Mysuru in the ‘Super Swachh League' among clean cities

The city has performed well in the clean city rankings, within the population range of 3 lakh to 10 lakh, announced on Thursday. It made its way to the 'Super Swachh League' which is a newly introduced category under the Swachh Survekshan framework of the Swachh Bharat Mission Urban (SBM-U). The 'Super Swachh League' or SSL includes only those cities that have consistently demonstrated top performance in past Swachh Survekshan editions. Other cities within the population range of 3 lakh to 10 lakh (as per 2011 census) that are included under SSL cities are Chandigarh, Noida, Ujjain, Gandhinagar, and Guntur. Though Mysuru is reckoned to be ranked 3rd under SSL cities, the MCC authorities said there is no ranking for SSL cities but only criteria for their inclusion is consistently high performance. In 2023, Mysuru had slid to national ranking of 27thwhich had drawn widespread flak from the citizens. The authorities from the Mysuru City Corporation authorities said that Mysuru, known for its consistent excellence in urban cleanliness, has once again made the city proud by performing exceptionally well in the Swachh Super League 2024-25, a initiative under the Swachh Survekshan conducted by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA). It is essentially a prestige league of cities that have consistently performed well in the Swachh Survekshan rankings over the years. The idea is to create a 'Champions League' environment where the best cities compete with each other to achieve excellence beyond compliance, according to the authorities. ''The inclusion of Mysuru among SSL cities reflects the dedicated efforts of MCC, sanitation workers, and citizens in upholding the city's legacy of cleanliness, sustainability, and public participation,' said the authorities. The rankings and survey, said the authorities, is designed to encourage healthy competition among top-performing cities and further shore up the standards in urban cleanliness, sanitation, and waste management. Mrthyunjaya, nodal officer of MCC for Swachh Survekshan, said that the along with senior officials from the Urban Development Department and the MCC, a few pourakarmikas too were in Delhi for the presentation of awards. In all, 4,589 urban local bodies were assessed and out of 12,500 marks, 80 per cent was allocated for data provided by ULBs, documents assessment, and field assessment. Remaining 2,500 marks was for garbage free cities (GFC) ratings, Open Defecation Free, processing, door to door segregation, etc. A few other cities in Karnataka within the population range of 3 lakh to 10 lakh, and are not in the SSL category, have been ranked. This includes Davangere with a national ranking of 32, Hubli-Dharwad is ranked 34, Kalaburgi (57), Belagavi (72), Bellary (73), Shivamogga (81), Bijapur (83), Mangaluru (86), Tumakuru (92). BBMP is ranked 36th among cities with a population of more than 10 lakh.

The members of the Mysuru City Corporation Employees' Association on Friday submitted a memorandum to former Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa and urged him to prevail upon the State government to fulfil their demands. He was accompanied by MP for Shivamogga B.Y. Raghavendra. Mr. Raghavendra said that Mr. Yediyurappa's visit has brought strength to the protesters, and hoped that it opened the eyes of the Chief Minister to the their demands. Like the State government employees and officers, the MCC employees are also in need of health schemes such as group insurance schemes and Jyothi Sanjeevani. They also work for the people and deserve such benefits, he said. Mr. Raghavendra said the BJP State unit President B.Y. Vijayendra and Leader of Opposition R. Ashok have taken up their cause and will prevail upon the government to fulfill their demands. 'Being the MP, I urge the Chief Minister to look into their demands.' Heaps of garbage remain uncollected near the Devaraja Market where large quantities of waste were generated, as the civic workers have stayed away from work. The MCC employees have demanded that the benefits of the Karnataka Government Insurance Department, Group Insurance Scheme, and General Provident Fund, like they are provided to the State government employees, without any modification, besides Jyothi Sanjeevani health scheme. The protesting employees said the officers and employees of the city corporations were deprived of promotions for many years and urged the government to consider promotions. Mysuru: Former minister and JD(S) MLA GT Devegowda on Wednesday urged the state govt to fulfil the demands of the employees of the Mysuru City Corporation. MCC to conduct e-Khata abhiyan every Friday

Mysuru: The Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) announced an e-Khata abhiyan every Friday between 3pm and 6pm to ensure that the public do not face any challenges in obtaining the services. This comes amid public outrage over the delay in issuing the e-Khatas due to various technical glitches, especially server and login-related issues, from the first week of June. There are around 1.7 lakh properties in the MCC limits, and till June 3, around 45,000 e-Khatas were issued. "We have set a target of issuing at least 1 lakh e-Khatas by the end of this financial year," explained Shaikh Tanveer Asif, MCC commissioner. He informed that the city corporation is working towards ensuring that citizens get e-Khatas hassle-free. "Complaints against delay in the delivery of services are taken seriously," he said. Meanwhile, the public and real estate stakeholders are upset with the delay in the issuing of e-Khatas, citing technical issues by the civic agencies in and around Mysuru for the last four weeks. They point out that the delay in issuing the e-Khatas on time has brought the real estate sector to a standstill. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Providers are furious: Internet access without a subscription! "The statements by the officials at Bengaluru are not reaching the officials working at the revenue offices. They are clueless about the modifications in the rules. If we pressurise them to issue the e-Khata in a time-bound manner, they cite server issues as the reason for the delay," said Sundar Rajan, a resident from Basaveshwara Road. "The situation is even more problematic in other urban bodies around the city. The state govt must train the employees about the rules. Govt must ensure that all the changes in the rule reach the officials on the ground," he said. Confederation of Real Estate Developers' Associations of India (CREDAI) Mysuru chapter president Shrihari D, and BS Prashanth, president of Federation of Organisations and Associations of Mysuru (FOAM), said getting an e-Khata for a property has become a herculean task, and they raised the issue with the agencies concerned. "Those who want to sell their properties urgently are facing a lot of challenges in getting the e-Khata. The real estate sector virtually became standstill due to the delay in the issuing of the e-Khatas," said Prashanth.
