D'Souza emphasized that Jawahar Bal Manch aims to instill Nehruvian ideals and constitutional values in young minds, thereby rebuilding the vision of a secular India through youth empowerment. 'Strengthening JBM's presence across all states is a key priority, as the Congress party believes that creating a value-based, inclusive society is fundamental to strong nation-building,' she said.
The camp's chief guest, NSUI National President Varun Chaudhary, highlighted JBM's role in laying the ideological foundation for future leadership. 'Our goal is to produce educated, aware, and responsible individuals who uphold the Constitution. This is the Congress party's vision of constructive nation-building,' he said.
Chaudhary also affirmed that students with experience in JBM and an understanding of Gandhian values will be given priority consideration in future NSUI organisational elections, recognising their early commitment to public service and leadership.
The event was presided over by Dr. G.V. Hari, National Chairman, Jawahar Bal Manch. Under his leadership and the supervision of the national committee, two key initiatives were launched during the camp: the Indian Constitution Quiz for students under 16, and the Chacha Ji Gold Medal Drawing Competition. These national-level programs aim to enhance civic understanding and creative expression among children and will be conducted across the country.
JBM National Office Bearers also announced the upcoming National Representative Convention to be held in Jaipur on September 11,12 and 13, 2025, which will host over 200 student delegates and senior leaders including Rahul Gandhi. The 'Aarambh' camp served as a preparatory event for this major gathering.
As part of its digital outreach, JBM will also launch its official platforms - Kids TV and a YouTube Channel on July 14, 2025. The launch will be officiated by AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal.
The closing session was addressed by JBM National Chief Coordinator Adv. Yogesh Sharma, and national committee members Gunjan Sharma, Vaishakha Rinich, Rahul T, Tayyab Shahid, and Naresh Kumar.

OBC meet: Siddaramaiah seeks 75% reservation for OBCs and favours quota in private sector
Urging the OBC Advisory Council set up by the All India Congress Committee (AICC) to strategise to bring pressure on the current regime to complete the nation-wide socio, economic and educational caste census, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday said that there should be fight for reservation of 75% for backward classes or proportionate representation based on the caste census. He also favoured reservation in private sector. Proportional voice 'We must demand political representation and ensure that backward classes will have a proportional voice in all decision-making bodies. Economic opportunities should be expanded through reservation in private sector jobs, government promotions and contracts, financial support and schemes, and access to markets,' he told the delegates at the first meeting of the council here on Tuesday. 'Awareness campaigns to combat discrimination and ensure social integration, build a strong sense of backward class consciousness, which brings awareness of social reality, strength in numbers and right to equality. This political awakening will fuel aspiration, solidarity and long- term change,' he said, outlining the responsibility for the council, which comprises 24 leaders, including former Chief Ministers, former Ministers and Members of Parliament. The council has been set by the AICC to deliberate and strategise party's response in the OBC politics across the country and woo back the OBC voters to the party fold. Constitutional need Mr. Siddaramaiah, a member of the panel, said the Council must become a platform that transforms socio economic and educational caste census from a political debate into constitutional necessity. 'It should provide space that ensures backward classes voices shape policy, not just manifestos and a force that mobilises intellectual capital, youth energy and grassroots strength to build leadership emerging from the oppressed classes.' He said the council is not a formality, but 'soul of India's social justice movement... We should remind the country that AHINDA is not a vote bank, but it is the voice of India's conscience.' Attacking the BJP and Sangha Parivar, the Chief Minister said, 'They may polarise India through caste division, but we will win back India through social unity and constitutional justice. They treat OBCs as mere symbols, We uplift them as equals.' At every step, BJP opposed Congress's social justice efforts not just politically, but ideologically too, undermining equity and resisting OBC empowerment out of discomfort for true backward class advancement, he added. Among those present in the meeting, which will continue its deliberations on Wednesday, were Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and former Puducherry Chief Minister V. Narayanswamy. The council will deliberate on the national caste census, a demand by the Congress and OBC oriented welfare programmes in the country.

Political Parties Relying On Caste Considerations Dangerous For Country: Supreme Court
New Delhi: Political parties relying on caste considerations are equally dangerous for the country, the Supreme Court observed on Tuesday as it refused to entertain a plea seeking cancellation of the registration of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) as a political party. A bench of Justices Surya Kant and Joymalya Bagchi pointed out that according to the constitution of the AIMIM, its objective is to work for every backward section of the society, including minorities, which is professed by the Constitution. "The party says they will work for every backward class in the society, including those belonging to minority communities and Muslims who are backward both economically and in the field of education. This is what our Constitution professes. There are certain rights guaranteed to minorities under the Constitution and the party's political manifesto or constitution says it will work for the protection of those rights granted under the Constitution," the bench told advocate Vishnu Shankar Jain, who appeared in the court on behalf of the petitioner. The bench, which asked Jain to withdraw the plea filed against a Delhi High Court order that dismissed a writ petition challenging the registration and recognition of the AIMIM by the Election Commission (EC), granted liberty to the petitioner to file a writ petition, wherein he may make a wider prayer for reforms in respect of political parties on different counts. "You may be right that there are some grey areas, where even after giving an undertaking, a party or a candidate of the party may indulge in a campaign which may raise religious sentiments, but for that one can bring the incident to the notice of an appropriate forum. "There are some political parties which rely on caste considerations, which is equally dangerous for the country. This is not allowed. So you may file a neutral petition which does not accuse any specific political party or accuses any individual and raises general issues. Bring to our notice and we will take care of it," the bench told the petitioner. Jain, who represented petitioner Tirupati Narasimha Murari, submitted that the AIMIM also says it will promote Islamic education amongst Muslims and create general awareness to abide by Sharia law. Justice Kant said, "So what is wrong in that? Teaching Islamic education is not wrong. We will welcome if more and more political parties establish educational institutions in the country. There is nothing wrong with it." Jain contended that there is discrimination as he claimed that if he goes to the EC to register a political party with a Hindu name and gives an undertaking that he wants to teach the Vedas, the Puranas and the Upanishads, his application would be rejected. The bench said, "If the ECI raises any such objection against the teaching of the Vedas, the Puranas, the Shastras or any religious scriptures, please go to the appropriate forum. Law will take care of that. There is nothing wrong in the reading of our old treatise, books or literature or history. Absolutely, there is no prohibition under law." Justice Kant further told Jain that if a political party says it will promote untouchability, that is absolutely offending and must be struck down and banned but if the Constitution protects a religious law and the party says it wants to teach that to people, then there is nothing wrong in it. "Suppose a religious law is protected under the Constitution and a political party says we will teach that law, they will be allowed to teach because it is protected under the Constitution. This is within the framework of the Constitution and is not objectionable," Justice Kant said. On January 16, a division bench of the Delhi High Court rejected the plea challenging the registration and recognition of the AIMIM, saying the party fulfilled all the requirements that are mandated under the law. The high court agreed with the view of a single-judge bench that on November 20, last year said the petition was without merits and the arguments amounted to interference with the fundamental rights of the AIMIM members to constitute themselves as a political party, espousing their political beliefs and values.
