Jrue Holiday, Jaylen Brown, Derrick White could reportedly be traded by Boston Celtics

USA Today14 hours ago

Jrue Holiday, Jaylen Brown, and Derrick White are reportedly on the table to trade for the Boston Celtics, if for a very steep price, according to recent rumbles from the likes of ESPN senior reporter Shams Charania, The Stein Line's Jake Fischer, and other trustworthy sources. But how realistic is it that any of the two Boston guards and the star Celtics forward will actually be dealt by the team?
Holiday has been thick and heavy in the rumor mill as a potential trade option for Boston to get under the collective bargaining agreement (CBA)'s second apron to dodge a historic payroll and tax bill. But White and Brown, while technically available for the right price, likely would require an absurd haul to be pried loose from the Celtics based on what people have been hearing.
The folks behind the "WEEI Boston's Sports Original" YouTube channel put together a clip from their "Jones and Keefe" show that has them take a closer look at this chatter. Check it out below!

Yankees reliever Jake Cousins ‘moving toward' needing Tommy John surgery

BOSTON — Since the start of May, the New York Yankees' bullpen has ranked in the bottom 10 in ERA and FIP. One of their key relievers was due back soon and was seen as someone who could help stabilize the group, but that now seems unlikely. Jake Cousins, who has yet to pitch this season because of a flexor strain, is 'moving toward' needing Tommy John surgery, manager Aaron Boone said Saturday. Cousins was recently on a minor-league rehab assignment working toward making his season debut, but was pulled off of it earlier this week after feeling pain in his elbow. It was his second setback in his rehab this season, after dealing with a pectoral issue in May. Advertisement The loss of Cousins is quite significant for the Yankees. He was one of their better pitchers last season after getting traded from the Chicago White Sox. Cousins had a 2.37 ERA and a 34.2 percent strikeout rate across 38 innings. If Cousins does need Tommy John surgery, the timing would likely mean it'll also cost him the 2026 season. Cousins, 30, is eligible for the first year of arbitration this offseason. If the Yankees wanted to keep Cousins and have him rehab with the organization, he'll likely make less than $1 million. A potential issue with keeping Cousins through the offseason though is he would take a 40-man roster spot, and the Yankees may need it depending on what they do. Even before Cousins was diagnosed with a UCL injury, the Yankees still needed to add at least one reliever to their bullpen ahead of next month's trade deadline. That becomes even more important with one of their potential high-leverage relievers likely bound to miss the entirety of the year. The Yankees' injury news wasn't all bad on Saturday. Boone said designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton (double tennis elbow) could make his season debut Monday or Tuesday at Yankee Stadium against the Los Angeles Angels. Luis Gil (lat strain) is about two weeks away from facing live hitters. He's still several weeks out from making his season debut.

Auburn football 2025 snapshot profile: Hudson Kaak

AI-assisted summary Auburn's new punter, Hudson Kaak, transfers from Oklahoma State after averaging 41.1 yards per punt over two seasons. Kaak, a junior from Australia, was a three-star recruit and ranked No. 2 nationally at his position in the 2023 class. He replaces five-year starter Oscar Chapman and will allow freshman punter John Alan McGuire time to develop. Kaak boasts a career-long punt of 54 yards and 32 punts landed inside the 20-yard line. After five years of relying on Oscar Chapman to handle its punting duties, the Auburn Tigers are set to hand the keys over to fellow Aussie, Hudson Kaak. Kaak transferred to Auburn during the offseason after a successful two-season stint at Oklahoma State, where he averaged 41.1 yards per punt. His average punts are comparable to Chapman, who averaged 43.5 yards per punt over his five-year career in Auburn. Kaak is expected to become the Tigers' primary punter, which will allow time for true freshman John Alan McGuire to develop. McGuire and Towns McGough are projected to handle kickoff duties this year while Kaak and Alex McPherson are expected to handle the punting a field goal kicking respectively. Two-Way Star Pegged as 'Ambitious' Trade Target for Denver Nuggets

Two-Way Star Pegged as 'Ambitious' Trade Target for Denver Nuggets originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Denver Nuggets are entering a pivotal offseason in which their roster is crying out for upgrades. The organization will be under major pressure to properly reopen the championship window around Nikola Jokic. Advertisement It has not been discussed enough, but 2025-26 represents the second-last guaranteed season for the Nuggets having Jokic on the books. The Serbian superstar has a player option for the 2027-28 season. It is certainly not time to panic in Denver. Jokic has given no immediate indicators to suggest the Nuggets superstar wants to leave the franchise. However, continuing to fall short of a championship will surely not be a good look when the best player in the world plays for the Nuggets. Nikola Jokic (right) speaks to an NBA official.© Alonzo Adams-Imagn Images In an effort to push the Nuggets closer to title contention in 2025-26, Grant Hughes of Bleacher Report suggested one ambitious trade target for Denver to chase. The player in question was Derrick White. Advertisement In a recent appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Shams Charania explained that trading Jrue Holiday, Kristaps Porzingis, and Sam Hauser are the priorities for the Boston Celtics this season. However, there was a twist. Charania also alluded to the idea that apart from Jayson Tatum, anyone on the Celtics roster can be had for the right price. This is where the Nuggets can come into the picture to push for White. Hughes wrote, "Everybody loves Christian Braun, but the Denver Nuggets need an even more dynamic two-way threat next to Jamal Murray to maximize Nikola Jokić's prime." Hughes continued: "Derrick White is among the best defensive guards in the league and is the kind of three-point shooter whom opponents get yanked off the floor for leaving open. His value as a spacer is far greater than Braun's, and his superiority as a playmaker (4.8 assists per game last year) would give the Nuggets never-before-seen levels of offensive savvy and dynamism." The Bleacher Report writer admitted it would probably take a third team to get this potential deal done. However, at the cost of draft capital, Christian Braun, and rerouting Michael Porter Jr. elsewhere, the Nuggets could land an 'ideal fit.'
