Jake Paul accepts catastrophic purse for Anthony Joshua heavyweight fight
Jake Paul has shockingly agreed to take just a ONE PER CENT share of the purse in a potential blockbuster fight with Anthony Joshua.
The social media sensation recently sat down with Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh to discuss a potential fight with the two-time heavyweight champion. Earlier this year, Paul shocked the boxing world after he called for a fight with the 35-year-old. Joshua didn't shy away, ringing up the American and verbally shaking hands on a scrap over the phone.
Both are eyeing a mammoth crossover showdown come 2026. Fresh off his victory over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr last month, the 'Problem Child' renewed his call-out to Joshua.
During a recent appearance on 'The Boxing Voice', Alalshikh disclosed that Paul is so keen on the clash that he has accepted a staggering 99-1 purse split in favour of Joshua. "I'm not against what Jake Paul's doing in boxing, it's good for boxing to have a young generation," Alalshikh admitted.
"I'm against some kinds of fights he does. I'm now thinking him against Joshua. Joshua, if he destroys (Paul), it will be good for me. The headache of Jake Paul goes from my mind. If Jake Paul wins, I will know that Joshua is finished, and Jake Paul deserves his ranking and deserves to have a future in boxing. I don't want 50-50. In this situation, I want 99-1. Jake Paul has accepted. Now, next week I will talk with Joshua about it," reports All Out Fighting.
Eddie Hearn has dropped a bombshell, suggesting that a boxing clash the pair could be on the cards for next year. Speaking to Pro Boxing Fans, the promoter didn't mince his words: "Yeah (there have been discussions), I was with his excellency yesterday, obviously he'd met Jake Paul, I think he would like to do it, you know, but it's mad enough to happen.

The boxing promoter remarked: "It's a fight that shouldn't really happen. They're very clever in terms of the opponents they pick. It wouldn't be surprising if Jake Paul wanted to move forward with an Anthony Joshua fight. Would he [Joshua] go in there and give him a hiding for a massive chunk of money? Probably. I'd be saying, 'Yeah, go on. I'd like to see. Is he [Jake] world-class? Absolutely not, but he is improving. He's a lot better than a lot of fighters out there."
When is Jake Paul's next fight?
Paul's next bout is already generating buzz after his victory over Cesar Chavez Jr last month. The American YouTube star is now eligible to compete for a world title, having been ranked in the WBC's cruiserweight division following his triumph against the Mexican fighter.
Paul's manager disclosed that his business associate is eager to contest for a world championship 'as soon as possible'. Yet, he concedes that a title fight might not be Paul's immediate next step due to the current 200lbs division landscape. "Absolutely [he will fight again this year]. November or December," Bidarian told Ariel Helwani regarding Paul's future plans. "I'm seeing him tonight for dinner, and we will have a conversation [about his next opponent]. The only possibility right now is that Jake wants to fight for a belt as soon as possible.
"I have to talk to him, I think it's tough this year [to box for a world title]. Badou Jack is who he wants to fight more than anyone, and he has a mandatory rematch with the guy he just beat [Noel Mikaelian] for the WBC. I don't know if this year is possible [for the title fight], but we'll see."

While there are still many intriguing match-ups for the Brit, Joshua has sensationally admitted that this year could be his last as a boxer. The two-time heavyweight world champion paid tribute to his promotional team Matchroom Boxing - who have managed him since his professional debut in 2013 - on Friday night, stating that his 'last punch' will be thrown this year.
