Pirates news: Zimbabwean striker and 19-year-old defender

Orlando Pirates are eyeing some serious prodigies, namely Zimbabwean midfielder Prince Ndlovu and fellow 19-year-old Neo Rapoo.
'Highlanders FC value Prince (Ndlovu) and that's why they are pricing him at around R15million,' a source revealed.
'For now this price is believed to be directed at South African team Orlando Pirates because apparently they are the ones who have enquired about his services. Highlanders believe it's a fair price looking at his talent, quality and future ahead of him.'
SuperSport United left-back Rapoo shun bright on an otherwise underwhelming side that narrowly missed the relegation playoffs. Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs are both interested, insinuating a move to be inevitable.
'Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs are both keen to sign SuperSport United left-back Neo Rapoo ahead of the new season,' an inside source revealed.
'His performances as he led South Africa U20 to the Africa Cup of Nations title earned him interest in Scandinavia and the Gulf but sources as Matsatsansa have confirmed Chiefs and Pirates are both seriously after the player who is seen as future senior national team left-back.'
'With Orlando Pirates having released Paseka Mako and the retirement of Innocent Maela, their interest on the promising full-back comes as no surprise, while Chiefs are looking to remedy a position that has plagued them in the last couple of seasons.'

Orlando Pirates first pre-season friendly in Spain confirmed

Orlando Pirates' first pre-season friendly in Spain for their new season's preparations has been confirmed. The Buccaneers will face English League One outfit Bolton Wanderers in one of their friendly matches that side. This encounter against Bolton Wanderers will take place on Friday, July 11 at the Marbella Football Centre, the English club confirmed in a statement. Kick-off is at 11 SA time. Bolton Wanderers are the same team that saw two Bafana Bafana legends in Mark Fish and Quinton Fortune play for. The South African reported a few weeks ago that Pirates will be returning to Spain for the third year in a row. Pirates first had an experience of Spanish facilities in 2023 under Jose Riveiro and again in 2024 under the same coach. And it came as no surprise given that Riveiro wanted to, at least, spend some time with his family during the off-season. Now, it appears the entire Pirates hierarchy is pleased with the rewards reaped by the team from spending time in Spain. Meanwhile, it remains a mystery as to who their head coach will be for the upcoming season but Mandla Ncikazi remains in charge on an interim basis.
