Pahalgam terror attack a cowardly act: Uttam
Recalling his service as a fighter pilot in the Indian Air Force, Uttam Kumar Reddy said, 'I have served at Avantipur Air Force Station near Srinagar, in Leh-Ladakh, and was part of the air defence operations in the Siachen Glacier. I understand the ground realities. This attack was carried out with the intention of creating a Hindu-Muslim divide, to hurt Kashmir's economy, and to create unrest and damage our country.'
He praised the Muslim community of Kashmir for standing united against terrorism. 'I particularly appreciate the Kashmiri Muslims who, in one united voice, condemned the terrorist attack in Pahalgam,' he said.
Calling for strong action, Uttam Kumar Reddy added, 'Those responsible for this act, and those who supported it directly or indirectly, must be severely punished. This is not just an attack on a region – it is an attack on India's unity.'
He further stated that the Congress Working Committee (CWC) had passed a resolution condemning the attack and reaffirming the call for national unity. 'India must stand united in such moments. This is not the time for division but for solidarity,' Uttam Kumar Reddy emphasised.

‘We have to raise voice against forces continuing with defaming Dharmasthala'
Former Muzrai Minister B. Nagaraj Shetty on Wednesday called upon people to raise their voice against forces that continue to defame Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara temple and pattadhikari of Sri Kshetra Dharmastala D. Veerendra Heggade. Talking at the 'Janagraha Sabhe' of the Dharmasthala Dharma Raksha Vedike in Bantwal, Mr. Shetty said concerted efforts were being made by a group to denigrate Hindu religious places. Forces have tried to denigrate many temples. The temple and the pattadhikari have involved in many benevolent and social empowerment activities and unfortunately they were being targeted by some vested forces, using the ongoing probe by Special Investigation Team into the complaint of mass burial of bodies in Dharmasthala. Raising questions over the way the SIT was investigating into the mass burial issue, BJP leader Harikrishna Bantwal said the SIT has so far not asked the complainant about the place from where skeletal remains, which the latter produced before the magistrate at the time of recording his voluntary statement, were brought. Former MLA Rukmayya Poojari and BJP leader Ramdas Bantwal also spoke. Orator Chakravati Sulibele and activist Vasanth Giliyar took part in the 'Dharma Jagruti Sabhe' of Punyakshetra Samrakshana Samiti in the Shri Rama Bhajana Mandira in Malpe, Udupi. While asking the State government not to bow down to pressure and pro-people organisations, they asked the government to allow SIT to do a comprehensive investigation into the complaint. The statement was issued after members of the organisations held a roundtable discussion in Mangaluru. Apart from mass burial issue, the State government should ensure a proper inquiry into deaths of teacher Vedavalli in 1979, PU student Padmalatha in 1986, of deaths of siblings Narayan and Yamuna in 2012, and reinvestigation of Soujanya rape and murder case of 2013, the organisations said in the statement.

A group of lawmakers came together at a common platform on Wednesday to launch the Artificial Intelligence Legislators' Forum, an initiative designed to equip Members of Parliament (MPs) and Members of Legislative Assemblies (MLAs) with the knowledge, tools, and networks to shape India's tech policy landscape. The Artificial Intelligence Legislators' Forum (AILF) brings together lawmakers, technologists, and policy experts to shape responsible AI governance and fosters informed dialogue on ethical frameworks, regulatory gaps, and emerging AI challenges, said Future Shift Labs, a think tank working on emerging tech, international affairs and governance. Members of Parliament Sujeet Kumar, Shashank Mani, Rabindra Narayan Behera, and Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu attended the launch at the Constitution Club in the national capital. 'We need a humanistic AI that can reach anywhere and to everyone. The market should be decentralised, where AI is in the hands of everyone and anyone with options and not domination,' Shashank Mani said at the launch. Mani is a Bharatiya Janata Party MP in Lok Sabha representing Deoria in Uttar Pradesh. According to the organisation behind the idea, AILF empowers legislators with insights to craft inclusive, future-ready laws that balance innovation with accountability in an increasingly AI-driven world. Rabindra Narayan Behera, the BJP MP from Jajpur seat, spoke about AI and its connection with Hindu mythology. Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu, the TDP MP in Lok Sabha, spoke about technology used in agriculture in Andhra Pradesh, where the TDP is the ruling party under Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. Sujeet Kumar, the BJP MP in Rajya Sabha, spoke about the flip sides of AI. We need a humanistic AI that can reach anywhere and to everyone. The market should be decentralised, where AI is in the hands of everyone and anyone with options and not domination. As AI increasingly influences public service delivery, economic growth, and democratic processes, the Forum seeks to bridge a critical gap between India's rapidly advancing AI ecosystem and its legislative preparedness, said Sagar is the Director and co-founder of Future Shift Labs.
