walker, 33, said the tune got everybody buzzing for the main stage performance and revealed he has been a fan of Cammy for years - including when they were in a band together.
'It's the first time I've played the main stage. I've played the King Tut's stage a few times so it's really good to be back.'
He added: 'I brought Cammy Barnes up as a surprise on the last song, Leave A Light On, and he played the bagpipes.
'I've been a big supporter of Cammy because me and him played with the Red Hot Chill Pipers.
'We did a few gigs over the years together with the Red Hot Chili Pipers but I always got to chat to him backstage.
'He's such a nice guy.
'He's started up his own thing, he's writing his own songs and he's a great artist and a great singer.
"He slams it on the pipes.'
Looking back on the rousing version of Leave A Light On complete with Barnes playing the bagpipes, Walker said: 'Oh my God, he was amazing. People should go watch that. It's going to be up on the iPlayer.
Bringing the pipes out in Scotland always gets everybody going. It's always buzzing and I could see how much it meant to Cammy.
'He was having the time of his life. It was a real moment.'
A raft of top name acts have played the festival, which is held at Glasgow Green.
50 Cent headlined Friday's main stage and Saturday night was the turn of Biffy Clyro. Sunday's headliners Snow Patrol are closing the Sunday bill.

Kneecap apology to fans as Vienna concert cancelled due to ‘safety concerns'
It comes after the group were banned from entering Hungary in July ahead of their scheduled performance at Sziget Festival on August 11. The group, known for their provocative lyrics and championing of the Irish language, have had several shows cancelled in recent months, including TRNSMT festival in Glasgow and at the Eden Project in Cornwall. They have said there is a smear campaign against them because of their support for Palestine and criticism of Israel's actions in Gaza. In a social media post on Friday the group said: 'Our planned show in Vienna on September 1st is cancelled.' The social media post added: 'To the 3500 people we were looking forward to seeing at our first headline show in Vienna, we are sorry: this is out of our hands. 'All tickets will be refunded. 'Yet again, it is clear that this is political distraction and a further attempt to silence those who call out genocide against the Palestinian people. 'But as always, we will fight on for what is right.' A note on the venues website said: 'Racoon Live Entertainment GmbH hereby cancels the planned Kneecap show on September 1, 2025, at the Gasometer Vienna due to acute safety concerns raised by the responsible authorities.' Kneecap, comprised of Liam Og O hAnnaidh, Naoise O Caireallain and JJ O Dochartaigh, were formed in Belfast and released their first single in 2017. They hit headlines in April when footage emerged that appeared to show a band member saying 'Kill your local MP' at one gig and and 'Up Hamas, up Hezbollah' at another. In May, O hAnnaidh, who performs under the name Mo Chara, was charged with a terrorism offence relating to allegedly displaying a flag in support of Hezbollah at a London gig in November 2024. O hAnnaidh and his bandmates were cheered by hundreds of supporters when they arrived at Westminster Magistrates' Court on June 18.
