Pirates looking to end season on high with victory over Magesi
Selepe has admitted that Pirates were lucky to walk away with a point against AmaZulu.
Orlando Pirates will have one final chance to end their 2024/25 season on a high note when they face Magesi FC in a Betway Premiership match at Orlando Stadium on Wednesday (kick-off is at 7.30pm).
Victory for the second-placed Buccaneers will increase their point tally to 63 points, which is better than last season, when they collected 50 points in 30 games.

Even though they once again failed to topple Mamelodi Sundowns, it is a big improvement from last season, considering that the games were reduced to 28 matches this campaign after the termination of Royal AM's membership by the League.
Pirates will, however, need a better performance if they are to beat Dikwena tsa Meetse following their below-par performance against AmaZulu in the previous league encounter last Saturday.
Siphiwe Selepe, who scored the equalizer for the Buccaneers in the 1-1 draw against Usuthu, has admitted they were lucky to walk away with a point against Arthur Zwane's side.
'I think in the first half we created chances, but we couldn't convert,' Selepe told Pirates media.
'It was a bit scrappy because they were a bit more in control of the ball. We were playing off second balls, which is something we are not used to. We had to fix things in the second half and adjust so that we could become better.
'I'm happy to have helped the team so that we could get back into the game, even though we didn't win, because we wanted a better result.
'I also think that there's plenty that we need to fix for the upcoming game,' he added.
'There is a lot of improvement at Pirates'
Meanwhile, Pirates interim coach Mandla Ncikazi is delighted that they managed to achieve some of the targets they set for themselves this season, even though they failed to win the league title.
'It's for the first time this side finds themselves where they are, and I am certain we have created a good foundation for a good start next season. The club has met most of its targets at the beginning of the season, but it is not perfect.

'We didn't meet all of them. But for me, from where we were last season to where we are now, there is a lot of improvement,' concluded Ncikazi.

Both exits come as a shock for different reasons. Monyane is a Pirates academy product and spent his entire full career at the club until date. In previous season he had been touted as a big prospect not only for the Buccaneers but for Bafana Bafana as well. However, he has seen his last two seasons blighted with injuries which. Have derailed his progress. Last season, the club also signed Deano van Rooyen which did not help his cause. Before and after that signing, he had seen his name linked with an exit from the club. Mako on the other hand was a very useful utility player for Pirates. In the end, he was their first choice left-back and seemed to establish himself as a regular. Therefore his release would've caught many off guard, Money played 94 times for Pirates, scoring four times with the same amount of assists. Orlando Pirates star offered to Kaizer Chiefs!
Kaizer Chiefs could be set for a shock transfer by signing one of the players from their archrivals Orlando Pirates. Chiefs are looking to bolster their squad ahead of the 2025/26 season and that could lead them to rivals Pirates. It is not usual that players move directly between the Soweto giants, however, it has happened in the recent past. This is usually only through free agency, with names like Jimmy Tau, Lehlohonolo Majoro and Brilliant Khuzwayo coming to mind. Those players moved between Chiefs and Pirates without the clubs being involved in direct negotiations with each other. Then last season, however, Chiefs and Pirates negotiated a historic first ever transfer between each other. Amakhosi acquired the services of Bongani Sam from the Buccaneers, with the left-back signing for a reported R3 million fee. Now according to SABC Sport, there could be another direct transfer between the two clubs involving Thabiso Monyane. Monyane, however, will see his deal at Pirates expire in June and has reportedly been offered to Chiefs! 'SABC Sport has established that Kaizer Chiefs have been presented with the opportunity to sign right back Thabiso Monyane, whose contract with Orlando Pirates runs out this month. Picture: Alche Greeff/BackpagePix An experimental Bafana Bafana failed to spark against Tanzania in an unremarkable goalless draw at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Friday. And the Belgian's competitive record is spectacular enough to suggest it will be put to good use in September's Fifa World Cup qualifiers. Bafana struggle This was a painful watch in general, however, as Bafana laboured to break down a Tanzanian side that seemed content with a draw from kick off. Three players were handed their Bafana debuts from the start against Tanzania. Orlando Pirates pair Deano Van Rooyen and Simphiwe Selepe along with TS Galaxy's Khulumani Ndumane got their chance to shine on the international stage. It was one of Bafana's regulars, Oswin Appollis, who shone in the first half. In just the fourth minute, the Polokwane City forward pounced on a mistake in the Tanzania penalty area, but his effort was cleared off the line. On the half hour mark, a neat passing move found Thalente Mbatha in space on the edge of the box, but he fired way off target. And on the stroke of half time, it was Appollis who threatened again, his long-range strike comfortably saved by Tanzania goalkeeper Suleiman Ali. In truth, the first half was a difficult watch, with neither side really able to string too much together in the attacking third. Greater intent Bafana came out with far more intent after the break. Tshepang Moremi nearly latched onto Mbatha's fine long range pass. Moremi then saw his fizzing long-range effort tipped wide by Ali. Pirates winger Mohau Nkota also got on the pitch for his debut, while Relebohile Mofokeng entered the field at the same time. And Mofokeng blew a great chance to score in stoppage time when he was gifted possession and chipped the ball over Ali but onto the roof of the net.
