Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday said the Bihar government will provide jobs and employment opportunities to one crore youths over the next five years.
In a bid to impart skill development training to connect youths with self-employment opportunities in the next five years (2025-2030), the state government will set up the Jananayak Karpuri Thakur Skill University, he said.
Kumar's announcement assumes significance ahead of the assembly polls due later this year.

'For the next five years, we are setting a target to double the 2020-25 goal by providing government jobs and employment opportunities to one crore youths. To achieve this, employment opportunities will also be created in the private sector, particularly in industrial areas. For this purpose, a high-level committee is being constituted,' Kumar said in a post on X on Sunday morning.
'I am delighted to share that so far, 10 lakh youths in the state have been provided government jobs, and approximately 39 lakh people have been given employment, and the target of providing government jobs/employment to over 50 lakh youth will certainly be achieved,' he said.
The CM said that under the 'Saat Nischay' programme, youths of the state are being provided skill development training for self-employment opportunities.
'In the next five years, the ongoing programme under 'Saat Nischay' will be expanded… a university will be established for skill development, which will be named Jananayak Karpuri Thakur Skill University in honour of Bihar's pride, Bharat Ratna Jananayak Karpoori Thakur ji,' Kumar said.
He said that between 2005 and 2020, over 8 lakh youths of Bihar were provided government jobs.
'To further accelerate the pace of providing government jobs and employment to youths, in 2020, under the good governance programme 'Saat Nischay-2′, we resolved to give government jobs to 10 lakh youths and employment to 10 lakh people. Later, this target was increased to provide government jobs to 12 lakh youths and employment to 38 lakh people by August 2025,' the CM added.

JD(U) begins women outreach drive

After the BJP, its alliance partner JD(U)'s women's wing has launched an intensive public outreach campaign — from the state to the booth level — to connect with the state's women voters as the assembly polls in the state are drawing near. JD(U) begins women outreach drive Women form nearly 48% of the total voting population. As against BJP's women outreach plan aimed at covering 120 assembly segments in first phase, the JD(U) has started its campaign to reach out to women across the state and in all constituencies simultaneously. The party held an important meeting of women leaders recently in which state party president Umesh Kushwaha held a detailed discussion keeping the goal of '225 seats in 2025 and Nitish again' at the centre. 'A strategy was decided to strengthen the organisation, ensure active participation of women workers and accelerate the work of the party at the grassroots level. It was also decided that the women's unit of JD(U) will run an extensive public relations campaign and will take the welfare schemes and developmental achievements of the government to the people,' said Kushwaha. 'Under the leadership of Nitish Kumar, Bihar has witnessed transformative initiatives aimed at women empowerment, bringing remarkable changes to their lives. Landmark measures such as free education for girls from KG to post-graduation, prohibition of alcohol, free bicycles for school-going girls, 35% reservation for women in government jobs, and 50% reservation in panchayat elections have significantly uplifted the status of women across the state,' said Anupriya Yadav, JD(U) state spokesperson. The JD (U) does not want to leave these achievements and works go unnoticed. 'To further spread awareness of these achievements, the women's wing of JD(U) has launched a campaign wherein female party workers will visit every district, engaging women through community talks, door-to-door visits, and seminars. This outreach aims to ensure that the positive impact of CM Nitish Kumar's policies is communicated effectively, inspiring more women to take advantage of these opportunities. Such initiatives not only showcase progressive governance but also pave the way for a more inclusive and empowered Bihar,' said Anupriya Yadav. The JD(U) feels that Kumar's contribution to the welfare and upliftment of women is unmatched in any other state of the country. Earlier, Kumar himself, in a bid to reach out to women voters, had launched 'Mahila Samvad Rath' under which JD(U) workers visited different districts of Bihar and inform women about the efforts made by the Nitish government to uplift their socio-economic condition. The campaign also highlighted the schemes related to women's empowerment, employment, and education. The Nitish government is also relying heavily on the members of the 10.75 lakh women self-help groups (SHGs) to 'act as a link' between the JD(U) and women voters, a party leader said, adding that 'women are the political force of the JD(U)'. 'Though the women voters are not taken seriously by parties, they have turned out to be the decisive voters in the recent Bihar Assembly elections 2020. This was the third time consecutively when women had outnumbered the men voters. In three phases of Bihar elections, women voters' turnout increased consistently from the first phase to the third phase. In the first phase, they voted 5% more than men, in the second phase 6%, and in the third phase, they outnumbered men by 11% benefitting NDA the most,' said Gyananendra Yadav, associate professor of Sociology, College of Commerce, Patna.

China, Pakistan suffer big blow as US to make Tejas MK2 and AMCA engines in India, technology transfer..., sixth-generation fighters...

New Delhi: India's ambitious project Light Combat Aircraft Mark-2 (LCAMK2) is now going to write a new chapter. Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) announced on Wednesday that it has signed an agreement with American engine manufacturer GE Aerospace. Under this, the GEF414 engine that is fitted in fighter planes will be made in India itself. Along with these engines, the American company will also provide adequate Transfer of Technology (ToT) to India. This announcement has been made when the need for advanced fighter jets is being felt in the Indian Air Force after the retirement of MiG-21. At the same time, India's Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has also taken a step forward for the test of jet engines. What kind of engines will be available for LCAMK1A? According to a report by Business Standard, this agreement has been reached between HAL and America's GE Aerospace. Under an earlier agreement with the American company, India got the second GE-404 engine from America in July this year. HAL will install this engine in Tejas LCAMK1A fighter jets. HAL is to get 12 such GE-404 engines by March 2026. The Indian Air Force (IAF) has already placed orders for 83 LCA Mark 1A. Apart from this, there is also a proposal to purchase 97 more such fighter jets. What caused the delay in engine delivery? India was in need of powerful engines for a long time, but neither America nor capable European countries gave this technology to India. Russia gave engines, but did not give technology. In such a situation, it became very important for India to make its indigenous engine. Now with Kaveri 2.0, India will become self-reliant in terms of engines. What is DRDO's plan for making 'super engine'? Gas Turbine Research Establishment (GTRE), an associate organization of DRDO, has built a facility for the final test of jet engines. The work of building a powerful engine facility at this facility in Bengaluru started in 2023 itself. GTRE will make a powerful engine of 130 kilonewtons in this facility. It is believed that this engine will be ready in this facility, which will be ready by October 2025. What kind of engines will be made here? At present, GTRE has two important projects. One is the dry Kaveri engine. These engines will be prepared for unmanned combat drones. Secondly, another super engine will be made, which will be prepared for the future fifth-generation indigenous fighter aircraft, i.e. Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA). India is working on dual-engine technology, which will make fighter aircraft more powerful. It is believed that the first trial of the engine will be done by mid-2026. In this, the Kaveri derivative engine, also known as dry Kaveri, will be developed. This engine will be the non-afterburning variant of the original GTX-35VS Kaveri. It has been designed for India's stealth unmanned combat aerial vehicle drone, Ghaatak. Its test was successful in Russia. Will fifth-generation fighter jets be able to fly using Kaveri 2.0? Kaveri 2.0 is a next-generation turbofan engine. It is being developed for use in future fighter aircraft, such as fifth and sixth-generation fighter aircraft. The Kaveri 2.0 engine core is designed to generate thrust between 55 and 58 kN. With afterburner (wet thrust), it is expected to achieve more than 90 kN. Kaveri 2.0 will prove to be better than the US-made F-404 (84 kN) and F-414 (98 kN) engines.

Honorarium of cooks, watchmen & instructors doubled: Nitish

Patna: CM Nitish Kumar on Friday said his govt has doubled the honorarium for cooks, night watchmen, and physical education & health instructors working in the state govt schools. "The honorarium for cooks working under the education department's midday meal programme has been doubled from Rs 1,650 to Rs 3,300 per month. Similarly, the honorarium for night guards in the secondary/higher secondary schools has also been doubled from Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000 per month," the CM said in a post on X. "The remuneration for physical education & health instructors has also been doubled from Rs 8,000 to Rs 16,000 per month. Additionally, their annual salary increment has also been doubled from Rs 200 to Rs 400. This will boost the morale of the working personnel, encouraging them to perform their duties with greater enthusiasm and dedication," Nitish said in the post in Hindi. In the beginning of his post, Nitish said, "Since the formation of the govt in Nov 2005, we have been consistently working to improve the education system. In 2005, the total budget of education (dept) was Rs 4,366 crore, which has now increased to Rs 77,690 crore. Significant improvements in the education system have been made through the appointment of a large number of teachers, construction of new school buildings, and development of infrastructure. " "Cooks, night guards, and physical education & health instructors have played an important role in strengthening the education system. Keeping this in mind, we have decided to double the honorarium of these personnel by making a "respectable increase" in their remuneration," the CM said. Welcoming the govt's decision, JD(U) state president Umesh Singh Kushwaha on Friday said by doubling the honorarium of these personnel, the CM has once again proven that his governance style is a testament to human sensitivity, social justice, and inclusive development. "This decision will instil pride, stability, and hope in the thousands of families," Kushwaha said.
