Michigan man arrested following $1.2M Corvette heist after 8 luxury cars go missing from Kentucky plant
Deantae Walker, of Westland, Michigan, was taken into custody Saturday in Bowling Green, Kentucky, on charges of evading police, resisting arrest, receiving stolen property, and criminal mischief.
Authorities allege that Walker and another man were involved in the theft of eight Corvettes from the General Motors plant in Bowling Green. The other man fled in a Jeep with Ohio license plates, according to authorities.
Bowling Green police said it was alerted to the theft by the Warren County Sheriff's Office. Deputies were called to an apartment complex after a woman reported seeing a man driving a red Corvette with the price sticker still on it, the incident report says.
The woman said the man got out of the vehicle and ran toward the front of the apartment complex.
The manager of the General Motors plant confirmed that the vehicle was from their lot. A second Corvette was found parked at the same apartment complex, and a third was found nearby.
The manager told authorities that eight vehicles were missing from the plant's back lot. Authorities began searching for the other vehicles.
The incident report says that a security camera from an apartment captured three vehicles coming into the complex. A man was seen in the footage exiting a light gray Corvette.
"The male was wearing a green pullover sweatshirt with a red shirt under it. He had gray sweatpants and kept his hood on the entire time," the report says. "The male then walked to the front of the complex and was seen coming back. He then went to the left of the front building."
As deputies continued to investigate, dispatch received a call from a transport driver who said he had a "weird" interaction with two men who wanted him to take Corvettes to Michigan. The driver said the men were rushing him as he loaded the vehicles, and the cars were damaged on the bottom.

Lisa Walker-Yeager, who is running for two local government seats in Wyandotte County, posted on Facebook last week to defend herself as she faced criminal charges. The community leader insisted she opened fire last October to protect her daughter during a heated payment dispute with builder Noble Bey. Walker-Yeager has been charged with aggravated battery and unlawfully discharging a weapon inside city limits. She admitted she shot Bey but maintained she did so to save her daughter, Vern'e McClelland, during an aggressive confrontation at her home. Bey, she claimed in court, was furious after being handed a $350 check when he had expected $410 for his work. During a hearing on Thursday, Walker-Yeager and her daughter testified that Bey beat McClelland in anger. A video played in court showed Bey loudly voicing his frustration over the shortfall, reported the Kansas City Star. On Friday evening, Walker-Yeager posted a statement on social media saying it was important for her to be transparent with voters. 'The incident that occurred was an act of protection for my child. That's the key thing, it's not the guns, it's the person. 'And until we realize that and understand that, that is a key thing. I have never been convicted, but I will say that I have stood up to protect my family.' Court records show Walker-Yeager has been sued six times over money disputes, resulting in five judgments against her. The largest judgment was more than $17,000. Despite her legal troubles, she remains on the ballot for the November election unless she is convicted of a felony. 'I love you Wyandotte, and I refuse to let these challenges that are being used against me stop me from fighting for you and your families!' she declared. Judge Michael A. Russell has ordered attorneys to submit findings and conclusions by September 12. He will then decide whether to grant Walker-Yeager immunity on the basis of self defense.

A police spokesperson said yesterday: "A man has been arrested at Arrowe Park Hospital today, Sunday 17 August. Just after 4pm armed officers were at the scene and detained a man. A 42-year-old man formerly from Liverpool has been arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm." "No firearm has been found at this time, however police officers are still at the scene carrying out enquiries and there is no risk to the public. Visitors can still access the hospital." Police today told The Mirror the man had been released with enquiries ongoing.
