Minor girl's plaint: HC directs social media platforms to remove abusive video
Kochi: High court has directed social media platforms, including
Facebook
, YouTube and Instagram, to remove an allegedly manipulated video of a minor girl that was circulated with vulgar and abusive phrases intended to ridicule her.
Justice N Nagaresh issued the interim order in a petition filed by the 14-year-old girl through her mother, seeking stringent action against the offenders. The case stems from an incident where the girl gave her comments to online channels outside a theatre after watching a movie. According to the petitioner, the video of her review was later altered by inserting mocking background music, sarcastic voice filters and sexually suggestive or deeply insulting phrases.
The manipulated content was widely shared by various social media accounts.
The girl came to know about the video only after her classmates and teachers brought it to her attention. Despite approaching the police for the removal of the video and action against those responsible, no effective steps were taken, she said.
In her petition, the girl sought an interim direction to compel social media platforms to deploy AI-based content recognition and automated filtering tools to detect and remove the abusive video. After considering the matter, the court allowed the interim prayer and directed urgent notices to be issued to Facebook, YouTube and Instagram. The case has been posted for July 8.

‘Didn't get time to make reels': Noida woman files police complaint against husband over housework; blames loss of Instagram followers
A disagreement over Instagram use escalated into a full-blown police matter in Uttar Pradesh after a woman accused her husband of overburdening her with household chores, leaving her with no time to focus on creating content for social media. As reported by News18, the unusual dispute involves Nisha and her husband Vijendra. They live in Noida. Trouble began when Vijendra suggested that Nisha should spend less time on Instagram and more on domestic chores. The advice didn't go down well, sparking growing tension between the two. Initially, Nisha did cut down on her time online, but things took a turn when she noticed her follower count drop by two. Upset by the decline, she packed her bags and left for her parents' home in Pilkhuwa, Hapur district. There, she approached the Women's Police Station in Hapur and filed a complaint against Vijendra. Speaking to the police, she reportedly said, 'My followers declined as I was kept busy washing utensils and cleaning the house by my husband. I didn't get time to make Reels,' according to Deccan Herald. Nisha also told officers that she was in the habit of uploading two Reels a day. To make matters worse, News18 reports that Vijendra lost his job amid the ongoing personal turmoil. He's now said to be actively searching for work and attending job interviews around the city. 'Thought it was an earthquake': Eyewitnesses recount horrific Ahmedabad plane crash; say sky was filled with black smoke
NEW DELHI: Mohan Bahadur Kshatriya, an eyewitness to the Air India crash in Ahmedabad, recounted scenes of devastation and chaos on Saturday as he joined rescue efforts just minutes after the aircraft went down on Thursday. Living just 500 meters from the crash site, Kshatriya said he initially mistook the deafening explosion for an earthquake. 'I heard a loud bang and thought it was a storm or an earthquake,' he said. 'When I stepped out, there was smoke and fire everywhere. People were shouting that a plane had crashed. We ran toward the mess where students were screaming for help.' He worked alongside Army personnel to rescue five severely injured students from the wreckage. He added, 'They were in extremely serious condition. Then we searched further and found a body in terrible shape, trapped under the debris,' he added. Another eyewitness, Rekha Kshatriya, described the moment the aircraft hit as unlike anything they had ever experienced before, even in a neighborhood accustomed to loud noise. 'I have been staying here for the last 13-14 years, that day, around 1:30 p.m., we heard a loud noise. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Đăng ký Undo Although we are accustomed to hearing loud noises, this time the noise felt like our eardrums would burst. It seemed like an earthquake. We had just sat down to have lunch, and the furniture in our house had started shaking violently. For a second, it felt like a bomb blast happened. Then, when we went outside, we saw that a plane had crashed. We saw broken pieces of aircraft everywhere. It was difficult to understand whether it was a plane crash, a terrorist attack, or something else. The whole sky was filled with black smoke. High flames were rising everywhere." As questions arises about how the tragedy occurred, the civil aviation ministry has constituted a high-level multi-disciplinary committee to investigate the causes of the crash. "A High Level Multi-disciplinary Committee is constituted for examining the causes leading to the crash of the Air India Flight AI-171 from Ahmedabad to Gatwick Airport (London) on June 12, 2025. The Committee will examine the existing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and guidelines issued to prevent and handle such occurrences and suggest comprehensive guidelines for dealing with such instances in the future," the ministry said in an official statement. It clarified that the new panel will not replace other formal inquiries but will focus on formulating improved protocols to prevent similar disasters in the future. The aircraft involved, Air India AI-171, was en route from Ahmedabad to London's Gatwick Airport when it crashed on June 12. Follow more information on Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad here . Criminal proceedings against Palvai quashed
Justice K Lakshman of the Telangana High Court on Friday quashed criminal proceedings against Sirpur BJP MLA Palvai Harish Babu in connection with a case registered against him during the 2023 Telangana Assembly elections. The FIR, dated October 19, 2023, was filed at Dahegaon police station in Asifabad district under Section 188 of the IPC, alleging that the legislator held a public meeting at Kothmeer village of Dahegaon mandal without obtaining mandatory permission from the Returning Officer of the Sirpur constituency. The complaint, lodged by the Returning Officer, led to a case being registered against Harish Babu, which was later transferred to the Special Judicial Magistrate of First Class for Trial of Cases Relating to MPs and MLAs in Hyderabad. Revenue staff rapped for arbitrary action Justice CV Bhaskar Reddy of the Telangana High Court on Friday found fault with the actions of the revenue authorities in a land dispute involving a 400 sq yard open plot in Karmanghat village under Saroornagar mandal of Rangareddy district. The court set aside the order dated May 28, 2025, issued by the Saroornagar tahsildar to the Station House Officer (SHO), Meerpet Police Station, which wrongly categorised the petitioner's property under Survey No 58 instead of Survey No 60. Justice Bhaskar Reddy was hearing a writ petition filed by B Bujji, seeking to declare the actions of the tahsildar and the SHO as illegal, arbitrary, and violative of Articles 14, 21, and 300A of the Constitution. The matter has been adjourned to July 11.
