Gujarat: JMC drive underway, 331 structures to be demolished
Jamnagar Municipal Corporation (JMC) on Saturday started an exercise to remove encroachment on a road, which is part of the city's Development Plan (DP). The exercise continued on Sunday and is likely to be carried out for the next two days. In all, 331 structures will be demolished.
As per JMC Municipal Commissioner D N Modi, the DP road connects Swaminarayan Nagar with Gandhinagar. Modi said that residential and commercial encroachments were erected over the years on the DP road, which was originally 30-metre-wide. He added that to ensure that less number of units are demolished, the width has been kept at 12 metre.
'In all, 331 encroachments will be removed — some entirely, some partially,' Modi said.
'We started the exercise yesterday (Saturday) and it will go on for two more days,' he added.
The Commissioner also said that on the first day, some local elected representatives, who had protested, were detained.

But, better late than PM will inaugurate the Vande Bharat services and it will benefit highway gets blocked, the airlines start selling tickets of ₹ 5,000 for ₹ 20,000, such issues will be solved from now on." "This project has set many records. The Chenab Bridge is higher than the Eiffel Tower. Anji Khad Bridge is the longest cable-stayed railway bridge in the country. There are many tunnels between Katra and Banihal. The project will be boost for economy and tourism. Now it will take 4 hours from Srinagar to Katra. We will ensure successful Amarnath Yatra," he added. The world's tallest railway bridge, Chenab Bridge, stands 359 meters above mean sea level. It will connect Jammu and Srinagar. At an estimated cost of over ₹ 43,000 crore, the USBRL project involved laying out ballastless tracks over bridges and tunnels, spanning deep gorges. Ninety per cent of the route was traversed over 943 bridges and 36 main tunnels, including India's longest railway tunnel, T-50, which stretched more than 12.7 km. Also, on the Katra-Banihal section, the Vande Bharat train will also traverse another engineering marvel: the Anji Khad bridge, India's first cable-stayed bridge. Supported by 96 cables, the 725-meter-long bridge stands 331 meters above mean sea level.

Saudi Arabia: Indian pilgrims perform Wuquf-e-Arafat
Riyadh [Saudi Arabia], June 5 (ANI): Indian pilgrims joined millions of others in Saudi Arabia today to perform Wuquf-e-Arafat, the core ritual of Hajj pilgrimage, the Embassy of India in Riyadh shared on Thursday. The Indian Embassy wrote on X, 'Indian pilgrims join millions of other pilgrims today at Arafat to perform Wuquf-e-Arafat, the core ritual of Haj.' In a video message, Consul General Fahad Suri said, 'On this blessed day of Arafat, I extend my heartfelt greetings and best wishes to all the pilgrims gathered in Arafat, the pinnacle of the Hajj journey. These five sacred days spent in Meena, Arafat and Muzalifa are a time of deep reflection and devotion and form the core elements of Hajj. I am pleased to share that all pilgrims from India have safely arrived in Arafat and are currently engaged in prayers and supplications. "India today speaks with strength, not submission": Assam CM hits back at Rahul Gandhi's "surrender" remarks on PM
New Delhi [India], June 5 (ANI): Launching a scathing attack on Congress MP Rahul Gandhi over his 'surrender' remarks on PM Modi, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday slammed Congress, accusing it of surrendering India's pride, security, and sovereignty over historical dates from losing PoK and Aksai Chin. In a long post on X, CM Himanta, citing Prime Minister Modi's strong response through Uri, Balakot, and Galwan, said that 'India today speaks with strength, not submission.' 'Rahul Gandhi has the audacity to mock the Hon'ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi as 'Surrender Modi' despite the massive success of #OperationSindoor. Let's jog his memory as to which party and family has surrendered India's interest and territory, and backstabbed the people with their treachery,' he said. 'It was Pandit Nehru who rushed to the United Nations during the Kashmir conflict, halted our advancing Army, and gifted away what we now call Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. A military victory sacrificed at the altar of global appeasement,' CM Sarma said. Attacking the Congress over Aksai Chin, the Assam CM said that 38,000 sq km of Indian territory was handed over without firing a bullet. 'Nehru's only response when China threatened Assam? Was this statesmanship or surrender @RahulGandhi? Assam was nearly cut off. The entire Northeast was abandoned to fate,' Himanta Biswa Sarma said. Further, CM Sarma said that former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had 93,000 Pakistani soldiers in custody during the 1971 war, the moment, he said, could be used to take back PoK. Even in 1962, Nehru was ready to abandon Assam to the Chinese,' he said. Praising Prime Minister Modi's leadership, the Assam CM said that those 'dark days are over'. 'Under PM Narendra Modi, India doesn't plead. We act in Uri, we strike in Balakot, we stand our ground in Galwan, and we lead globally. From military to diplomacy, from economy to national security, India today speaks with strength, not submission. Congress must stop projecting its own history of cowardice onto the shoulders of a leader who refuses to bend. India remembers. India has risen. And India won't surrender again,' CM Himanta said on X. This comes after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi attacked the BJP-led government on Tuesday over allegations of mediation by the United States in Operation Sindoor. He alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi 'followed' Donald Trump following a call by the US leader and that the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi did not budge to the US in the 1971 war. Addressing a convention of Congress workers in Bhopal, LoP Rahul Gandhi said, 'Now, I understand RSS-BJP well. They run away out of fear if slight pressure is put on them. When Trump called Modiji- Modiji kya kar rahe ho, Narender-Surrender and with 'ji hazooor', Narenderji followed Trump. In the 1971 war, the Seventh Fleet (which came from the US), India Gandhi said I will do whatever I have to do. This is the difference. This is their character; all of them are like this.
