Doechii Styles Floor-length Braids With Miu Miu Look for 2025 BET Awards
Doechii was honored for her musical prowess and innovation on Monday at the 2025 BET Awards in Los Angeles, during which she received the award for Best Female Hip-Hop Artist. The 26-year-old rapper and singer, who earlier this year took home the Grammy for Best New Artist, celebrated the night with floor-length braids styled by her longtime hair architect, Malcolm Marquez.
The 'Denial Is a River' creator collaborated with Marquez, drawing on her signature style and persona to create a fresh take. While the spiral braids on top of her head felt particularly familiar, the five-foot extensions swinging across her left shoulder were something new.

The elongated braids were low-key in comparison to the abstract, sculpted hair Marquez has created for her in the past. However, Marquez typically adds a braided element in many of her looks. Doechii's hair for the Grammy Awards was a braided crown extension tied on top of her head. Oppositely, Marquez put her in an afro for the 2025 Met Gala and flattened her hair, adding a front fringe and folding the spikey ends on top of her head for her Dazed cover shoot.
Her BET Awards makeup was light, consisting of full brows, lash extensions, brown lip liner and a clear gloss. Doechii has famously worked with artist Dee, whose client list includes Ayo Edebiri, but it's not certain whether they were responsible for this glam.
Doechii was also a Miu Miu girl on Monday, posing in an all-red, two-piece skirt and bandeau top set with the brand's yellow suede Arcadie bag, layered belts, colorful bangles and a Renato Cipullo Amethyst and Emerald Lucido Ring. Her acrylic nails were also the star of the show, square-cut and painted in an ombré red and gold on one hand and an iridescent amber on the other. Doechii's stylist Sam Woolf also put her in see-through, orange shades, wood hoops and Jimmy Choo sandals with purple flower accents.
Back in February, Doechii made her rounds through fashion week, attending all of the major shows and opening the runway for Dsquared2's fall 2025 Milan presentation. Her runway debut saw her emerge out of an armored truck to her own track, 'Nissan Altima.' Instead of braids, Doechii's hair was teased up, blown out and curled, shining as the flood lights hit her.

Miley Cyrus has opened up about losing high-profile jobs over controversies earlier on in her career. The Grammy winner is currently on the promo trail for her new album Something Beautiful, and recently sat down for an interview with Monica Lewinsky for her podcast Reclaiming. During the conversation, Miley spoke about having her privacy violated from an early age, and how numerous leaked photos and videos cost her several big gigs. '[There was] a bong video when I was 16, and that cost me a very large, multi-multi-million dollar Walmart deal,' she explained. 'I had to email the Walmart CEO an apology for being 16 and smoking weed… which most 16-year-olds do. But my email address at the time was 'Miley loves weed'... and it actually wasn't weed, it was Salvia, but I needed to write to him, 'I'm sorry for smoking weed'. And my mum was like, 'what the hell? What's your email? You have to change that!'. 'He was old, so I changed my email to 'Miley loves old people'. It didn't help very much, I still got fired. But these things that you know… to have adults firing a teenager for smoking pot, and you know when they were 16 or 17 they were smoking weed. 'The difference is, I didn't know I was being filmed. I might have known someone was filming and not cared because I was high on Salvia, but I didn't know that my camera would then get stolen at a teen party, because that's how it got leaked, my backpack got stolen at a party.' Miley then reflected on another controversy from the first few years of her career, when TMZ published pictures of her celebrating then-boyfriend Liam Hemsworth's birthday with a penis-shaped cake. 'As a joke, I got my boyfriend a penis cake for his birthday,' she recalled. 'And I got fired. I was the lead actress in Hotel Transylvania, and they fired me, and replaced me, because I had made an inappropriate adult joke. But I was 18! So yes, I was fine to work in a kids' movie, but I [wasn't] a kid.' Miley was replaced in the film by fellow Disney album Selena Gomez, who went on to return for three big-screen sequels. 'What felt ridiculous to me about getting fired [for] a penis cake is that they sell penis cakes for all bachelorettes. In Nashville, Tennessee, you can get penis cakes,' she quipped. 'It's not that big of a deal. 'So, I thought, 'this is a very simple, not vulgar, joke. This is silly, and you can do this for all bachelorette parties'... it felt ridiculous. 'To be fired for regular things that girls my age [do], but at that time, I wasn't someone that was appropriate for kids, even though that was my personal life. And that photo, again, only revealed itself because the camera had been stolen.' Miley has been getting reflective throughout the promo cycle for her latest album. Trace Cyrus Blasts 'Evil' Dad Billy Ray Cyrus For Skipping Grandmother's Funeral
Trace Cyrus, the son of country musician Billy Ray Cyrus, continues to hint at family discord even as his father appears to be happily in the throes of a new relationship. On Tuesday, Trace Cyrus shared an Instagram post in which he accused the two-time Grammy winner of skipping his maternal grandmother's funeral. 'This man is so hungry for fame it's pathetic,' he wrote alongside a photo of Billy Ray Cyrus. 'He really flew to Italy for a fashion show but wouldn't come to LA for Mammie's funeral while he was still married to my mom. Even after his daughter got him a 60k private jet like he demanded then he still didn't come after the plane was paid for.' Addressing his dad directly, Trace Cyrus added: 'You're the lamest man to ever walk the planet earth. Honestly embarrassed to ever have considered you my idol. The best thing to come from your downfall is it made me go into beast mode. I refuse to be a washed up, delusional, evil person when I'm old like you.' A representative for Billy Ray Cyrus declined comment on Trace Cyrus' remarks. In addition to Trace Cyrus, Billy Ray Cyrus shares four more children ― including daughters Miley and Noah Cyrus ― with ex-wife Tish Cyrus. Tish Cyrus' mother, Loretta Finley, died in 2020 at age 85, according to USA Today. Tish and Billy Ray Cyrus divorced in 2022 after 28 years of marriage. Trace Cyrus, who is also a musician, has hinted at an estrangement from his father on numerous occasions. In January, he urged Billy Ray Cyrus to seek help via an open letter on Instagram in response to his dad's shaky performance at President Donald Trump's inaugural festivities that month. 'We are all hanging on to memories of the man we once knew & hoping for the day he returns,' he wrote at the time. 'You're not healthy Dad & everyone is noticing it.' Trace Cyrus' post comes just days after Miley Cyrus shrugged off rumors of a strained relationship with her dad while appearing on The New York Times' 'The Interview' podcast. 'As I've gotten older, I'm respecting my parents as individuals instead of as parents — because my mom really loved my dad for her whole life,' she explained. 'And I think being married to someone in the music industry and not being a part of it is, obviously, really hard.' These days, Billy Ray Cyrus appears to be enjoying his time with girlfriend Elizabeth Hurley nearly two months after hard-launching their romance on social media. Christian rock band respond to former member's drug abuse, sexual assault allegations
Nashville-based Christian rockers Newsboys are responding to troubling news regarding their 59-year-old former lead singer, Michael Tait. In a post on the group's official Instagram account, the Australian-founded band responded to allegations of drug abuse and inappropriate sexual conduct against Tait while also distancing him from the band. "Last night, our hearts were shattered when we read the news alleging drug abuse and inappropriate sexual actions by our former lead singer, Michael Tait. While Michael has not addressed these allegations, we are devastated even by the implications," the statement read. "First and foremost, our hearts are with the victims who have bravely shared their stories. If you are a victim, we urge you to come forward. We absolutely do not condone any form of sexual assault." The quartet noted that as husbands who are fathers of 14 children in total, they were "horrified, heartbroken, and angry at this report and in many ways, we feel as if we and our families have been deceived for the last fifteen years." In January 2025, Tait, who was the lead vocalist of the group for 15 years in their four decades of existence, offered the following in a statement: "Fifteen years ago, my life was forever changed when I received the invite to step into the role of lead singer for Newsboys. The years since have been some of the most fulfilling, faith-filled, and rewarding years of my life." "I have been on an amazing journey all over the globe, performing and ministering to people of all ages, races, and backgrounds." "The decision does not come lightly and has been a shock to even myself, but admist prayer and fasting, I have clarity that this is the right decision," the statement continued. In their June 5 statement, Tait's former bandmates, Duncan Phillips, Jeff Frankenstein, Jody Davis and Adam Agee, noted that when he left the band, he "confessed" to them and their management that he "had been living a double-life." Through a nearly three-year-long investigation by The Roys Report, it was discovered that for two decades, Tait befriended three young men on Christian music tours in 2004, 2010, and 2014. The trio were all 22 at the time of their first interaction. Allegations of Tait, then two decades older than his accusers, engaging in acts of sexual assault and grooming highlight the lengthy of June 5, Tait has not officially responded to the allegations on his social media accounts or the statement from his former bandmates. As well, there have been no further comments from the group. Upon their 2021 release of "Stand," their 20th studio album, the band spoke with The Nashville Tennessean, part of the USA TODAY Network. It's noted that when Grammy-winner Tait, formerly of DC Talk, replaced Peter Furler as the group's new lead vocalist in 2009, the band no longer had any original members in its ranks.
