Restructured Abu Dhabi Chamber drives business growth
Since the restructuring of its Board of Directors, the Chamber has recorded steady and tangible progress. Membership rose by 4.9%, surpassing 158,000 companies—an indication of growing confidence in Abu Dhabi's business ecosystem and the Chamber's instrumental role in enabling enterprise growth. Sectors that saw the highest increases included agriculture, forestry, and fishing (21%), arts and entertainment (13%), and information and communication technologies and technical activities (10%). Additional growth was reported across water and waste management (9%), real estate and administrative services (8%), education (7%), transport and storage (6%), and mining and quarrying (5%). Construction, manufacturing, and financial services also posted stable growth of approximately 3%.
Business engagement deepened further as over 1,000 private sector representatives took part in 69 business events, including the flagship Abu Dhabi Business Week, and 10 legal and commercial workshops. To advance policy and regulatory reforms, 15 advocacy working groups collaborated with business leaders, while the Chamber answered sector needs with 364 economic reports supporting data-driven planning and insight.
Global engagement also accelerated: the Chamber received 70 diplomatic trade delegations and for the first time, opened an international office in Poland to extend Abu Dhabi's international reach. 11 outbound delegations enhanced market connectivity, and 25 global cooperation agreements were signed. During this period, the Chamber also celebrated business excellence, awarding the Sheikh Khalifa Excellence Award to 7 companies for their performance and innovation.
Over 18,900 enquiries were answered as the Chamber continued its strong commitment to service, reflected in a 90.23% satisfaction rating on the TAMM platform.

Sheikh Mohammed Rides Etihad Rail's First Passenger Train
By OUR CORRESPONDENT Abu Dhabi – Etihad Rail, the UAE's national railway project, has marked a major milestone as it prepares to launch passenger services in 2026. In a symbolic journey from Dubai to Fujairah, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai, was hosted aboard the Etihad Passenger Train. The journey highlighted the nation's commitment to sustainable transport and regional connectivity. The Etihad Railway network will connect 11 cities and regions across the UAE — from Al Sila in the west to Fujairah in the east — covering a distance that unites the country from coast to coast. Trains are designed to run at speeds of up to 200 km/h, offering a fast, efficient, and environmentally friendly alternative to road transport. Once operational, the passenger railway is expected to transport 36 million people annually by 2030, marking a transformative shift in public transport across the UAE. The initiative supports the UAE's broader sustainability goals and vision for long-term infrastructure development. Expressing his pride in the project, Sheikh Mohammed stated: 'We are proud of our national projects, proud of the Etihad Trains team led by Theyab bin Mohammed bin Zayed, and proud of a country that never stops working — adding a new brick to its future every day.' New strategic plan to shape Dakhliyah's growth
Nizwa – Dakhliyah has launched its strategic development plan for 2026-2030 as part of ongoing efforts to promote decentralisation and enhance institutional planning. The plan aligns with Oman Vision 2040, the National Urban Development Strategy and the sultanate's five-year development framework. A cooperation agreement was signed on Wednesday between the Governorate of Dakhliyah and Oman Think Urban, a planning and development centre, to implement the strategy under the corporate name 'Afaq'. Intended to enhance public engagement and decentralised governance, it will be developed based on analytical and field studies. Sheikh Hilal bin Saeed al Hajri, Governor of Dakhliyah, said the agreement represents a step towards realistic and measurable planning approaches, aimed at delivering results that benefit all wilayats in the governorate. He stressed the importance of involving both local communities and government entities in every phase of the plan. It seeks to tap into the governorate's resources and strengths, enabling local authorities, citizens and private businesses to contribute to decision-making and development. Khaled bin Adim al Salmi, Director of Planning and Investment Department in the governorate, described the plan as a practical reflection of national policies promoting decentralised and balanced development. He added that community and private sector participation would be central to prioritising and allocating resources effectively. Prof Mahmoud bin Humaid al Wahaibi, CEO of Oman Think Urban, said the plan would adopt a participatory model supported by scientific methodologies and measurable indicators. The approach aims to produce sustainable outcomes and address future development challenges. The 'Afaq' project will also involve local capacity building and training programmes to boost institutional and community participation. A workshop was held during the launch with participation of governorate staff and representatives of public agencies. The session was a platform to discuss the overall direction of the plan and ensure it reflects the governorate's development needs. According to the Governor's Office, the plan will support key sectors including tourism, industry, education, innovation and infrastructure development.
