Silent Hill 4, Deus Ex And F.E.A.R. Among Latest Games To Enter GOG's Preservation Program
In February, when one of the scourges of preservation, Warner Bros. (a company that shelves finished movies such that they may never be seen by anyone, while deleting vast archives of classic animations from its streaming services, alongside closing down game studios that have created some of the best games of recent times), GOG reacted to the news of the closure of Monolith with an announcement that it will attempt to save as many of the studio's games as it's able via the Preservation Program. The first of these, FEAR, is now in.
Meanwhile, 2004's Silent Hill 4 has joined the program with the addition of 'restored scenes that were never available on PC before,' according to a press release from GOG. This includes missing 'hauntings,' the strange events that occur, which GOG found were in the PC code but never included—their engineers have dug them out and got them working.
Alongside those two headliners are some other classic games that could easily merit the same moniker. Stone-cold classics like Deus Ex,Fallout 2, Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption, Alone In The Dark 1 to 3, and all eight original Ultima games are also now included, meaning they will be constantly maintained to work on modern PCs for as long as GOG exists (and, the company told me, it has plans in place to ensure preservation can continue if it was to go away). Oh, and Crystal Dynamic's first threeTomb Raiders.
Here's the full list of new additions. It's worth noting most of these are currently at least 75 percent off in GOG's current sale:
Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption
Tomb Raider: Underworld, Anniversary and Legend
Alone in the Dark: The Trilogy 1+2+3
Ultima™ 1+2+3
Ultima™ 4+5+6
Ultima™ 8 Gold Edition
Wing Commander™ 1+2
Deus Ex GOTY Edition
Jagged Alliance 2

‘Superman' star Terence Stamp dead at 87
Terence Stamp, who is best known for his roles in the Christopher Reeve 'Superman' movies and 'Priscilla, Queen of the Desert,' has passed away. He was 87. The beloved actor's family announced the news in a statement to Reuters on Sunday, Aug. 17. 'He leaves behind an extraordinary body of work, both as an actor and as a writer that will continue to touch and inspire people for years to come,' his loved ones said. 'We ask for privacy at this sad time.' Advertisement 6 Terence Stamp attends a screening of 'The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert' in London, England, on March 23, 2019. Getty Images Born in London in 1938, Stamp made his film debut in 1962's 'Billy Budd' – a role that garnered him an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor and a Golden Globe for Most Promising Male Newcomer. He later starred in 1966's 'Modesty Blaise' and 1967's 'Far from the Madding Crowd,' the latter of which also included his then-girlfriend, Julie Christie. 'It's a mystery to me,' he told the outlet. 'I was in my prime. When the 1960s ended, I just ended with it.' 6 Terence Stamp at a screening of 'The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert' in London, England, on March 23, 2019. Alicia Silverstone thought she was dating Cary Elwes after filming kiss for 'The Crush'
Alicia Silverstone had a big crush on Cary Elwes. During an interview with Entertainment Weekly published Saturday, Aug. 16, the 'Clueless' star opened up about making her film debut in 1993's 'The Crush.' Silverstone, who was just 16 at the time, starred in the psychological thriller alongside Elwes, then 30, and she told the outlet that it was a dream come true – even despite the pair's 14-year age difference. 7 Cary Elwes and Alicia Silverstone in a promo shot for 'The Crush.' ©Warner Bros/Courtesy Everett Collection 7 Alicia Silverstone and Cary Elwes kiss during a scene in the 1993 thriller 'The Crush.' ©Warner Bros/Courtesy Everett Collection 'I just remember that, when I was little, telling people that I was 'going to kiss the boy from The Princess Bride, but he's a lot older than me,'' she shared. 'We had this kiss in the film and, because I was young, I thought that meant he was my boyfriend now.' 'Not really, but a little bit,' Silverstone added. 'I went to his trailer and asked him if that was okay, and he was so kind.' Years later, when Elwes' wife, Lisa Marie Kubikoff, sent Silverstone pictures from the set of 'The Crush,' the 'Batman & Robin' star still pretended that Elwes was her boyfriend. 7 Alicia Silverstone as Adrian and Cary Elwes as Nick in 'The Crush.' ©Warner Bros/Courtesy Everett Collection 'Lisa Marie, his wife, sent me pictures from back in the day where we're lying together, and I'm looking at her while she's taking the picture like, 'This is my man,'' Silverstone joked. Silverstone also admitted that Elwes was nothing less than a gentleman during their time filming together, and that the 'Robin Hood: Men in Tights' actor was more like a big brother to her. 'But, really, he was a really good big brother to me and took care,' she said. 'He was so lovely. We had a very professional relationship, and he was very big-brother-like to me, and very sweet and kind.' 7 Alicia Silverstone said that Cary Elwes was nothing less than a gentleman during their time filming together ©Warner Bros/Courtesy Everett Collection 'It was just a great job. What a great part to play. It was so fun,' Silverstone added. Elsewhere during her interview, the 'Blast from the Past' star revealed how she almost lost out on her role in 'The Crush.' The Alan Shapiro-directed film follows a 14-year-old girl named Adrian Forrester (Silverstone) who is dangerously obsessed with a 28-year-old writer named Nick Eliot (Elwes). 7 Alicia Silverstone during Televerse 25, a festival by the Television Academy, at the JW Marriott in Los Angeles, California, on Friday, Aug. 15, 2025. Invision for the Television Academy 'At first, I was auditioning almost every day, but I wasn't getting anything,' Silverstone shared. 'Then, all of a sudden, I started to get close to everything. They would say, 'It's between you and one other girl.' But that actually was worse. I'd get so close and then be disappointed, where before I didn't care.' 'They had me back many, many times, and it seemed like I was going to get the part — and then they offered it to someone else. It felt really bad,' she recalled. 'For some reason, I felt like I was supposed to play this psychotic character.' However, Silverstone ultimately landed the role after the original actress dropped out. 7 Alicia Silverstone out and about in NYC on August 6, 2025. GC Images The actress also recently opened up about another one of her first-ever onscreen acting roles, which was a short, one-episode appearance on 'The Wonder Years' in 1992. She shot a scene with the coming-of-age comedy's star, Fred Savage, who later thought that Silverstone gave him a fake phone number. 'Fred asked me for my number, which was really sweet, because I was 14,' she explained. 'My home phone number was also a fax machine of my dad's work.' 7 Alicia Silverstone visits the IMDb Portrait Studio at Acura House of Energy in Park City, Utah, on January 20, 2024. After starring in the erotic thriller 'Pretty Thing,' which premiered last month, Silverstone is set to reprise her role as Cher Horowitz in Peacock's upcoming 'Clueless' reboot series. While Silverstone admitted that she 'never thought' about doing a revival of the 1995 classic, she is 'excited' and confident that the new show will 'honor' the original movie.
