This big party decides not to support NDA candidate in Vice Presidential election due to..., move can create trouble for BJP because...
Now, as the process of the election of the next Vice-President of the country is going on, one of the key members of the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has said that it will not support the NDA-supported candidate in the Vice-Presidential election. Which NDA member has refused to support the Vice-Presidential candidate?
The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has said that it will not support the NDA-supported candidate in the Vice-Presidential election. This was announced by former BJD MP Mahesh Sahu. He said that the party will never support the NDA candidate. 'Whoever is made the candidate by NDA in the Vice-Presidential election, BJD will not support him'. What is the reason behind BJD's decision?
Mahesh Sahu said that the last time, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi made Draupadi Murmu of Odisha a candidate for the post of the President, the BJD supported her. But now the situation is different, and the incidents related to the Waqf Board are no longer a topic of discussion.
As soon as the discussion of the Vice-Presidential election started, the question arose who the BJD will support this time. What is BJD's dilemma?
If BJD supports the NDA candidate, then it will be seen as closeness with the BJP. At the same time, if BJD supports the candidate of the INDIA Alliance, then a new equation can be seen in national politics. Apart from this, if BJD does not support any party's candidate and remains neutral, then its influence in Delhi politics may decrease.
In such a situation, it is the decision of BJD President Naveen Patnaik that will be the final call in this matter. It is worth noting that after the resignation of Jagdeep Dhankhar, the post of Vice President is lying vacant, and the date of election has also been announced.
However, till now neither the INDIA Alliance nor the NDA has announced their respective candidates. But even before that, the BJD leader has given a big statement. When is the Vice-Presidential election?
The Election Commission has issued the notification for filing the nomination for the Vice-Presidential election. Nominations for the office of vice president can be filed till 21 August, and the election will be held on 9 September.
This will be the 17th Vice Presidential election. The Vice-President is elected by an Electoral College, which consists of the members of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. The counting of the votes will be held on 9 September.

MNF may soon leave NDA, predicts BJP MLA
1 2 Aizawl: BJP MLA K Hrahmo on Monday predicted that Mizo National Front (MNF), though a part of NDA , may soon leave the BJP-led alliance as the regional party is in NDA only in name. Hrahmo's prediction comes four days after ruling Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) Lok Sabha member Richard Vanlalhmangaiha attended the meeting of the NDA floor leaders in Delhi. Sources in ZPM said Vanlalhmangaiha attended the NDA floor leaders' meeting on Aug 7 at the invitation of parliamentary affairs minister Kiren Rijiju which triggered speculations that ZPM is joining the NDA bloc. Hrahmo, while addressing party workers at 'Mipuite Run' (Atal Bhavan) in Aizawl, said though MNF party is in NDA, it has been reluctant to be close to the saffron party and distances itself from the alliance. He attributed the financial crisis during the MNF rule to the party's lukewarm relationship with the Centre, saying that the previous MNF administration failed to distribute Rs 3 lakh each to selected beneficiaries under its flagship programme — the Socio-Economic Development Programme — due to acute fiscal crunch. The BJP legislator also said the present govt is also facing the same problems as ZPM refused to join NDA when the BJP leadership at the Centre invited them. Samrat hails naming MPs' residential block as Kosi
Patna: Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary hailed the Centre's decision to name one of the four blocks of the 184 new MPs residential flats built in Delhi after river Kosi of Bihar. He thanked PM Narendra Modi , who inaugurated the residential premises on Monday. "Kosi is not a bane, but a blessing for Bihar," Samrat said. The other three blocks have been named as Krishna, Godavari and Hooghly. While inaugurating the residential complex, PM Modi also took a jibe at the opposition and said, "Some people will feel uncomfortable with Kosi as the name of one of the four residential towers. They will not view it as a river, but rather through the lens of the Bihar elections. However, these four rivers give life to crores of people and now a new stream of happiness will flow in the lives of the public representatives living in the towers built in their names. " The Kosi was once synonymous with floods and disasters. Samrat said naming a residential block for the members of Parliament as Kosi is an indicator of the PM's love for Bihar. The double engine NDA govt at the Centre and in Bihar is engaged in changing the picture of the state, he said. "Kosi river, which was considered synonymous with floods and disasters for years, has now been made a means of water supply and prosperity for the state by the govt through a planned strategy. The Kosi-Mechi interstate river linking project is going to be a boon for lakhs of farmers and the people of Bihar. This project is to be completed at a cost of Rs 6,282 crore. The direct impact of this historic project has started showing on the economy, irrigation and life of North Bihar," the deputy CM said. He added that the govt has set a target to complete this project by March 2029. "It will help irrigate 76,000 hectares of additional land and provide relief from the tragedy of floods," he said. Samrat said the project will change the fate of the rural areas of the state. "Not only will there be relief from floods, but farmers will have water available for irrigation throughout the year. That will increase the yield manifold," he said. Stay updated with the latest local news from your city on Times of India (TOI).
