EastEnders' Colin Salmon gives health update on wife after devastating illness
EastEnders star Colin Salmon, who plays George Knight, has given an update on his wife after she was diagnosed with a rare health condition prior to him joining the BBC soap EastEnders star Colin Salmon has given a health update on his wife following her devastating illness in an interview with Good Morning Britain. Colin's wife, Fiona Hawthorne, whom he's been married to for over 30 years, suffers from a rare condition called interstitial lung disease, which has left her dependent on an oxygen tank. The actor has been open about his wife's illness in the past, and the motivation behind joining EastEnders, revealing that he "can't be far from home" due to Fiona's condition. The artist was diagnosed with interstitial lung disease two years prior to Colin joining the BBC soap in 2023. She was placed on steroids and received chemotherapy for the condition, which makes it difficult for oxygen to enter the bloodstream. Giving fans a positive update on GMB, Colin said: "Well, I think at the time I mentioned my wife was unwell, which has been resolved. My wife is well, she had the surgery, and I bought a house in America on the 1st of July, we're in a completely different place. "Being in Walford, part of the plan for me was, I always see the BBC as the university of broadcasting, so there I can learn and there I may get the opportunity to start to go down that road with really great crews to make sure I get it right." Elsewhere in the interview, the star teased that he has a 'really disturbing' storyline coming up on the BBC soap. George was previously at the centre of a baby farming storyline, after he learned from his parents that they were actually paid to take him rather than adopt him of their own choosing, but he's now explained that something even more dramatic is on the cards. "We've got another storyline you haven't seen before. I did the farming storyline. We have another storyline that is perfect for this time, it's real, it's really disturbing, and it's coming. I can't tell you what it is." It's been a tough time for George and his family recently, after his split from his wife Elaine, who later decided to sell the pub. After their split, George moved in with his brother Kojo. Spoilers for next week reveal that George is set to find Kojo in a bad way when it's revealed he's taken drugs. It comes as it was revealed that Molly Rainford, who plays George's daughter Anna Knight, would be leaving the soap. It's not yet been revealed when or how she will be leaving the soap but could this storyline tie in with her exit? EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

Lana Del Rey Vs Ethel Cain - The 'Copycat' IG Post, Body Shaming Allegation and Lyrical Digs Explained
Another day in celeb world, another feud. This time, the drama is brewing between Ethel Cain and Lana Del Ray. While it's no secret that Ethel has been compared to Lana several times, drama escalated between the pair this week thanks to the lyrics of Lana's new song. It kicked off when Lana posted an Instagram video which showed her in a car, listening to a segment of a song from her upcoming album, with the lyrics 'Ethel Cain hated my Instagram post / Think it's cute reenacting my Chicago pose.' People were quick to deduce that the lyric seems to reference a picture from 2024 of Cain with Jack Donoghue - Del Ray's supposed ex-boyfriend, in front of a dam. Ethel had a close friendship with Jack, and some reports even suggested she dated him after his relationship with Lana. What's more, the 2024 image was strikingly similar to a previous photo of Del Rey and Donoghue outside Chicago's Cook County Jail. In the song, Rey's lyrics also say 'The most famous girl at the Waffle House/ I don't regret it/ The most famous girl at the Waffle House.' In a 2022 profile in The New York Times, Cain was dubbed 'The Most Famous Girl at the Waffle House' - leading many people to think Ray is throwing further shade at her here. The lyric also references Lana's own viral 2023 moment, when she was spotted working a shift at a Waffle House in Alabama. Things escalated even further when Pop Pass shared a post reporting on the unreleased segment of the song, Lara also alleged that Ethel body-shamed her in a comment. 'I don't know who Ethel was until a few years ago – when someone brought to my attention the disturbing and graphic side-by-side images she would often put up of me next to unflattering creatures and cartoon characters making constant comments about my weight, I was confused at what she was getting at,' she wrote. 'Then when I heard what she was saying behind closed doors from mutual friends and started inserting herself into my personal life I was definitely disturbed.' Shortly after, Cain shared on her Instagram stories that Lana had blocked her on the platform. Ethel has not responded to Lana's claims. The links between Ethel and Lana go a long way back. According to reports, Ethel used to be a Lana Del Ray fan, and even posted a cover of her track, born to die, online in 2017. However, in time Ethel reportedly grew frustrated with the comparisons between her and Lana. According to Dazed, she once replied to a fan who compared the two of them by saying 'I pushed her over when I ran past' and 'She'll never catch up to me in her Macy's dress.' Neither Lana or Ethel have released public statements about the feud. As for how the fed between these two indie stars will play out online (and on Spotify)? Watch this space. Channel 4 Derry Girls' Saoirse-Monica Jackson's stunning three-day Irish wedding
Saoirse-Monica Jackson, who played Erin Quinn in the Bafta award-winning series Derry Girls, has married in a three-day celebration in Ireland Derry Girls actress Saoirse-Monica Jackson and her DJ partner honoured their Celtic roots as they tied the knot in a spectacular three-day Irish celebration. The 31-year-old, famed for portraying schoolgirl Erin Quinn in the beloved Channel 4 series, donned a cream gown featuring puff sleeves as she exchanged vows with Hector Barbour, professionally known as Denis Sulta, near Kenmare in Co Kerry. Fellow Derry Girls star Jamie-Lee O'Donnell opted for an elegant floor-length green Rat & Boa number whilst serving as one of the bridesmaids, as Jackson made her way down the aisle, accompanied by her father, to a rendition of the programme's iconic theme tune Dreams by The Cranberries. It comes after Andy Carroll 'splits from Lou Teasdale due to her demands' weeks after public row. Reflecting on the event to British Vogue, Jackson remarked: "Everybody said that the whole weekend was like something from a movie, and it really was. "I want to do it again." Jackson's gown underwent a stunning transformation for the evening reception, with the skirt being shortened and the corset reversed to showcase a tartan detail. The bride's bespoke Annie's Ibiza creation incorporated touching tributes to both her mother's and mother-in-law's bridal gowns in its design, she revealed to the magazine. Barbour popped the question with a bespoke ring during a seaside getaway in Donegal whilst the couple were clad in Dryrobes and Crocs, the pair disclosed to Vogue. Jackson revealed that Barbour had penned his entire proposal speech, which she treasured being able to revisit afterwards. The pair initially planned to tie the knot overseas for an alfresco celebration, but chose Ireland as a nod to their shared Celtic roots, they revealed to Vogue. In pictures captured by StoryofEve, Scottish-born Barbour donned a kilt and feathered hat for the nuptials, alongside his groomsmen. Sharing snaps from the festivities on Instagram, Jackson penned "to infinity and beyond", including a clip of her hubby sweeping her off her feet on the dance floor. In another post filled with videos from the big day, she expressed her gratitude to their loved ones, writing: "To all our loved ones, you are everything". One video captures Jackson in her bridal gown, playfully quipping "she's a shy bride, a very shy bride" before cheekily asking "When's the kissing?" A photo showed Jackson enjoying a pint of Guinness, while a video features the bride sharing a dance with O'Donnell, who portrayed fellow schoolgirl Michelle Mallon in Derry Girls. The Bafta-winning series, penned by Lisa McGee for Channel 4, chronicles the lives of teenagers growing up in Northern Ireland during the 1990s, prior to the Good Friday Agreement.
