Worker arrested for blowing compressed air into colleague
Bengaluru: While workplace disputes and heartburns are often known to take ugly turns, this latest incident in the state is way too gruesome, resulting in one employee ending up in hospital, while one of his colleagues, the perpetrator, getting arrested. A factory worker in Ramanagara district was held for an act that endangered the life and personal safety of one of his co-workers after the former allegedly assaulted him with a cleaning air gun. Police said this was a deliberate act, stemming from a workplace dispute. The incident occurred late last month at a kitchen appliances manufacturing unit in the Harohalli industrial area. According to the police, Govinda Gowda, the accused, used an air gun — typically employed for cleaning equipment — to blow compressed air into the anus of his coworker Paramesh M M, while the latter was bathing. The victim's wife, Savitha — an employee at the same factory — filed a police complaint only on Tuesday. She said the delay in reporting the crime was due to her husband's prolonged treatment, necessitating her presence near him as a caregiver. Police arrested Gowda on Wednesday and booked him under multiple sections of BNS. He was later released on bail. The couple have been working at the factory for 17 years, while Gowda is a recent recruit. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Wife Shamed for Teaching—Husband Regrets After Pay Stub Learn It Wise Undo Following the assault, Paramesh, the victim, collapsed on the spot and was rushed to a nearby private hospital, where he was under treatment for more than 20 days. Doctors reported that he experienced abdominal swelling and digestive complications for nearly 10 days. He has since been declared out of danger. Investigators said the act appeared premeditated, with Gowda entering the washroom when Paramesh was alone and turning the air gun on him to cause harm — to settle scores over an ongoing dispute.
