Delay RAS Mains exam: ABVP demands as it backs aspirants
2
Jaipur: Supporting RAS mains aspirants, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) joined the protest on Thursday with the demand that the exam should be postponed. The exam is scheduled to take place on June 17-18.
From Friday, a few aspirants also started an indefinite hunger strike at the Rajasthan University campus.
ABVP functionaries, along with the students, have been on an indefinite sit-in protest since Thursday night. RAS aspirants gathered at Rajasthan University said that initially, they were not allowed to enter the university campus on Thursday night, after which they sought support from ABVP for the protest.
Deepak Kaushik, an RAS aspirant leading the protest, said, "We took support from ABVP as despite several memorandums and requests submitted to the authorities, our demands are not being heard. We have made our demands known to every minister of the govt, MLA, and even the Deputy CM and have also received letters of support, but till now no cognizance has been taken by the chief minister on this issue."
The applicants have pointed out that the interviews for RAS 2023 are currently in progress, with the final results pending announcement.

Ahead of polls, student bodies in Delhi University release ‘report cards' to woo voters
NEW DELHI: With the Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) elections slated for September, contesting organisations have begun showcasing their performance over the past year. Both the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), which led the students' union last term, and the National Students' Union of India (NSUI) have released detailed 'report cards' of their tenure and initiatives. On Tuesday, ABVP leaders presented their achievements at a press conference at the DUSU office. Highlighting their work, office bearers claimed the union directly resolved 4,248 student grievances, pushed the university to fully implement the National Education Policy (NEP), introduced a centralised hostel allocation system, and resisted fee hikes under the 'One Course-One Fee' demand. They also highlighted initiatives on women's safety and empowerment, including the 24x7 Vamika helpline, deployment of women PCR vans, and self-defence training under Mission Sahasi. Campaigns such as Ritumati Abhiyan for menstrual health awareness and Shakti Vandan to recognise women leaders were projected as major milestones. ABVP leaders further underlined their opposition to the proposed Rs 1 lakh bond policy and attempts at indirect elections, calling these 'decisive steps' in safeguarding student interests. Meanwhile, NSUI released its report card through posters and infographics on social media, stressing that its priority was 'governance, not politics.' The organisation showcased the launch of multiple functional cells — including Legal, Environmental, Sports, Placement, Cultural, Grievance, Business Development, Women Empowerment, and Start-Up Cells — aimed at addressing everyday student concerns. As the September polls draw near, these report cards are being viewed as early election pitches by the leading organisations to highlight their performance and win over the student electorate.

DUSU office vandalised by unidentified men, student wings trade barbs
Ahead of the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) election, which is scheduled for next month, its office was vandalised on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday. According to Delhi University officials, a group of 20 to 25 unidentified men forced their way into the DUSU building, after allegedly kicking open the main gate and thrashing the guards who tried to stop them. 'They spoke to the guards in an arrogant manner,' said Prof Rajni Abbi, Director of the South Campus. 'The police are investigating the matter, and based on the outcome of the probe, we will take action against those responsible,' she added. The incident has once again sharpened the rivalry between the two dominant student groups — the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and the National Students' Union of India (NSUI) — with one accusing the other of orchestrating the violence. Holding the ABVP responsible, outgoing DUSU president Ronak Khatri told The Indian Express, 'It is a clear attempt by the ABVP to intimidate…' Meanwhile,ABVP member Rishabh Chaudhary said 'I had a couple of days ago held Khatri responsible and shared that he had not done any work in the past year… he himself must have orchestrated this vandalism.' The office of then DUSU president Tushar Dedha was demolished in a similar manner last year, forcing the university to spend nearly Rs 22 lakh on renovations. On Tuesday morning, as the tenure of the DUSU executive for 2024–25 formally ended, university officials sealed the vandalised office, which will now only be reopened once the new representatives are elected.
