Michigan man arrested following $1.2M Corvette heist after 8 luxury cars go missing from Kentucky plant
Deantae Walker, of Westland, Michigan, was taken into custody Saturday in Bowling Green, Kentucky, on charges of evading police, resisting arrest, receiving stolen property, and criminal mischief.
Authorities allege that Walker and another man were involved in the theft of eight Corvettes from the General Motors plant in Bowling Green. The other man fled in a Jeep with Ohio license plates, according to authorities.
Bowling Green police said it was alerted to the theft by the Warren County Sheriff's Office. Deputies were called to an apartment complex after a woman reported seeing a man driving a red Corvette with the price sticker still on it, the incident report says.
The woman said the man got out of the vehicle and ran toward the front of the apartment complex.
The manager of the General Motors plant confirmed that the vehicle was from their lot. A second Corvette was found parked at the same apartment complex, and a third was found nearby.
The manager told authorities that eight vehicles were missing from the plant's back lot. Authorities began searching for the other vehicles.
The incident report says that a security camera from an apartment captured three vehicles coming into the complex. A man was seen in the footage exiting a light gray Corvette.
"The male was wearing a green pullover sweatshirt with a red shirt under it. He had gray sweatpants and kept his hood on the entire time," the report says. "The male then walked to the front of the complex and was seen coming back. He then went to the left of the front building."
As deputies continued to investigate, dispatch received a call from a transport driver who said he had a "weird" interaction with two men who wanted him to take Corvettes to Michigan. The driver said the men were rushing him as he loaded the vehicles, and the cars were damaged on the bottom.

Tragedy on the Welsh mountains as man, 36, plunges to his death from knife-edge ridge
Tragedy has hit the Welsh mountains after a man plunged to his death from a knife-edge ridge. The walker, 36, fell off Crib Goch, a notoriously dangerous Mount Snowdon precipice on the approach to Yr Wyddfa, on Saturday morning. North Wales Police and the Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team rushed to the location by helicopter but pronounced the man dead at the scene. A spokesperson for the force said: 'We are saddened to confirm that a 36-year-old man has died following a fall from Crib Goch in Eryri National Park on Saturday, 16 August. 'Emergency services, including North Wales Police and the Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team, responded to reports of a man falling from the ridge at approximately 11:30am. 'The man was recovered from the mountain by helicopter but was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene. 'Formal identification has not yet taken place, but the man's next of kin have been informed, and the coroner has been notified.' Inspector Jamie Owens added: 'My deepest condolences remain with the man's family at this incredibly difficult time. Our investigation into the circumstances of this tragic incident is ongoing.' It comes after a man with a broken wrist spent an hour trying in vain to save his hospital doctor friend after she fell 30ft from a spot nearby. Dr Charlotte Crook, 31, and her colleague Adam Weatherhogg had been walking in Snowdonia on February 16 when Ms Crook slipped and plunged off a grassy ledge. Senior coroner John Gittins praised the 'amazing efforts' that Mr Weatherhogg made as he carried out chest compressions in a bid to help Dr Crook, of Perry Barr, Birmingham. Her parents described the hills and mountains as their only child's 'happy place'. She had a 'passion for exploration of the great outdoors'. Dr Crook was an experienced walker but died from a head injury last February on Glyder Fach. The Ruthin hearing was told that she had been descending when she slipped. The tragedy was a 'conspiracy of all matters at that time, weather, route and loss of footing'. The coroner recorded a conclusion of accidental death. It comes after a man with a broken wrist spent an hour trying in vain to save Dr Charlotte Crook, pictured, his hospital doctor friend, after she fell 30ft from a spot nearby In June, friends of an extreme sports enthusiast who tragically fell 60ft to her death from one of a 3,000ft Snowdonia peak revealed they watched in horror as she went 'tumbling through the air'. Influencer Maria Eftimova, 28, who friends said had an 'insatiable thirst for life and exploring our world's beauty', joined a Facebook group who went hiking up a 3,000ft Snowdonia peak. The thrill-seeker - who had more than 10,000 followers on social media - was an experienced climber who had recently completed an ice-climbing course in Norway. But tragically the engineering student lost her footing when her heel slipped while scrambling up Tryfan on February 22. Neil Oakes, who was among a group of about 18 on the peak when the party split in two, said he had been ahead of Ms Eftimova and turned around to check on his companions. 'I turned around again and saw Maria tumbling through the air below me,' he said in a statement to the inquest. 'I knew there was going to be an impact. I was shouting "No,no,no!" 'When I turned back she had hit the ledge below.' North West Wales senior coroner Kate Robertson told the hearing in Caernarfon: 'Very sadly it seems Maria was scrambling with others when she's unintentionally and unexpectedly fallen. 'During the course of that fall, she has sustained the injuries which have sadly led to her death. 'That fall was entirely accidental.' She concluded that Ms Eftimova's death had been an accident. In October, a banker who fell to his death while hiking in Snowdonia told friends he 'could do with some help' as he struggled to descend the 300 foot Tryfan peak. Banker Sam Caley, 49, shouted to his friends: 'I don't know how I got here. I don't know if I can find my way back' after he had separated from his group to find a different route down the mountain. At the inquest in Ruthin the assistant coroner for North Wales East and Central Kate Robertson read a statement from one of his friends, Tony Clarke, in which he described the problems they faced while descending the peak. The four friends arrived in North Wales on June 7, intending to stay two nights, and that afternoon set off up Tryfan, one of the most recognisable peaks in Snowdonia. One of them turned back because he found it too physically demanding, but the other three made it to the summit, where they rested. Mr Caley, a 49-year-old from Beaconsfield in Buckinghamshire and a programme director at Deutsche Bank, was an experienced hiker, but while Clarke and the third member of the group, Adriaan Commander headed down the path towards the Heather Terrace he followed a parallel path. In his statement Clarke said he shouted at Caley to come back to them but he may not have heard. 'We told him to retrace his steps but he was reluctant,' he said. The two lost sight of him but heard him say: 'I could do with some help here guys.' Clarke described how he then saw his friend falling and he tried to see where he had landed. An off-duty paramedic who was a qualified mountain guide went to their assistance and the Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Team was called out. 'Adriaan and I were in shock,' said Clarke. Caley was declared dead at the scene, having suffered head injuries. The coroner recorded a conclusion of accidental death.

Aspiring lawmaker says her decision to SHOOT builder and embarrassing financial scandals make her perfect for office
A political candidate in Kansas has claimed that shooting a contractor and facing financial scandals are exactly what qualify her to hold public office. Lisa Walker-Yeager, who is running for two local government seats in Wyandotte County, posted on Facebook last week to defend herself as she faced criminal charges. The community leader insisted she opened fire last October to protect her daughter during a heated payment dispute with builder Noble Bey. Walker-Yeager has been charged with aggravated battery and unlawfully discharging a weapon inside city limits. She admitted she shot Bey but maintained she did so to save her daughter, Vern'e McClelland, during an aggressive confrontation at her home. Bey, she claimed in court, was furious after being handed a $350 check when he had expected $410 for his work. During a hearing on Thursday, Walker-Yeager and her daughter testified that Bey beat McClelland in anger. A video played in court showed Bey loudly voicing his frustration over the shortfall, reported the Kansas City Star. On Friday evening, Walker-Yeager posted a statement on social media saying it was important for her to be transparent with voters. 'The incident that occurred was an act of protection for my child. I'll leave it at that,' she wrote. 'If you are a parent, I know this will resonate with you because I believe you would protect your children at all costs.' The candidate also addressed her financial record, which includes lawsuits and judgments against her over unpaid debts. 'You and I both know we in Wyandotte have an uphill battle to fight when it comes (to) financial prosperity,' Walker-Yeager wrote. 'I truly believe my past financial challenges are what qualify me for these positions. Because I understand, I've been in your shoes when it comes to financial challenges.' During a campaign event last month, Walker-Yeager was asked whether she had ever been arrested and how gun violence has affected neighborhoods. 'I think gun violence has affected our neighborhoods,' she said at the meeting, according to local news outlet KMBC. 'But I also think guns in the wrong hands have affected our neighborhoods. That's the key thing, it's not the guns, it's the person. 'And until we realize that and understand that, that is a key thing. I have never been convicted, but I will say that I have stood up to protect my family.' Court records show Walker-Yeager has been sued six times over money disputes, resulting in five judgments against her. The largest judgment was more than $17,000. Despite her legal troubles, she remains on the ballot for the November election unless she is convicted of a felony. 'I love you Wyandotte, and I refuse to let these challenges that are being used against me stop me from fighting for you and your families!' she declared. Judge Michael A. Russell has ordered attorneys to submit findings and conclusions by September 12. He will then decide whether to grant Walker-Yeager immunity on the basis of self defense.

Sam Walker 'arrested as armed cops storm hospital during birth of his child'
Social media influencer Sam Walker claims he was arrested by armed police in hospital while his child was being born - then forced to spend four hours in a police cell before being released A man claims he was detained by armed police in hospital while his child was being born. Merseyside Police confirmed officers attended Arrowe Park Hospital in Wirral just after 4pm on Sunday and arrested a 42-year-old on suspicion of possession of a firearm. TikToker Sam Walker later announced to his 138,000 followers that it was he who was detained and forced to spend four hours in a police cell before being released. "These trolls had armed police charging into the hospital pointing submachine guns at my head, coming straight into the room pointing them at my head," Walker said. "The police were only doing their job from what they were told and heard they had received a phone call from someone who had said to them 'there's going to be a shoot out'," he added. "Now, they have that person's voice so I told police to please check it out and track this person down because they need to be in prison. The police are checking that out and they only had me in the prison cell for four hours and then they released me." Liverpool Echo reports in a previous TikTok post, Walker said: "So many lies from people wanting views off the back of my name. Trolls have stooped to a new low. Ringing [a] hospital [where] there's a bunch of innocent women and men with new born babies making lies up saying there's a firearm there is as low as it gets. "Trolls and clout chasers are as low as it gets. To make lies up to get at me is as low as it gets when it affects innocent mums and dads with new babies." A police spokesperson said yesterday: "A man has been arrested at Arrowe Park Hospital today, Sunday 17 August. Just after 4pm armed officers were at the scene and detained a man. A 42-year-old man formerly from Liverpool has been arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm." "No firearm has been found at this time, however police officers are still at the scene carrying out enquiries and there is no risk to the public. Visitors can still access the hospital." Police today told The Mirror the man had been released with enquiries ongoing.
