Thomas Partey drops major hint about Arsenal future with midfielder's contract set to expire and Mikel Arteta's side nearing a move for £51m Martin Zubimendi
Thomas Partey has issued a clear update on his Arsenal future amid ongoing speculation that he will leave the Emirates.
The Ghanaian has been at Arsenal since 2020 and played an integral role in Mikel Arteta 's side last season.
Both Arteta and the midfielder are keen to extend his stay but his contract expires at the end of the month and he is yet to renew his deal.
Arsenal look set to secure a £51million deal for Real Sociedad's Martin Zubimendi, who is being touted as a replacement for Partey.
While Arsenal announced their released list last week, Partey was among three players who they said were still having deals negotiated.
And the 31-year-old has revealed that his family will be the decisive factor when making a decision on his future.
Asked if Arsenal's Zubimendi interest was impacting his decision, he told 3Sports: 'I think the first thing is where are you happy and where do you feel at home. At the end of the day you've been in football, you've been in different teams.
'Then it's about what is your next objective what do you want to achieve next. You still have to look at all this and at the end of the day we all have a family that needs money, this is our mind.
'We are not getting younger. There are a lot of things where you have to look now with a family, where you want them to be happy. When you are young you just play anywhere.
'I'm an Arsenal fan, I can't decide anything and just have to leave it to my agent and the club. Me, I just want to enjoy football.'
Partey played in all but three of Arsenal's Premier League fixtures last season, scoring four goals and claiming two assists, as they came second for the third consecutive campaign.
Asked if last season represented the best form of his career, he said: 'I think they will say about the availability because I was available throughout the whole season so of course they will say that.'
'Every moment, every year or every time in training there I feel I've been in my best because I can't count how many games I was not giving all my best.
'Sometimes it may go bad but every game I go all out and try to give my best. I feel happy in me, every year injury or no injury which is part of it I have given my best.'
Since joining Arsenal for £50m, Partey has made 130 league appearances, scoring nine goals.
Last week Arsenal released 20 players including Jorginho, Raheem Sterling and Kieran Tierney.

Ex-Arsenal and Barcelona legend is leading candidate to become Arne Slot's No 2 at Liverpool after Reds lost John Heitinga to Ajax
Former Arsenal and Barcelona star Giovanni van Bronckhorst is a leading candidate to join Arne Slot's staff following departure of Johnny Heitinga to Ajax. Van Bronckhorst, 50, who has managed Feyenoord, Rangers and Besiktas, was sacked by the Turkish club in November last year. He could now join the Premier League champions on Arne Slot's backroom staff. Van Bronckhorst's playing career was a decorated one, with the winning a Premier League title at Arsenal, two La Liga crowns at Barcelona and also a Champions League. South Africa's MultiChoice may offer separate SuperSport package from Dstv
JOHANNESBURG, June 12 (Reuters) - South Africa's pay television group MultiChoice may unbundle its sports channels into a separate subscription package, its CEO said on Thursday, a move that might help it retain subscribers. Presenting the group's results a day after reporting a headline loss of 800 million rand ($45 million), CEO Calvo Mawela was asked whether the company was considering separating its sport channels into a separate package. "As part of our product offering, we have always had this project that we ran every year where we look at our packaging structures, similar to what Sky did some years back where they had a basic package, they had a sports package on the side (and) they had a general entertainment package on the side," Mawela said. Through its pay TV, Dstv, MultiChoice offers bundled packages from entry level to premium, which has all the sport channels under its SuperSport brand. But some customers subscribe to the premium package only for sports, often making it expensive to maintain off season, leading to cancellations. "We've accelerated that project in terms of getting us to finalise which direction we're going to take in this financial year. But yes, we are considering all options as part of a broader product offering going forward," Mawela said. The decision to unbundle the sports channels comes as MultiChoice, which is a takeover target of France's Canal+ (CAN.L), opens new tab, lost 1.2 million broadcast subscribers over the year ended March 31, to 14.5 million. It blamed the ongoing cost-of-living crisis, which "has meant that households are struggling to make ends meet and many had no choice but to give up their DStv subscription for the time being." At the same time, the South African market has been affected by the ongoing global shift in video consumption towards cheaper streaming services, social media video and free or pirated video services. Thierry Henry's dream striker for Arsenal distances himself from transfer links
Julian Alvarez appears to have distanced himself from rumours he could be set quit Atletico Madrid this summer, labelling the club 'one of the best in the world'. The 25-year-old forward enjoyed an outstanding debut season in La Liga having joined Atleti from Manchester City, racking up 17 goals and four assists in the Spanish top flight. There had been some questions over the £80m fee that Atleti decided to part with to land Alvarez, but the Argentina international has more than lived up to expectations filling the void left by Alvaro Morata. However, speculation has been swirling that Alvarez could be on his way out of the Metropolitano Stadium after just 12 months, with Arsenal and Liverpool both credited with a strong interest in recent weeks. The Gunners have reportedly identified Alvarez as a potential 'Plan C' should they fail in pursuit of their two top targets, Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko, in the transfer market. Wake up to find news on your club in your inbox every morning with Metro's Football Newsletter. Sign up to our newsletter and then select your team in the link we'll send you so we can get football news tailored to you. But Alvarez and his family are believed to be settled in the Spanish capital and it seems the 2022 World Cup winner is not even thinking about upping sticks ahead of Atleti's Club World Cup campaign. After naming Atleti as one the 'best teams in the world' set to compete this summer's 32-team tournament, Alvarez told DAZN: 'I'm very excited about it. 'Being there, representing the league with this club, will be great, especially considering how happy the club's fans are to take part in this competition. 'There will be teams from all over the world with different cultures and different playing styles because there are teams from various continents. 'It will bring together 32 teams for a great tournament.' Alvarez is relishing the chance to represent Atleti on the global stage, with a shot at silverware at stake. He added: 'The goal is to compete and win. We know it will be a tough tournament, but we will prepare as well as possible and try to go as far as we can. 'We are aware that this club has fans all over the world and they always send us their best wishes and support via social media. 'I'm sure there will be Atletico Madrid fans in the United States and it's a great opportunity for them to cheer us on.' Earlier this week, Atleti head coach Diego Simeone suggested it was only 'logical' that the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool were interesting in signing an 'extraordinary player' like Alvarez. 'It's logical, I can't imagine any other scenario,' Simeone told Argentine outlet La Nacion. 'Julian is 25-years-old, he's an extraordinary player, with hunger, with enthusiasm, with humility, with work, with goals, with status. 'How could everyone not want him? And Barcelona, PSG, Arsenal, Liverpool… the best have to want him. 'And for us, Atletico fans, it should be a source of pride that everyone wants him. 'Why? Because he's ours. And since he's ours, we have to take care of him. We have to help him feel happy. 'How will he feel happy? By winning. And to get there, we all have to give 110 per cent. And not just for him, of course, but for everyone.' On a recent episode of The Overlap, Thierry Henry fuelled rumours linking Arsenal with Alvarez, picking out the former City attacker as one of his 'favourite nines' on the planet. Asked which striker could help steer Mikel Arteta's side to the Premier League title, the legendary ex-Arsenal forward replied: 'One of my favourite nines out there at the minute is Julian Alvarez. 'We've been talking about it: putting pressure on, playing it long, low, whatever you want to do. 'You see the free-kick he scored the other day? He can hold the ball alone. 'He played at the Olympic Games, he played the Copa America and I don't hear him saying he's tired. 'The way he plays it, I just like him. But it is possible [that Arsenal can sign him]? I don't know.' For more stories like this, check our sport page. Follow Metro Sport for the latest news on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
