M.P. farmers to be excluded from CM Kisan Kalyan Scheme if they resort to stubble burning
Farmers in Madhya Pradesh who engage in stubble burning will not receive benefits under the CM Kisan Kalyan Scheme and their crops will not be purchased at the minimum support price (MSP), Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has said.
The decision was taken on Thursday at a Revenue department review meet chaired by Mr. Yadav, who said that the guidelines would be implemented from May 1.
'The growing practice of burning crop residue (narwai) after harvest is causing severe environmental damage, including air pollution and degradation of soil quality. Burning stubble destroys essential nutrients in the soil, reducing its fertility. The State government has already banned the stubble burning. Despite this, if any farmer is found burning narwai, they will be denied the benefits under the Chief Minister Kisan Kalyan Yojana,' a government statement said, quoting Mr. Yadav.
'Additionally, their crops will not be procured at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) during the following year,' it read.
The eligible farmers of the State receive monetary assistance of ₹6,000 every year from the State government as part of the Kisan Kalyan Scheme started in 2020. There are about 85 lakh farmers benefiting from the scheme as of March as per government data.
Madhya Pradesh has reported the highest instances of stubble in the country in 2025 with 24,953 cases of fire reported from April 1 to 24, as per the Consortium for Research on Agroecosystem Monitoring and Modeling from Space (CREAMS), a research body of the Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi.
Against M.P.'s nearly 25,000 cases, the second ranked Uttar Pradesh has reported 6,895 instances of residue burning, followed by Haryana, Punjab, and Delhi.
Authorities in Madhya Pradesh have been keeping a vigil to reduce the numbers with farmers being fined and booked across the State.
Indore District Collector said that 102 farmers had been booked in a single day on April 16 while penalties amounting to ₹3.09 lakh had been imposed across the district.

They also sought complete loan forgiveness and fulfillment of government promises made during earlier protests, including doubling their incomes and protection against exploitation by large corporations. Delhi minister denies Congress's claim of zoo privatisation
Union environment minister Bhupender Yadav on Saturday dismissed Congress leader Jairam Ramesh's concerns over a planned Memorandum of Understanding between the Delhi zoo and Gujarat's Greens Zoological Rescue And Rehabilitation Centre (also called Vantara), and said that such collaborations are a 'routine exercise' aimed at improving conservation efforts, scientific research, and animal welfare. On June 4, after officials at the zoo announced upgradation works and plans to sign the MoU with Vantara, Ramesh in a social media post said the step hinted towards privatisation. Yadav hit back on Saturday, stating that 'some people have made it a habit to create doubts in the mind of the public at every instance.' 'Zoological parks enter into collaborative MoUs with other zoos, universities and scientific institutions for enhancement of conservation efforts, scientific research, education and capacity building, resource sharing and animal welfare, etc. The Central Zoo Authority also enters into collaborations,' Yadav said in a post on X. He added than an MoU between GZRRC and the Delhi zoo (National Zoological Park) was first signed in January 2021. 'This MoU is focused on exchange of animals, capacity building of animal keepers, technical exchanges on scientific management of animals and sharing knowledge on conservation breeding and education,' Yadav said, The Delhi zoo, a 60-year-old institution, has gained substantial expertise in breeding and the care of many endangered species, he claimed. '..we are now aiming to modernise its facilities and services by adopting best practices of animal welfare in captivity as well as enhanced visitor experience on par with world class zoo,' Yadav said, and clarified that the Delhi Zoo has simply sought to revise its existing MoU with GZRRC. The proposed MoU aims to foster collaboration in wildlife conservation, rescue, rehabilitation, animal health, and welfare. Key areas of cooperation include support for veterinary care and allied services, exchange of best practices in captive management of endangered species, and technical assistance in zoo planning… and potential animal exchanges, he said, stating enhanced visitor focus was also another key focus area. Yadav added the Delhi zoo had signed MoUs with other expert organisations too, with a similar goal in mind. 'We will continue to do so,' he added. Renting Aadhaar logins, manipulating data: How hackers ‘helped' job aspirants cheat
The Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister has directed the strictest possible action following revelations of a sophisticated cyber fraud that exploited the Aadhaar update system during the Police Constable Recruitment Exam-2023. In a statement, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said: 'Such criminal acts, which cause injustice to deserving candidates, will not be tolerated in Madhya Pradesh. Taking suo motu cognizance, the Police Headquarters is conducting a thorough examination of biometric data and Aadhaar history of all successful candidates. In cases where impersonation is found at first glance, criminal cases have been registered against the candidates and strict action is being ensured.' The directive comes as investigators have allegedly uncovered an interstate network spanning multiple states that manipulated biometric data to help unqualified candidates fraudulently pass the recruitment examination. According to sources, the investigation has allegedly revealed that the organised gang rented login IDs of several Aadhaar centre agents. They also indicate the gang cloned agents' retina and biometric data that served as passwords for these IDs, with one agent having his ID rented for Rs 3,000 per month. Inspector General of Police (Law and Order) Anshuman Singh said that during investigation, it was also found that some Aadhaar card vendors uploaded requests for biometric changes to the Aadhaar system without proper verification. 'The accused candidates exploited this lapse to commit the crime,' he said. The sophisticated operation allegedly utilised remote access applications to control candidates' systems from Delhi while updating their Aadhaar with the gang's own biometric data. After examinations concluded, the IDs were changed back to their original state, allowing imposters known as 'solvers' to be sent to exam centres with altered identities. The gang updated biometric data in candidates' Aadhaar cards before the exam and altered it again afterward. Police said the irregularities were first detected in November 2024 when documents of five candidates in Morena raised suspicions during the Physical Proficiency Test. This discovery prompted the police headquarters to issue directives on April 21, 2025, requiring re-verification of biometric and Aadhaar history for all selected candidates during character verification and appointment phases. The probe has led to the registration of 21 cases against 22 candidates across multiple districts, with seven cases in Morena, six in Shivpuri, two in Sheopur, and one each in Indore, Datia, Gwalior, Alirajpur, Rajgarh, and Shahdol.
