Oliver Antman to Rangers transfer hampered by Celtic as Jakob Breum stance made clear by agent

The Glasgow giants are both looking to snap up wingers from the Eredivise outfit this summer Go Ahead Eagles' CEO Jan Willem van Dop had declared that the club will only sell one of Oliver Antman and Jakob Breum this summer. ‌ It comes with both Rangers showing interesting in Finnish international Antman - while Celtic have seen bids turned down for Dane Breum already this summer. ‌ A fee of around £5million has been reported for Antman after he netted seven goals and an impressive 17 assists to help fire his club to Dutch Cup glory last term. ‌ The Eagles are reported to be expecting an offer from the Scottish Premiership side for the 23-year-old. And when speaking to De Oosttribune, Van Dop insisted the club would not sell both of their key men. Asked about interest from the Glasgow giants in Breum and Antman, he responded: "Those are the guys who are in the spotlight. I think one of them will ultimately leave." The comments come after Breum's agent has told the Dutch club his client wants to join Celtic this summer. But the Scottish champions have been warned they must stump up the cash to sign the 21-year-old. ‌ The Hoops are in need of reinforcements on the flanks after Nicolas Kuhn joined Como in a £17.2million deal - while Jota is sidelined until next year. Van Dop insists the club won't sell on the cheap - having already knocked back a more substantial bid from FC Twente: "There was a question (from FC Twente), and that was about Jakob Breum. That's negotiable, but only if the price is right. "And we couldn't reach an agreement on that. What I did find positive was that his thoughts were certainly higher than the official offer Celtic ever made. ‌ "I've told Celtic that we won't be accepting their offer. I spoke to Breum's agent on the phone Monday morning, and he hopes he'll go that route. "We're certainly not the most difficult club, but it has to be a good fit. "And if we can't reach a financial agreement, we also have the right to say: well, it's not going to happen." ‌ Asked if the club had set an asking price in the region of £5.1million, he cryptically added: "We've set a ceiling." The Scottish Premiership kicks off this Saturday and there are some potentially intriguing battles at both ends of the table on the cards for the 2025-26 campaign. Although Brendan Rodgers may yet bring in reinforcements, Celtic's squad has been weakened over the summer with winger Nicolas Kuhn, who scored 13 league goals last term, Greg Taylor and Jeffrey Schlupp all leaving. Talented forward Jota is set for a long spell on the sidelines with a knee injury. Rangers, meanwhile, have been busy. Russell Martin was not every fan's first choice to be manager but he has been well backed by the club with talented EFL trio Djeidi Gassama, Theo Aasgaard and Emmanuel Fernandez all coming in, along with Bournemouth pair Max Aarons and Joe Rothwell. It could take time to bed in new players and Martin's commitment to his system is not without its faults, but Rangers have a fairly soft start to the season and should arguably be shorter than 2/1 to win the title. Dundee for drop after turbulent summer At the other end of the table, Dundee are 11/4 favourites to finish bottom and it is hard to disagree with the odds-makers. Newly promoted pair Livingston and Falkirk are also expected to be in the mix, but there are strong arguments for both to avoid finishing bottom. Crucially, Livingston have persuaded top scorer Robbie Muirhead to sign a contract extension with the club, which will significantly help their attacking output, while Falkirk have done well to keep the bulk of their squad together after back-to-back promotions. Falkirk will have their takers at 3/1 to finish bottom, but they at least have stability under manager John McGlynn. The same cannot be said for Dundee, who have endured something of a summer exodus with the likes of Scott Tiffoney, loanee Seb Palmer-Houlden and Jordan McGhee departing along with key young midfielder Lyall Cameron. That quartet bagged 24 league goals between them last season, so new boss Steven Pressley could be up against it. Yamada can make striking impact Hearts ace Lawrence Shankland will stand out to many in the Scottish Premiership top goalscorer market at 9/2, but the value in backing him is arguably gone. The composition of the Celtic and Rangers attacks are not set in stone, so going for an outsider could be the way to go and Shin Yamada makes each-way appeal at 16/1. Striker Yamada is a new addition for Celtic, joining from Kawasaki Frontale, where he scored 28 goals in 58 league appearances in the 2024 and 2025 seasons. It could take time for Yamada to adapt, but he joins compatriots Reo Hatate, Daizen Maeda and Hayato Inamura at Celtic, so should feel comfortable and he has already looked sharp in pre-season.

Three emerging Celtic transfer headlines as Ambrosino gets second chance and Hoops 'lead' chasing pack for Man City kid

Brendan Rodgers is desperate to bolster his ranks even further ahead of the coming season Reported Celtic target Giuseppe Ambrosino is set to be handed another chance by Napoli. ‌ The Italy U21 star was linked with a move to the Hoops earlier this month after catching the eye on duty for his country at the European Championships in Slovakia. ‌ The striker spent the whole of last season on loan at Frosinone in Serie B and with just 12 months remaining on his contract, has an uncertain future with the Scudetto winners. ‌ Ambrosino's chances of forcing his way into Antonio Conte's plans were plunged into further doubt when he was left out on a training camp trip to Dimaro in the north of Italy. But it's now being claimed that the 21-year-old is set to be given a lifeline at Napoli. According to Il Corriere del Mezzogiorno (via the forward will be included in the squad that travel to Castel di Sangro in the heart of the Apennine Mountains for another training camp ahead of the new season. Napoli kick off the defence of their Serie A crown with a trip to Sassuolo on August 23. Meanwhile, Celtic are now said to be leading the race to sign Manchester City youngster Jahmai Simpson-Pusey on loan. The champions' interest in the 19-year-old has emerged in recent days and the Manchester Evening News now report that Brendan Rodgers' side are confident of pipping clubs in England's second tier to bring the defender north of the border. ‌ Simpson-Pusey has made six first team appearances in total for Pep Guardiola's Etihad giants, including two outings in the Champions League. Another player who is reportedly Celtic's radar is Go Ahead Eagles' Danish winger Jakob Breum. ‌ The Hoops are alleged to have seen a bid of £1.5million knocked back by the Eredivisie club and their technical director Jan Willem van Dop has now gone public with details of the bid. Fellow Dutch outfit FC Twente are also very keen on the player. Speaking to Oosttribune, van Dop said: "Well, obviously that's something to talk about if the price is right. "And we didn't get out of that. What to me was the only positive of that was, that they (Twente) offered at least already above the official offer that was ever made by Celtic. 'Because that was one and a half million. So his thinking was higher. "I at least indicated that we did not go along with the bid that they made. And coincidentally this morning, obviously we still had the agent on the line who hopes that he will go that way. "And we are, I think, really not the hardest club, but it has to fit. And if we don't come out of it financially better, we also have that that right, I think, to then say, 'Well, then it's not going to happen.'"
