Is Travis Kelce done with football? Hollywood move sparks rumors of secret retirement plan
Kansas City Chiefs star
Travis Kelce
appears to be seriously paving the way for a post-football career, and it's not just through endorsements or podcasting — he's heading straight for Hollywood.
With retirement discussions intensifying, Kelce is aligning his off-field presence with opportunities that suggest he's gearing up for a full pivot into entertainment.
From Super Bowl Sundays to silver screen stardom: Travis Kelce prepares for life after football
Travis Kelce's first major acting role will come in the highly anticipated Happy Gilmore 2, starring Adam Sandler. Sandler himself had high praise for the tight end: 'We have a nice something for Travis... What a big handsome guy. Funny and cool as hell.
He's a stud, and he's so funny.' This isn't Kelce's first brush with TV — he previously appeared in FX's horror series Grotesquerie and the 2020 sci-fi comedy Moonbase 8.
But this upcoming film marks his cinematic debut, and one that could launch him into a new stratosphere of stardom.
Podcasting power moves and a strategic agency shift signal serious career planning
Kelce and his brother Jason recently inked a massive $100 million deal with Amazon for their New Heights podcast, which has become a cultural phenomenon.
The podcast not only expanded their fanbase but also cemented the Kelce brothers as media personalities beyond football. Behind the scenes, Kelce's management team, A&A Management, was acquired by entertainment powerhouse 3 Arts Entertainment — a move that aligns with long-term plans to transition smoothly into film and TV.
The Eanes brothers, who represent Kelce, have drawn comparisons between him and Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, noting Kelce's rare mix of charisma, athleticism, and on-screen potential.
It's a bold comparison, but not an unreasonable one. The NFL star's personality, already beloved by fans, seems tailor-made for the screen.
Despite rising fame, Travis Kelce insists he's not done with football — yet
Though Kelce remains under contract with the Chiefs through 2027, he has openly acknowledged that the end of his NFL career is approaching. After the team fell short of a Super Bowl three-peat, many speculated that Kelce might hang up his cleats. However, he confirmed that he would return for at least one more season.
Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes quickly shut down any talk of Kelce coasting to retirement: 'The way he's talking about football… he doesn't seem like a guy on his last ride.' Kelce's path forward seems clear — dominate on the field for one last run, then take on Hollywood full force.

Eagles running back Saquon Barkley declines invitation to join Trump's sports council
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Saquon Barkley has declined an invitation to join President Donald Trump's council on sports, fitness, and nutrition, which is being revitalized under an executive order that also reestablishes the Presidential Fitness Test for American children. HT Image Barkley, the 2,000-yard rusher for the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles, was on a list of sports personalities that included golfers Bryson DeChambeau and Nelly Korda, WWE executive Paul 'Triple H' Levesque, football Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor and retired New York Yankees great Mariano Rivera. Barkley said Monday following Eagles' practice that he had actually declined the invitation. 'A couple months ago, it was brought to my team about the council," Barkley said. "So I'm not really too familiar with it. I felt like that I am going to be super busy. Me and my family thought it would probably be of best interest to not accept that. I was definitely a little shocked when my name was mentioned. I'm assuming it's something great, so I appreciate it but was a little shocked when my name was mentioned.' Trump last week reestablished the Presidential Fitness Test for American children, a fixture of public schools for decades that gauged young people's health and athleticism with 1-mile runs, sit-ups and stretching exercises. 'This is a wonderful tradition, and we're bringing it back,' Trump said of the fitness test that began in 1966 but was phased out during the Obama administration. The executive order also reinvigorated the national sports council that could have included Barkley. Barkley won AP Offensive Player of the Year last season after rushing for 2,005 yards, eighth-best in NFL history, in his first season with the Eagles. Barkley has golfed with Trump and former President Barack Obama over the last year and the running back attended the White House celebration of the champion Eagles while some teammates — notably star quarterback Jalen Hurts — skipped the ceremony. Barkley visited Trump in April at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey, and caught a ride with the president to Washington on Air Force One and then to the White House on Marine One. 'He loved it,' Trump said then of Barkley's short flight on the presidential airplane. 'He's a great young guy and an incredible football player. Saquon had a season for the ages, running behind the most powerful offensive line in the NFL." Barkley, meanwhile, pushed back on social media criticism following the visit. He noted that he had already golfed with Obama, a Democrat. 'Maybe I just respect the office, not a hard concept to understand,' Barkley posted on X. ___ AP sports:

Donald Trump calls Taylor Swift 'no longer hot' while praising Sydney Sweeney's American Eagle ad
Taylor Swift Dragged into Sydney Sweeney Ad Drama as Trump Says She's Not 'Hot' Anymore. (Image-X) You'd think a jeans commercial wouldn't be political warfare, but here we are. What started as a cheeky American Eagle campaign featuring Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney has spiraled into an unexpected culture war with Taylor Swift caught in the crossfire. The moment the words 'great jeans' turned into a thinly veiled pun about genetics, the internet exploded. And then came Donald Trump , calling Sweeney 'hot,' dragging Taylor as 'no longer hot,' and turning what should've been a harmless denim moment into a full-on GOP-vs-Swift spectacle. Trump calls Sydney Sweeney 'hot' and Taylor Swift 'no longer hot' for the American Eagle ad drama American Eagle's new campaign featuring Sydney Sweeney was all about wordplay: 'Sydney Sweeney has great jeans,' with the word genes crossed out in classic handwritten rebel font. But what was meant to be flirty and fun got dragged on social media for echoing eugenic undertones. Critics online pointed out how the ad seemed to elevate a very specific standard of beauty, white, blonde, blue-eyed and combined with genetics talk, things got uncomfortable real fast. Then Donald Trump got involved, and chaos officially began. After finding out Sydney is a registered Republican, Trump went straight to Truth Social and posted: 'Sydney Sweeney, a registered Republican, has the HOTTEST ad out there. It's for American Eagle, and the jeans are flying off the shelves. Go get 'em Sydney!' He followed it up with, 'Being WOKE is for losers. Being Republican is what you want to be.' He even took the opportunity to bash Jaguar or any company that doesn't align with his vibe. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Bo Derek's Probably The Most Gorgeous 68-Year-Old. Paperela Undo But the most unexpected moment? Trump deciding to take a swipe at Taylor Swift out of nowhere. Trump randomly veered into pop star territory, taking a direct shot at Swift's popularity. He said: 'She was booed out of the Super Bowl and became NO LONGER HOT .' Cue the record scratch. The attack felt wildly out of place, especially since Taylor had nothing to do with the jeans ad but that didn't stop Trump from making it political. With Swift being vocal about progressive causes and her support for Biden, it's clear she's the go-to 'woke celeb' target for conservative outrage. So when Sweeney got the Republican stamp of approval, Swift naturally got the backhanded burn. This isn't the first time Trump's taken jabs at Taylor, but calling her 'no longer hot' while praising Sweeney as the new conservative darling? That's petty on a whole new level. American Eagle's stock soared nearly 24%, because of course controversy sells. Right-wing pundits like Megyn Kelly and Ted Cruz jumped in to praise Sweeney's 'anti-woke energy,' while left-leaning critics continued dragging the brand for 'objectifying' women and playing with dangerous cultural symbolism. NBA trade rumor: De'Aaron Fox signs 4-year, $229M extension with San Antonio Spurs through 2030 season
De'Aaron Fox extended his contract with the San Antonio Spurs (Image via Getty Images) After signing with the San Antonio Spurs at the February NBA trade deadline, popular player De'Aaron Fox has inked a new contract with the team. The star and the team reached an agreement for a four-year contract extension worth a maximum of $229 million. Rich Paul, CEO of Klutch Sports, informed ESPN that the maximum contract guarantees the player's future in San Antonio through the 2029-2030 season. De'Aaron Fox commits to San Antonio Spurs with a massive extension worth $229 million According to a source, De'Aaron Fox has consented to a maximum contract extension with the San Antonio Spurs. He was traded to the team in February of last year. The management has further invested in him now that he has committed to a four-year, $229 million agreement with the team. He previously inked a $163 million, five-year contract with the Sacramento Kings. After the 2025-2026 season, he would have been a free agent under that deal. A few months after he joined the San Antonio Spurs, he once stated that he had hoped to negotiate a new contract with the team over the offseason. On the other hand, the San Antonio Spurs made it apparent that they wanted the NBA player to stay with them for a long time, even though they already have two talented young players in their backcourt. An executive of the team told Spotrac's Keith Smith in July: 'When we made that trade, we knew what the contract status was, of course… We see De'Aaron as someone who can grow with our young players and be a real leader for us. We're hopeful we can make something happen to keep him in San Antonio for a long time.' De'Aaron Fox in action (image via Getty Images) De'Aaron Fox will, however, reach a new financial level with his new contract, as his average yearly compensation of $57.25 million would rank third in the league. He only played 18 games for San Antonio Spurs before being sidelined for the season due to a left pinky injury. He was also teamed with Victor Wembanyama , one of the league's top young players, with the hopes that the two may help the S.A. Spurs win their first title since 2014. Unfortunately, the management's decision to bench the icon for the home stretch of the 2024-25 season due to a blood clot in his shoulder put the team' plans on hold. Having said that, as of now, De'Aaron Fox is pretty happy with the new contract.
