Maya Jama: ‘I splurged on a Birkin bag — it's an investment'

It's a sexy show so we've always fed into that, but this year we've delved into some vintage designer archives, in particular preloved looks from the 1990s — a few Chanel pieces, some 1994 Versace — to elevate it a bit but keep it fun. Think bright, colourful minidresses.
Oversized shirts with shorts or skinny jeans. My inspiration is 1990s off-duty supermodels — they loved a big white shirt with a big belt, boots or kitten heels.
I loved the white Dolce & Gabbana dress that I wore to host the British Fashion Awards in 2023. It was huge and puffy but had a skirt that I took off, so I got to make a grand entrance on the red carpet like a princess but then make it more moveable.
When I started, there were so many rules. For my first job at MTV they wanted me to look like a member of Little Mix, but now I get to wear what I want, really. I sacrifice comfort! On TV I always think you can suffer for a couple of hours in an outfit, whereas day to day I'm all about comfort. I have learnt that small prints and patterns don't look as good on telly — crisscrosses, stripes, they don't translate as well on camera.
My first Brit awards in 2016. Me and [the reality TV personality] Jess Wright wore the same dress and I thought, oh, here we go. When I was younger I did go through an Avril Lavigne, grungy skater vibe with fishnet arms and legwarmers, but that look was in at the time.
I think we were quite ahead of the curve. We went to charity or vintage shops, wore Levi's denim jackets, oversized cardigans with a miniskirt and boots.
Probably jeans. My weight goes up and down a lot, so I have various sizes and I hold on to all of them. Levi's is probably my most used brand, although I did buy some Alaïa jeans recently, which are quite posh.
Pyjamas, flip-flops, sometimes barefoot, which is disgusting, I know.
I love a shirt and oversized jeans, loose but neatly tailored. I also really like it when men wear shirts and ties under bomber jackets. A$AP Rocky has been doing it recently and has great style.
A cropped khaki green bomber jacket my friend got for me in Japan years ago. It's silky orange inside and has stitched-on patches of loads of random things. She knew I'd love it, which makes it very personal to me. I've had it for years and it goes with everything.
I always go back to Urban Outfitters — I worked there as a teenager and they gave us a 40 per cent discount, which was amazing. I've still got so much in my wardrobe and, if I see one, I pop in and grab bits.

Loewe. I love the jackets and how they are fitted. I have a few Jacquemus summer dresses and feel like I'm on some yachty vacay whenever I wear one. It would be a dream to delve into Bottega too.
A Birkin bag by Hermès — but it's an investment.

Big heels. I live in heels. My foot is permanently in a heel shape. Then mainly jeans.
I recently wore cigarette jeans and this white blouse that unbuttoned at the top and bottom and then was more fitted in the middle.Love Island airs Monday to Friday and Sunday at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX

Love Island's Dejon puts on brave face as he reunites with co-stars after step-sister slams him as a ‘narcissist'

LOVE Island star Dejon put on a brave face as he reunited with his fellow co-stars after his stepsister branded him a "narcissist". The ex Islander came under fire for his controversial behaviour on the show and was repeatedly called a "gaslighter" by fans. 4 4 4 It has since been revealed that a family member has released a tell-all book exposing the TV star. Niah, who is not biologically related to Dejon but shares a brother with him, took to TikTok to give fans an unfiltered glimpse into the 'real Dejon' and insisted he is "manipulative" and "narcissistic". She has even gone as far as to write her own account in a tell-all book named 'Surviving Dejon', which is already available to buy. Despite this, Dejon has failed to address the video and his stepsister's claims and instead has been hitting the party scene with his co-stars. Yesterday, Dejon and girlfriend Meg joined Harrison, Lauren, Helena, Angel and Ty for dinner and drinks. And today Dejon was pictured smiling alongside Meg with Lauren and Harrison. The photo was captioned: "My people," with a red heart emoji. HUGE FALLOUT In the six minute video, Niah claimed that what viewers have seen on TV is an accurate reflection of how Dejon behaves in real life. She began: " So I've decided to speak out because I've been silent for way too long and I know that I will be receiving probably a lot of backlash from my family for this. "You guys are all clearly very traumatised from seeing Dejon on TV and seeing everything that he's doing and watching everything play out it seems as though no one is holding him accountable. She went on to say: 'Dejon is a narcissist, he's manipulative. I've been telling everyone this for the past 10 years now but no one believed me. And it's just crazy now that the whole of the UK can see what I've been trying to explain to people for so long. She continued: 'I didn't want to speak out on this. That's why I haven't made any videos directly explaining anything about him because I know that it can affect my family in a bad way. "And I do completely understand if they are upset with me for this post. She added: "One thing I will say is, I knew from the beginning, from the first episode I knew exactly what was going to go down. "It's just a shame because I don't want him to be seen like this, but I genuinely don't think that he sees that he's a narcissist, you know? and I actually do feel bad for Meg in a sense." Speaking about the book alongside a trailer for it, she penned: 'This book answers everything. reasons why I spoke out. Why fear kept me silent for so long. How I lost everyone and everything I ever cared about. 'It reveals the truth behind the rumours I never wanted to address. I need to tell my truth in the way that I feel in control. This is not for attention, creating this book was like therapy for me. 'I would never put my reputation on the line or lose the people I loved if I didn't have a powerful reason to finally speak.' Niah even posted a trigger warning for the book as it contains: "emotionally intense and potentially distressing content". Speaking to the Daily Mail, Dejon has hit back at claims of him being a 'narcissist', he said: "I do take full accountability for how I communicated at times in the villa. "The girls who were on the show with me say I'm not a narcissist, I'm not a gaslighter, all of these things they have seen online, it means a lot to me because they spent 24 hours a day with me. "I could have handled situations better but when it comes to being a 'narcissist' and these words, empathy is definitely something that I have, it's something I had for Meg, for Harry, and when Meg was upset, I was there for her, and when Harry was upset it would break my heart. "Me and Harry had a thing, we called it fitness and feelings where we would go to the gym and I would say "don't worry H, we can be free here, our tears, people will think they're sweat."' 4

Newcastle forced to issue grovelling apology to fans after Atletico Madrid stream hit by ‘technical issues'

NEWCASTLE were forced to issue a grovelling apology to fans following their defeat to Atletico Madrid. The Magpies hosted the Spanish giants at St James' Park in their final pre-season friendly. Julian Alvarez and Antoine Griezmann scored in the second half to secure a 2-0 victory for Diego Simeone's side. But Toon supporters not in attendance at the game were left frustrated when the stream crashed. Plenty took to social media to blast the technology. One said: "Only Newcastle could charge £7 for a stream for it not to work." Another fumed: "Anyone else's stream of the Newcastle vs Atletico Madrid match just cut off. Raging after I've paid to watch the match. Classic NUFC website." A third raged: "Nothing going right for Newcastle this summer." A fourth moaned: "The club is falling apart." Following the defeat, Newcastle took to X to say a desperate sorry to their dejected followers. And they confirmed those who stumped up the cash would get it back. Bruno Guimaraes escapes red card after moment of madness in Newcastle's 'friendly' against Tottenham Newcastle said: "We apologise for the technical issues with today's live stream. "Those affected will be refunded the value of the match." But plenty quipped back that they can keep the money and put it towards signing some more players before the transfer window closes after missing out on a string of targets including Benjamin Sesko. Newcastle begin their Premier League campaign next Saturday with the lunchtime kick-off away at Aston Villa. However, Eddie Howe will be sweating on the fitness of star man Anthony Gordon after he limped off in worrying scenes. 3 3

shared a sweet snap with her husband Chris Hughes on Friday. The Britain's Got Talent judge, 54, looked stunning as she posed with her long-haired husband, 51, to whom she has been married since 2008 after meeting in 2003. Alongside the Instagram post, Amanda - who shares daughters Lexi, 19, and Hollie, 13, with her husband - shared the sweet caption: 'To the moon and back….8:8', with a heart and moon emoji attached. Amanda looked sensational in a black chiffon dress with a tie neck and plunging neckline as she beamed with her husband's arms wrapped around her hips. And music producer Chris proved his wife is not the only ageless one as he showcased his jet black locks and extremely smooth complexion. It seems a number of Amanda's fans could not believe how youthful the pair look, with an onslaught of comments marvelling at their good looks. A number of Amanda's 2.5million followers shared their thoughts, penning: 'No grey hair's what's your secret??... Beautiful... 'Although, it would appear that you both are not aging, which for the rest of us is dreadfully unfair... As my Nan would say what a handsome couple. You both look radiant... Chris hasn't aged in 20 years!' The reference to the date appeared to be a nod to the annual occurence of the Lion's Gate Portal - an astrological sign to manifest 'heart-based desires'. The event is detailed as: 'On August 8th, the Lion's Gate Portal aligns with the heliacal rising of the star Sirius within the constellation of Leo. The energy is ripe for manifesting our innermost, heart-based desires.' Chris, who is a former drummer and now producer for artists including Paul McCartney, Robert Plant and Tears for Fears, is a rare feature on Amanda's social media, due to his loathing of the spotlight. Amanda reflected on his feelings in an interview with The Times last month, saying: 'He can't stand the limelight and hates red carpets.' She revealed that the couple, who met in 2003, often lock horns - most recently over the purchase of their £7m property in Cobham, Surrey. Chris is Amanda's second husband, after her marriage to Family Fortunes legend Les Dennis, whom she married in 1995 when she was 22 and he was 40 before splitting in 2000 when her affair with Men Behaving Badly star Neil Morrissey came to light Amanda revealed Chris had 'no say', saying: 'All the decisions about the house are mine. He hates it and argues with me all the time and then says I was right.' They later rekindled their romance but separated in 2002 and divorced in 2003. She went on to marry Chris in a Christmas-themed wedding in St Margaret's Church in Somerset in December 2008, where F1 driver David Coulthard was best man.
