Kaizer Chiefs' turbulent 2024/25 Premiership campaign will conclude when they take on Polokwane City at FNB Stadium on Saturday (3pm kick-off).
It's been a season filled with setbacks for the Soweto giants, but despite their struggles, a place in the top eight is still within reach going into the weekend's decisive clash.
Chiefs' MTN8 and league triumphs in the 2014/15 season ironically marked the beginning of their decline, opening the floodgates to what has become one of the club's most challenging eras.
Last season, they missed out on a top-eight finish, and failed to qualify for the MTN8 – and they'll be desperate to avoid a repeat this time around.
The league has been just as difficult this season.
The last time Amakhosi lifted the PSL title was under Stuart Baxter in that same 2014/15 season, and this year's campaign has brought little to celebrate, raising more questions than answers.

Dillan Solomons, who has seen regular action under coach Nasreddine Nabi, knows just how much is riding on Saturday's clash.
'You can categorise it as one of the biggest games this season, and it's like a cup final to us,' said Solomons.
'The last three games have been like cup finals to us.
'We know how important this game is, and we have to go in there knowing we need to get the maximum points that are available to us.'
Despite Nabi leading the side to their first piece of silverware in nearly 10 years in the Nedbank Cup, the Tunisian coach has come under scrutiny, particularly for his performances in the league since taking charge at the start of the season – including the pre-season preparations.
Solomons, who has been one of the brighter performers under the Tunisian mentor, addressed the ongoing speculation around the coach's future, stating that the players prefer to let their football do the talking.
'People have been talking, but there is nothing we can do about that,' he continued
'We just have to do what we can do, which is coming to training every day and putting in the work, and showing the coach that we are here to work.
'We can only control what we can control, and if people are going to talk outside, that is their opinion.
'We will see; we don't know what is going on.
'All we can do is come here and put in the work.'
Amakhosi head into their clash against Rise and Shine winless in eight matches, but despite their dismal league form, they have shown flashes of their true potential in cup competitions – most notably their run to the Nedbank Cup final.
That journey included impressive victories over Stellenbosch FC (3-1), Mamelodi Sundowns (2-1), and Orlando Pirates (2-1) – the current top three teams in the league.
Solomons believes the key to reversing their league fortunes lies in adopting the same mindset they've carried into knockout football.
'It's a mentality thing,' Solomons explained.
'Playing cup and league games is totally different.
'In cup games, you know you have to win, and we have to take that mentality of cup games into league games, because I think it will get better for us in that sense.
'I do not think there was any team that could compare to us in cup games because we have gone all out.
'But in the league games, it's more of a patience thing for us, and if we can use the cup mentality, it will work for us.'

Sundowns leave it late to sink Magesi

Coach Miguel Cardoso rang the changes, retaining only Ronwen Williams from the previous line-up. Mamelodi Sundowns left it late to grind out a 2-0 victory over Magesi FC in a Betway Premiership encounter at the Seshego Stadium on Wednesday night. Sundowns finally strike Jayden Adams and Peter Shalulile scored deep into the contest to steer the Brazilians past Dikwena tsa Meetse. Magesi were reduced to ten men when Lehlohonolo Mtshali received his marching orders for a second bookable offence with 11 minutes remaining. ALSO READ: US club submit multi-million rand offer for Pirates' Mofokeng – report It was far from a polished Sundowns display, but they did just enough to leave Limpopo with maximum points ahead of their eagerly anticipated MTN8 semifinal second leg against Orlando Pirates on Saturday. With that clash in mind, coach Miguel Cardoso rang the changes against Magesi, retaining only Ronwen Williams from the first leg of the Pirates match. Among the fresh faces was 19-year-old youth international Gomolemo Kekana who made his senior debut after a stellar year that included scoring the winner for Amajita in the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations final in May. Kekana's night ended at half-time, however, as he was withdrawn for Thapelo Maseko after picking up a yellow card in the opening minute. The first hour offered little in the way of attacking quality, with Sundowns struggling to impose themselves while Magesi created the better chances. Williams was forced into action to keep his side on terms, and Lehlogonolo Mokone was unlucky not to break the deadlock just before the interval when his header from a Mcedi Vandala cross rattled the upright. Cardoso looks to his bench In search of control, Cardoso turned to his bench on the hour mark, introducing Marcelo Allende, Thapelo Morena and Tashreeq Matthews for Sphelele Mkhulise, Bathusi Aubaas and Siyabonga Mabena. The changes eventually paid off as Adams pounced on a loose ball from a corner to fire home the opener in the 73rd minute. Sebelebele scorcher earns Pirates first league win of the season

Bucs moved up to 12th position while winless Stellies dropped to 14th place in the table. Orlando Pirates got their season up and running with a narrow 1-0 victory over Stellenbosch FC at the Orlando Stadium on Wednesday night. Prior to this match, the Buccaneers had lost both their opening two matches and their maiden win of the 2025/26 season moved them up to 12th position while winless Stellies dropped to 14th in the table. ALSO READ: US club submit multi-million rand offer for Pirates' Mofokeng – report Kamogelo Sebelebele's scorcher in the first half proved to be the difference between the sides. Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou made just one change to the team that started their previous game against Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8 semi-final first leg at the same venue last weekend. Patrick Maswanganyi made way for Oswin Appollis. His counterpart Steve Barker made four changes to the team that won 2-0 against Sekhukhune United in the other semi-final last weekend. As expected, the home side dominated possession and were unlucky not to take the lead in as early as the fourth minute when Appollis hit the upright with Sage Stephens well-beaten. It didn't take long though for the Buccaneers to find the opening and it was a beauty from Sebelebele who beat Stephens with a stunning long-range goal in the 16th minute. It was his second consecutive goal for Pirates after netting the equaliser in the 1-1 draw against Sundowns. Sihle Nduli, who was facing his former team for the first time, came close to doubling the lead for Pirates in the 23rd minute, but Stephens did well to parry his goal-bound shot over the crossbar for a corner kick. The Buccaneers continued to pile on the pressure on Stellies as they looked for their second goal and they almost grabbed it in the 42nd minute through Thalente Mbatha, but Stephens was well-positioned to make a save. Pirates led 1-0 at the break. Deon Hotto wasted a glorious chance to double the hosts' lead in the 57th minute when he found himself in a one-on-one situation with Stephens after he was set up by Lebone Seema, but he shot went way wide of goal. Stellies best chance of the match fell to substitute Phuti Lekoloane in the 73rd minute when he managed to outmuscle Seema before unleashing a powerful shot towards goal, but Sipho Chaine pulled off a good save to make sure that Pirates get their first league win of the season.
