
IAS officers named govt spokespersons
They are: Tangedco MD J Radhakrishnan, rural development secretary Gagandeep Singh Bedi, secretary of home, prohibition and excise Dheeraj Kumar and revenue and disaster management secretary P Amudha.
Dr Radhakrishnan will be the spokesperson for departments such as energy, health, transport, education, food and consumer protection, cooperation, welfare of non-resident Tamils, and human resource management.

Gagandeep Singh Bedi will handle communication for a wide range of departments, including municipal administration, rural development, agriculture, water resources, animal husbandry, industries, environment and climate change, and MSMEs.
Dheeraj Kumar will handle prohibition and excise department.
Amudha will be the spokesperson for her disaster management department as well as for social welfare and women's rights, Adi Dravidar and tribal welfare, labour, backward and most backward classes welfare, housing, highways, tourism, Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments, and special programme implementation.
According to govt guidelines, department secretaries will provide verified data and updates to the designated spokespersons, who will coordinate with the chief secretary before engaging with the media.

Gujarat panel on Uniform Civil Code likely to submit report in one month
The committee set up by the Gujarat government to draft a Uniform Civil Code (UCC) for the state on Tuesday said it will submit its report within a month. "Though 45 days were given to the committee initially, it took more time to analyse those representations. We believe the report will be submitted in a month or so," Patel told reporters. The other four committee members -- retired IAS officer C L Meena, advocate R C Kodekar, former Vice Chancellor of Veer Narmad South Gujarat University Dakshesh Thakar and social activist Gita Shroff -- were also present at the meeting besides senior officials.

UCC panel members meet CM, discuss progress of work
Gandhinagar: Justice (retd) Ranjana Desai , chairperson of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) committee constituted to prepare a draft of the proposed UCC implementation in the state, along with other members of the committee, met chief minister Bhupendra Patel in Gandhinagar on Tuesday and discussed the progress of their work. The committee was constituted by the state govt to assess the necessity of implementing UCC in Gujarat and to prepare a draft for the same. The committee held consultations with all stakeholders and even sought recommendations online. An official statement said state law minister Rushikesh Patel, minister of state for home Harsh Sanghavi, and officials of the CMO, law department, and home department were present for the meeting.
