Mysore MP promises swift resolution of logistics park issues
Mysuru: Mysore MP Yaduveer Wadiyar on Tuesday said he will take swift action to address the operational challenges faced by the Multi Modal Logistics Park, an inland container depot in Kadakola, which was developed by Container Corporation of India (CONCOR).
The depot, inaugurated virtually by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in March 2024, was built at an estimated cost of Rs 100 crore but remained underutilised due to the absence of a customs clearance facility.
Suresh Jain, general secretary of the micro, small and medium enterprises council, Mysuru, highlighted the issue, stating, "Without a customs clearance facility, industries are forced to rely on ports in Chennai, Mangaluru, or Kochi, rendering the depot idle."
Responding to the concerns, Yaduveer told reporters that he was unaware of this issue. "I will work to resolve it at the earliest," he said.
Meanwhile, Yaduveer announced plans to commemorate Mysuru Maharaja Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar's birth anniversary on Wednesday, uniquely by making the Mysuru Palace plastic-free. "We will install a water vending machine on the palace premises. This will end the problem of water bottle menace," he said.

Additionally, he revealed that over 3,500 civic workers will receive 20 kg of food items at an event at the Maharaja's College Ground. "It is our duty to support the civic workers who serve the society. Our aim is to provide ration for a month," he said.
Addressing the issue of Kamal Haasan's controversial statement, which was perceived as anti-Kannada, Yaduveer stated that only the public can teach a lesson by boycotting the actor's films until he apologises. "Languages naturally influence one another, but claiming one language gave birth to another is unacceptable," he remarked.
The MP also called on the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) and police to devise a strategy to prevent miscreants from defacing statues in the city, emphasising the need to protect public monuments.

A day after security forces recovered the body of a senior Maoist leader after an encounter in Indravati National Park in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district, the body of yet another leader from the banned outfit's Telangana state committee has now been found. The body was recovered from the encounter that broke out in Indravati National Park in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district Thursday morning, officials have said. This is the third encounter this year in the national park and brings the total gunned down in them to 45. 'The deceased Maoist is identified as 45-year-old Bhaskar @ Mailarapu Adellu. He is a Special Zonal Committee (SZC) Member of the Telangana State Committee,' Bastar range Inspector General of Police Sundarraj P said. A resident of Urumadla village in Telangana's Adilabad district, Bhaskar was the secretary of the Mancherial-Komarambheem (MKB) division of the Telangana State Committee of the banned CPI (Maoist) outfit. He had a bounty of Rs 45 lakh — Rs 25 lakh in Chhattisgarh and 20 lakh in Telangana. 'An AK-47 rifle along with other explosives, weapons, and ammunition have been recovered from the encounter site,' Bijapur Superintendent of Police Jitendra Yadav said. This is the second significant death in this encounter after central committee member Thentu Laxmi Narasimha Chalam alias Sudhakar, 66, was killed Thursday. Hours after the killing, a group of Maoists stopped a transport vehicle and set it on fire in retaliation. This comes nearly a fortnight after Nambala Keshava Rao, alias Basava Raju, the general secretary of the CPI (Maoist), was gunned down in an encounter along with 27 others in the jungles of Abujhmad region in Narayanpur district on May 21. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has set a deadline of March 2026 to eradicate Left Wing Extremism (LWE) from India. The security forces this year till date have 202 Maoists, of which 185 were in Bastar region alone — Bijapur is a part of Bastar region. This year has also seen the death of 17 security personnel in attacks by Maoists.

Indian Navy to get first Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft on June 18
New Delhi, June 6 (UNI) The Indian Navy is all set to commission the first Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Crafts (ASW-SWC), Arnala, at Naval Dockyard, Visakhapatnam, on June 18. Constructed under the guidance of the Directorate of Ship Production and the oversight of the warship overseeing teams in Kolkata and Kattupalli, Arnala was delivered to the Indian Navy on May 8, an official statement said. The ceremony will be presided over by Chief of Defence Staff, Gen Anil Chauhan. The event marks the formal induction of the first of the 16 ASW-SWC class ships into the Indian Navy. Designed and constructed by Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE), Kolkata, under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) with L&T Shipbuilders, Arnala is a testament to the success of the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative in defence manufacturing. Named after the historic Arnala Fort off Vasai, Maharashtra, the warship reflects India's rich maritime heritage. Much like the fort, which stood resiliently against various threats, the ship is designed to have a formidable presence at sea. Its robust construction and advanced capabilities ensure that it can withstand the challenges of the maritime domain, safeguarding India's waters from emerging threats. The warship incorporates more than 80 percent indigenous content and integrates advanced systems from leading Indian defence firms, including Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), L&T, Mahindra Defence, and MEIL. The project has engaged over 55 Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), promoting domestic industry and generating related economic activity. Designed for a range of ASW operations, Arnala is equipped to conduct Subsurface Surveillance, Search and Rescue missions, and Low-Intensity Maritime Operations. This 77.6 m long warship, with a gross tonnage of over 1490 tonnes, is the largest Indian Naval warship to be propelled by a Diesel Engine-Waterjet combination. The commissioning of Arnala will mark a transformative moment in India's naval capabilities, strengthening coastal defence and reaffiliate India's position as a self-reliant maritime power in the strategically vital Indian Ocean Region. Govt approves Rs 23 cr for road projects in city, Muzaffarpur
Patna: The state govt approved infrastructure projects worth Rs 23 crore to enhance road connectivity in Patna and Muzaffarpur districts, said road construction minister Nitin Nabin on Friday. In Patna, Rs 6.67 crore was allocated for the widening and strengthening of roads connecting Kankarbagh road no. 2 to Kankarbagh road no. 4 via Kendriya Vidyalaya. The project aims to ease traffic congestion in Kankarbagh, one of city's most densely populated areas. The development will improve accessibility for local residents and commuters, Nabin said. The larger share of the fund, Rs 16.40 crore, was earmarked for Muzaffarpur, for the development of the stretch from Madipur Power House Chowk to Sakri Path. This project is expected to provide an alternative route for travellers between Muzaffarpur and Patna, helping to reduce traffic congestion and improve overall connectivity. "These infrastructure developments are part of our ongoing efforts to strengthen the state's road network," the minister said. He emphasised that the projects align with CM Nitish Kumar's vision of ensuring smooth transportation facilities for Bihar residents. "The approved works include road rehabilitation, widening and strengthening, which will be executed under the supervision of the road construction department (RCD)," he said. The minister added that similar development initiatives are being implemented across various districts of the state to enhance the state's transportation infrastructure. He added, "These projects are expected to be completed in a timely manner and will contribute significantly to the region's economic growth by improving logistics and transportation efficiency."
